I've been writing a lots of riffs and tunes recently in an attempt to try and make me music a bit more raw and a bit more metal. With one song, I filmed myself doing this. Whether it actually turned out very black metal at all is moot (especially because of the vocals), but... The finished song video will be put up next week.

Ha, thanks! 😄
Great video
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
good stuff! really dig Eigentlich , i like the 60's-esque forest witch vibe. 👍👍
Cheers. Thanks for the feedback. Happy you liked it. 😎 Big fan of 60s psychedelic rock here.
Hey you've uploaded it. I really enjoyed it keep it up ! 🤘
Yeah, your original post gave me a motivational kick up the backside to finish the video and song. 😎👍🤘🤘🤘
@@joolz666 awesome! 🤘
really liked this video, it was cool seeing how you record and use amp sims. i'm a nerd for that kind of stuff. great video and can't wait to hear the song :)
I was quite lazy with the production/mixing with this song (for once). I kept the vsts/presents mostly as they were, and with mixing (😏) it only took three rendered versions before I was satisfied with it. Maybe I'm getting better, maybe less is more, maybe I just got lucky. 😉
to help with the light flickering you should disable automatic ISO
Oooh, thanks for the tip.👍 I'll try that in future.
Your videos are amazing! May I asi you what audio interface do you use?
You may. :-) The audio interface I use is a Behringer UMC22, and then Tracktion Waveform 11 (the free version) for the DAW. I probably should download Waveform 12, but I dislike new layouts... ;-)
Hello, Joolz. What effect do you use for distortion?
Various, depending on my mood. In this video, the first "recording" part was my practise amp with the gain turned up. I quite like fuzz for distortion. I can actually **hear** the difference whereas with many distortion vsts I find them too subtle (I don't do subtle 😉, and my hearing has never recovered from Metallica, Bradford 1988 🤘).
What got you into black metal?
I've always liked metal, but...being really annoyed about something at werk, actually. 😏 In those situations I usually listened to Slayer, but whatever it was that annoyed me, it must have *really annoyed* me as I decided I wanted to listen to something more brutal and potentially obnoxious. Ended up watching 'Black Metal Satanica' and found myself very drawn to Watain. Decided to check out some older stuff such as Darkthrone and Burzum (I remember them from the very early 90s, but there was no opportunity to hear them), and found I enjoyed it on a real visceral level. And since then I've been in the BM rabbit hole. 😎🤘🤘🤘
@@joolz666 That's great and also familiar to me. I assume that you know of the black metal youtuber Farvann? He made some video regarding how people get into black metal and one way was having a bad day. That documentary is one of the good ones.
Thanks for the long reply, have a great weekend.
@@AberrationCreation Yes, I know Farvann's channel. 🙂 It was actually that and Sablast (Zimorog)'s channel that inspired me to start my one-woman BM project, along with a band I shan't mention's very early and rather sloppily-played demo or album. "Oh, I can do that" I thought.................. Farvann and Sablast make it look easy... ;-) Full respect to both. \m/ Have a good weekend yourself.
