I went with the National Guard to Kuwait/Iraq with the 1452nd Trans Co. 4th Platoon, mostly Jersey boys and we all drove these HETTS...From 2004-05 we put on over 10,000 miles on these rigs through all kinds of weather and not so friendly areas....these trucks performed very well and we owe our lives to them.
all I can say is that Oshkosh really did their homework when they built this truck !!...we all owe our lives to them for getting us through many combat situations !!..these trucks took us through hell and brought us home with very few issues because they were new and because they were well made.
Hell yes! Good video. I served in the 96 Trans. Co.(HET) out of Ft. Hood from '02-'03 and in Iraq. It was nice having a bed where ever you went. Good times.
233d TC Ft Bliss/Ft.Knox. Miss hauling A1's, 109s, M3s, bridge layers, etc..... HEAVY TRUCK!!!!! These came in service at Ft Bliss in '94/'95 while I was there. Missed the ole 914/747s at first, but that didn't last long. The ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE! Take that BMW!
largest convoy we had in the 1498th ( arabic writing on the sides of the hood) 96 HETs, I was in one of the lead trucks hauling a 73 ton armored D9, we scraped the bottom of three overpasses in Baghdad, and their overpasses are taller than ours
This is Def . After my time in the Army { 79' - 86' } . We had the original M915 series { M915 thru M920 } assembled by AM General . The Oshkosh's at That time however , looked totally different .
This is very true this video shows how good the us army is for there supply and there hard core drivers and they red always more don't worry the big fort drum of the Adirondack's love to drive these and we love bring supplies to our soldiers god bless america and our fort drum drivers hooha !!!
My stepdad used to drive these when he was stationed overseas....he said "if you think a regular semi hitting a car at 50 is bad, you should see what happens to a car hit by one of these" he showed me pictues of a car whose driver didnt understand that U.S. military vehicles dont follow stop signs... ever see a 4 door sedan reduced to the size of a kitchen table?
@dirtman902...we picked up our trucks at the docks in Doha, Kuwait. ..the average mileage on each truck was around 600 miles...almost brand new...we used and abused them for close to 14,000 miles during our tour...we were very rough on them...not by choice but that's what our missions dictated...the trucks never let us down...all we did was to blow out the air filters every couple of days...no grease or oil changes either...just flog them daily....constantly on the go. I'm too old to deploy now.
I drove these trucks through iraq and kuwait for 13 months in all kinds of weather...Our truck saved our lives by absorbing numerous hits from AK47s and grenades...Never had any mechanical issues...It was our home on the road...Very crowded inside with all of our gear...But dry when it rained ( not too often)......I was with the 42ID, 1452nd Transportation Co., 4th platoon. most of our platoon were from New Jersey, 2004 to 2005.
God bless the U.S.A! Yee-Haw! If there are any military men viewing this comment, Thanks to all who put they're lives on the line for us to be able to rest our heads at night! I thank all of you!
Think of the effort it takes to get these and other pieces of Military equipment around the world we have the greatest armed forces in the world and I would personally like to thank the men and women of our armed forces for protecting freedom for the rest of us schmucks.
The scene at 3:55 looks familiar. (Ft. Hood?) I remember going down a steep hill to gain momentum to drive up the next steep hill, then a sudden left turn at the top.
whats this? armor on HETs IED craters fixed and patched... better days in ol' Iraq? good clip, thanks for the memories. HET convoys never got stopped by enemy no matter what "cluster" they rolled into.
I seen on you tube news that the us American Navy shot down a Iran drone plane I want to say official from fort drum and the plattsburgh brigade you did a awesome job for real keep up the good work for real don't worry if you want a victory dinner there is noting wrong with it don't worry fort drum convoy is there for you for real !! What ever the Navy needs the plattsburgh fort drum brigade is there for you for real we are putting the hammer on down and fort drum from plattsburgh new York is there for you god bless from sliver bow and convoy hooa! God bless america !!!!
Top speed (unless you tweaked them) was 45 mph, now anyone can buy one. scary to think that someone who has never driven anything bigger than a mini truck can now be driving a M1070.
Love my MOS, 88MIKES!!! Some 12 Novembers do this as well. Hell yea boys Let em rip down the roads!!! 916's HET's LET's, Love the army truckin community.
ERW high speed airless military will provide double digit efficiency improvement for logistics, is bullit and blast resistant plus reduces the need for flat tire changes. The ERW ban is bad policy for our troops.
The military division of oshkosh does not sell to cillvilians becasue the vehicles do not meet the DOT EPA regulations the military is exempt from those laws and you would not be able to lisensce it if you did obtain one because of the epa laws
Im in the Australian Army and i move the Abrams tanks around. Problem is we didnt get these trucks because they arent compliant for our roads so we got some piece of shit MAN that cant be taken off road. Its ok for the highways but we cant use the trailers off road either.
@mschiffel1 better be glad you arent with the 1452nd this deployment cause you wouldnt be so lucky. The trucks we fell in on this time were the biggest pieces of junk we have ever seen.over 25 % of the fleet sat on dead line row for! when we turned them in ( last week) we had to tow them to the TPE yard! most of them are so bad of shape that they are sending them to be crushed!

Trying to find IED's there? Your trailer is in the dirt, plus you will be changing many tires that way.
whats this? armor on HETs IED craters fixed and patched... better days in ol' Iraq? good clip, thanks for the memories. HET convoys never got stopped by enemy no matter what "cluster" they rolled into.
Should've put "Narrow Load" on them to mess with them; thinking we had BIGGER lol
If the Duck would of had this instead of the one stack Mack...he would have made it over that damn bridge.
That truck looks like you can haul an aircraft carrier with it!!!
