Great video. I’m going to use some of your tips that I was unaware of this summer. Hope you always have safe travels! 17:00
🎉
Still here
New subscriber from down under. Great clip, fingers crossed that I'm your lucky newbie love the look of that bag.
This was a helpful video, thank you. I just subscribed ❤
I have a duffel bag that I bought 20 years ago for 15 bucks and I still use it wherever I go. It's been with me everywhere even in Iraq and Afghanistan during my deployments.
Wow - what brand is it?
Checked bag? Ah nope. I have a carry on and one personal item. I want flexibility to be able to move to another flight without being tied to that checked back. I want my bags with me without risking lost luggage. Always great content Kristin. Cheers!
Thanks Robert! Traveling, carry-on only is ideal, but I’ve excepted that I can’t do it as a video creator, Podcaster, and DJ. I have too much equipment, but it’s for a good cause!
@@TravelingwithKristin Very true that I am not a podcaster, filming and a DJ. I see you're also carrying a drone which plenty of VLOGers are carrying these days. Some are heavy I imagine. Makes for a heavy bag.
Alright for a week or two but a 3 month working trip needs a bit more stuff to take.
@@petersmith8134 Although for 2-3 months you would be expecting to be doing laundry anyway. Why burden yourself with all that extra weight and bulk? You wear 20% of your clothes 80% of the time. Travel light.
So agree. Carry-on only for 20+ years. So convenient. 👋🏻🇦🇺
I’ve never understood the packing cube mentality because it seems like between the cubes there’s wasted space. But you have done a superb job of explaining the benefits of using packing cubes. And I learned about compression cubes from you as well. I’ve decided to subscribe to your channel. Traveling for 3 weeks with my wife, all without checking in a bag on the plane. Wish us luck!!
Good luck on your trip! Cubes are less about space saving and more about organizing. Being able to find what you need without digging, and if your bag is searched or opens up during handling, things are contained and less likely to be lost. For my bag for two weeks in Greece, I've got a cube with clothes, a cube with undies and my swimsuit, sandals in a shoe bag, then all my accessories tucked in around the edges and in between.
Loved your tip about squeezing the liquid container a little when putting the cap on to prevent leaks. I love all your tips!
Thank you! So happy to hear!
Hello from Canada 🇨🇦. New subscriber, came across your channel on my feed. THANK YOU!! Finally, someone who travels with a checked bag! I get the carry on vibe that most everyone is into to save money, but sometimes one wants to pack a little extra. I sometimes feel guilty for even thinking of packing a checked bag/ suitcase when everyone seems to be travelling with a carry on bag. Looking forward to your next video. 🙂
YES! Welcome, Diana! I approve of your packing decisions :)
So glad you're back to adventures and feeling better. Was concerned about you a few years ago...or whenever it was now. Great info on packing. It always seems so scary to squeeze stuff in, and hope didn't forget things.
I’ve seen many a travel video, so I love how all inclusive and detailed you’ve been. You’re very personable. Loved the blue-light reader glasses reminder, something many of us forget to bring. Definitely have subscribed and look forward to following your future travels! ❤
I love learning new packing tricks. I've been packing carry-on only for a few years now and have managed to get my whole family to do the same. Makes our travels so much simpler!
This is the most comprehensive packing video that I've found on any platform. I also really appreciate the packing list that you provided. Liked, subscribed and added to a playlist for re-watching! ❤
Thanks so much, Tazz! Safe travels!
Very helpful, Kristin! I should have watched this before my recent trip to Costa Rica! I especially liked learning about packing cubes. Next I’m going to watch your “Beginner Travel Mistakes” video. I’ve subscribed and plan to keep watching to learn more from your years of travel experience. Thank you! 😊
Thanks so much for the video Kristin! Love your podcast/videos on youtube. Very informative and enlightening on what to expect when traveling abroad.
I also love packing cubes!! They make managing any suitcase so much less stressful!
✈ Wonderful ideas and finally someone who checks a bag. Travelling from Australia we have a 7kg limit on our carry on^s (it can be tricky) so I also use the small zipped colour bags for toiletries etc., and little items that can be lost. My recent purchase was a power strip with a long cord and a set of noise cancelling headphones.
Lots of great ideas, love the eye masks and mints and gum. A great reminder for poncho and mini umbrella! You are extremely organized and knowledgeable! Thanks for this video! Happy travels!
Great tips, thank you! Loved the palo santo/sage stick one, definitely taking one with me now! And the essential oils one too. Very helpful! 👍🏼
I’m a fan of packing cubes! Works great for keeping organized on cruises in small spaces as well!
Thank you Kristin! You provide a wealth of essential information that makes travel less stressful!
😆
This is my first video of you Mrs and I’m now a subscriber! I love traveling and anything related to packing and hacks! Excited to binge watch your videos and for new ones to come out!!
This video is very thorough compared to other videos I have tried to watch. Thank you so much! I feel like I will never forget anything with this advice. Especially the smudge stick and essential oils ❤❤❤
Have followed you for years. This video is full of practical ideas; like the way you organize each packing cube to fit your needs. Agree, soft luggage is best. Your encouraging manner makes travelling & living abroad possible. Thanks.
Thank you so much! I’m so happy to read your comment 🥰 Travel on ✈️✈️
Genius tip to squeeze air out of containers to keep leaks at bay … that made me a new subbie! Kudos for being able to put individual miscellaneous items in that outside top pocket: I gather like items in small mesh pouches to assuage my anxiety over loose stuff falling out. Thank you for an organized and friendly presentation.
Thank you, Lucie!! Welcome!
So very glad I found you! Thank you for keeping it light and informative.
Great info on traveling essentials, especially the packing cubes. Thank you!
This is so helpful!! I'm traveling to Scotland with two of my daughters in July of this year and you've given us a lot of information that will improve our trip! The tip about squeezing the air out of liquid containers 🤯!! Thank you!
Have a wonderful time in Scotland. Was there October last year. An amazing country, friendly people and gorgeous vistas. Watch out for those pesky midges. 😉🇦🇺🏴
Totally agree. I have those stuffy silicone bottles but it never dawned on me to squeeze a little air out to prevent leaks
Thanks for the packing hints! I especially like the packing cubes.
You’re welcome, Tim!
Fabulous ideas!!! Thank you so much. The cosmetics are the hard one for me, as I am picky about what I use and am now gone for at least 6 months at a time. You’re great Kristen! I love your channel…
Winner winner chicken dinner!! My husband and I found you on UA-cam and you reminded us so much of our daughter, who now lives in Bali living her best life! We love your videos, even though we are retired (older) world travelers, we have picked up some great tips from you. Love your videos!!
I love that the backpack is clamshell design! So much easier to pack!
I do use zip loc bags (and squeezing the air out) as an alternative to packing cubes when i travel, I find it to be able to compress my clothes better
That is also a great idea! Thanks for the tip. They are lighter and more flexible than compression bags.
Thank you SO VERY MUCH Kristin, for sharing your packing tips from your vast years of experience. The detail, the organization, ALL of your advice is so very helpful!! Can hardly wait to hit the road again :)
always a pleasure, Kat!
First time viewer here 😊. Loved your video - thank you. I especially appreciated how organized the packing video was by breaking out the various categories & tips regarding packing: clothes, toiletries, etc. Well done!
Great video. Brilliant tip with the liquids. Definitely wish I had known or thought of that one sooner.
I forgot where I learned that - game changer!
😊 I'm still with you. You have provided so many practical and user-friendly tips. I never knew about the multiple uses of essential oils!
So happy to hear, Evelyn! 💗
Great video. I love packing cubes! They keep me organized and tidy while traveling. So good.
I love learning about your packing tips. I’m constantly looking for things the whole time I’m traveling. I love the carry in back pack!
Great video! Thanks for sharing your tips. I agree, packing cubes of various sizes are absolutely essential for staying organized. I roll everything to save space. One time I rolled all my clothes so tight and was super proud of myself for how much stuff I was able to fit in one suitcase, but then it ended up being overweight so I had to remove some things. Hope I win one of these backpacks. :)
Hahaha I’ve been there! 😆 I try to save a little space just in case but it’s hard…
Hi @debbieg8951, great news that you were selected to win the free Minaal giveaway! Please send and email to hello at travelingwithkristin.com with your contact details.
New subscriber here! Love all the info you’ve provided, particularly creating a vacuum with plastic containers. So much easier than putting plastic wrap on each one. Also, I’ve been looking for a comfortable, lightweight backpack. Recently, I went on a last minute trip 1-day overnight trip with a Jansport, which didn’t work for me on my back. It’s a great student book bag though. I’m interested in the Minaal bag. It has some great travel features that piqued my interest. Thank you. ❤❤
So many great ideas, thank you so much. My daughter and her husband invited me to go with them next year to Portugal. It'll be my first trip out of the county. I'm so excited and can't wait to use your tips!
Loved that explanation on the compression bag, also the idea of letting the air out of your tube & bottles. Ty.
Hi Kristin. Thank you for all the tips. I like black suitcases, so I painted different designs with acrylic paint. They are unique and easy to find 😊
Thanks for all the tips! I have also been a packing cube convert and will never go without! They are the best! Can't wait to watch more of your videos.
Thanks for all the great info. Thankful to have found your channel. I’m not a frequent traveler but I will be going on a cruise to Alaska in June so this is very helpful!
Great tips, thank you!! Just ordered packing cubes and can't wait to use them
Great info. Appreciate your content always! Happy travels Kristin!
I’ve been very curious about this pack for a long time! Thanks so much for your tips, this was a great collection of principles for travel.
Love the tip about the compression bags...Ive use packing cubes but I think the compression ones will be a game changer!
I love the references to Marie Kondo. Thanks for the tips! Especially the seal/suction for the shampoo tip.
I very much enjoyed some of the tips about how you organize each of the clothing categories. Also the details about the misc things you always carry in your backpack. We are off to Greece soon for our 50th wedding anniversary so I will certainly use what I heard! Many thanks!
Outstanding video, Kristin! Packed with a load of useful info for packing, and what items to pack. I'm so impressed with your granular detail on the items you pack. This is easily one of the most helpful travel-packing posts I've watched so far in my research. Thanks!
Thanks, D! 😃
Love watching packing videos. I like to see what others are bringing, but also to get ideas as to new places to visit
Love how thorough you are with explaining the packing. Like how you keep so many items you know you will always need (earplugs) everywhere so you can always have access to them when needed. Hoping to take a transatlantic cruise and spend some time in Europe with carry on only and looking for the best luggage option. The backpack looks interesting and very useful.
Thank you so much, Diana; I hope you have a lovely time on the cruise!
I've just discovered your videos and have been enjoying them. I've been using some of these travel packing hacks but I learned some new ones from you. Thanks!
I have had to pause this video lots of times, so that I could make notes on my phone. Thanks Kristin, sooo many really useful travel tips! I am a new subscriber and planning on travelling with my family for an extended time next year, have been making my way through many of your videos. You’ve bee. Super helpful!
I love to hear that, Bec! 🥰🎉 So happy the videos have been helpful and WELCOME to the channel! If there are any topics you'd like me to cover, just let me know.
Never tire of watching packing vids. Even better when minimalist. Thx heaps. 🇦🇺
Great tips. Thanks for sharing. I'm 1 week away from an 8 week trip and I picked up a few new tips and got some validation on my tried and true. Happy travels!
Packing for my first European trip for the year and listening to you. Thank you for the great tips!
So glad I found your channel! Planning a family trip in the next few weeks. Thanks for the advice!
Thank you for all the travel tips Kristin! I've used mesh packing cubes for years but I'm planning to buy compression cubes to use for my next trip in a few months; I'm hoping it will save space since I fly carry-on only. I appreciated the advice for soft-shell luggage as well since I hadn't thought about extra weight for hardshell bags. Also, the tip about sqeezing liquid bottles to form a seal is genius!! Thank you for the giveaway opportunity, and best of luck with all of your future travels!
So glad it was helpful, Stephanie, and I hope you find a good, lightweight bag for your trip!
Super thorough! Kristin covers every single thing you've never thought about before.
I carry a collapsible water bottle, so it doesn't take up much room when empty. I also carry a large microfiber towel in a pouch on the plane. In the pouch it can be used as a pillow, but outside the pouch it can be a blanket. It can also be used as a beach towel or bath towel and is very quick to dry. Love your tips and glad I found your video. Wish it wasn't too late to enter the contest.
Thank you so much for all these great tips! Stumbled upon your channel and I’m so glad I did!
Just tried compression cubes for the first time. Love them for certain circumstances, especially for a 1 change of clothes for your personal item bag. Worked great.
30-years-a-nomad
I started my digital nomad journey exactly 30 years ago in April 1993. I was programming and sending my 3.5” disks in by snail mail; that’s pre-world-wide-web! I love watching your continuing and growing success, Kristin. I still use a Jandd backpack my friend sold me in 1996 when I moved to Prague that year. I could use a new backpack!! Sign me up!
Best wishes
from the OG Nomad, aka ChaCha, aka Marcos. Love your videos!
From Cuenca, Ecuador this month, Ciao!
Such wonderful information, love the squeezing the air out of liquid containers tip! Very practical and hard earned advice, thanks so much!
Good morning Kristin. Excellent video as always. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on what to pack before traveling. 😊😍
Hi Kristin I just came across your channel. I love all your ideas and some products you spoke about. Love the back pack. Looks great and very practical 😊
So glad I found your channel. Going to Italy next month and your I found your video extremely informative and straight to the point. Thank you.
I have been searching for what to travel with and how to do it minimally, so this is AMAZING! Thank you Kristin!! 😄
Awesome! Glad I could help, Noelle! You are welcome 😊
Fantastic tips. Very useful. Thanks, Kristin, for sharing.
Just found your page, I'm always trying new ways to save on packing. I recently purchased packing cubes which I love so far. Thank you for this.
Awesome information and tips, Kristin! I just discovered your channel this morning and took lots of product notes... and subscribed! 🙂
Loved your travel tips. Going on a much needed vacation for 2 wks. Will continue to watch your new videos.
I appreciate the tips. I'll be getting your packing list to help with my next trip this Fall. Agree on taking Essential oils like lavender for relaxing and peppermint for digestive and a pick me up.
Love your packing tips. I do love packing cubes that can be zipped down. Saves so much space❤
Thanks for the informative video. I try to pack as light as possible, so I weigh my clothes and select containers that are small and light. It makes traveling easy and more relaxed. I like the vitamins folding organizer with separate plastic pouches. It can be tucked anywhere and it can hold a lot of vitamins but it's also very light.
I absolutely love packing cubes!! Thanks for your tips!
Thank you for your videos. Loved your little tips on the squeezing bottles and the use of essential oils! Very thorough and informative 👌
Thank you for this video!! Fantastic information!! Love the details!
What a great informative vlog. I have 3 trips coming up this year as well as a cruise. That carry-on bag looks amazing!
Just Subscribed!
Love the Tip about squeezing out the air!
Also,Interested in the Backpack!
Love this approach w/packing cubes & organization. I usually try to travel w/only a carryon but I'm going on a UK art residence retreat & this inspired me to check a bag & keep my expensive art equipment & supplies in my carryon.
Thank you for the wonderful tips. I especially love the backpack. It never fails that when I fly there is no room in the overhead bins. This is great to go under the seat in front of you!
So glad I found your channel! I’ll definitely be watching more.
Just discovered your UA-cam channel, love it! Subscribed, as I like different ideas on packing and traveling. Looking for a new bag that’s versatile enough to work as just Carry-On. Thanks for sharing, excited to see more of your videos!
Thank you for this video. I will be traveling in a month and this is a big help on what to pack and how to pack.
Thanks for the packing tips! I always use packing cubes, they are great.
Thank you! I will be ordering the cubes. I am enjoying your teaching method.
I’ve probably only been to a couple dozen countries and only as a tourist at up to two weeks at a time, but I’ve traveled a lot in my life for work and pleasure and love to think about packing and plan for trips. But, you have a lot to take given what you do in your life, so you’re packing pretty well, and I always love a packing video! Here’s my take on my latest experience so far.
I carry a pair of blunt kiddie scissors in my carry on, but I also carry these curved blunt eyeliner scissors in case they ever take the kiddie scissors, but they haven’t so far. I also put a pair of kiddie scissors in my check in just in case. It always helps to be able to cut strings and plastic packaging and most things that are almost impossible with bare hands.
I like packing cubes in a way I didn’t expect. When I get to a place, I pull them all out and put them in the drawers of a hotel or cruise and then slide the luggage under the bed or put it in the closet to get it out of the way. So, this way I live out of my cubes, but not out of my suitcase.
Shoes are the worst for space, but I found putting them in oversized freezer bags (2 gallon) keeps the dirt away from everything else, plus allows me to see what’s in them. Plus, I need really good supporting shoes, so I can’t get away with thin shoes no matter how good they are for the majority of people. Even my hotel flip flops have extra thick cushions. So, I need the extra space.
I also use quart and gallon sized freezer bags to store cables and their matching adapters, plug ins and the accessories that go with them (phone, charger, hard drive). I also label them with the build in label on the outside. That way I can see everything and it’s easy to slide everything in pockets and see what’s in what.
I have those Sony headphones (or very similar) and they are the best! I tried corded ear buds but they hurt after a few hours on the plane. They are worth taking up the extra space.
I tried the one bag travel thing and it’s great … except I usually travel with a big group, and then I found I’m always waiting for the group to get their luggage anyhow, so I gave up and just travel with a check in and a carry on. It depends on if I’m traveling in Europe or not as to if I can put the carry on under the seat in front of me or not (I have various sizes of luggage to do that). It’s always hard, though, I always want to over pack. I’ve lost my check in once and it taught me to make sure I pack a few days of clothes in the carry on, but otherwise, it gives me more freedom to pack those extras just in case.
Just found your channel and I’m binge watching! Love love love. That backpack looks amazing! More expensive then I could ever afford
Started to travel late in life but absolutely love it. Love your packing tips. Will absolutely use them.
Love that I just found your channel, I’m about to start my remote journey and have been looking at so many backpacks. Haven’t bought one yet so this was helpful.. winning one would help of course, but I look forward to finding/listening to your podcast
Lots of good tips. thx. I do pack a cinch sack that has my essentials when I am seated such as snacks, earbuds, sanitizer, toothpaste/brush, fem. napkin, phone, sml water bottle, ibuprofen... The cinch sack is in my carry on & I pull that out when I get to my seat.
I love the Minaal bags and use the Daily 2.0 as a packable day bag/work bag as it compresses well in the luggage..
Thanks for sharing. I’m traveling next month so this will be very helpful.
I love compression packing cubes for organization and space saving! New subscriber! Love your channel!❤
Love to travel and learned such great tips from you! THanks!
I just bought a 4 wheel duffle from Eagle Creek to replace my old Antler rolling duffle. I like these because they are one big compartment which makes packing with cubes so much easier. And, you can then stand it up, everything falls to the bottom and you can stuff more in the top.
This looks wonderful ! Nice tips . Thanks for your travel expertise ☺️
Love your tips. Very enlightening. I liked the duffel type tips. Thanks for sharing 😉
