      Hi guys! In regards to the lightsaber question and it being controlled by the force, we can rule it out because General Greivous from Ep III can't use the force, he's mostly a droid and he can wield up to 4 lightsabers at once.

      Kyle Simmons Also didnt finn (the ex-stormtrooper) use it briefly in episode 7? But disney seems to have no grip on star wars lore anyways so greivous is probably a better example

    I guess I'm in the minority, but I actually loved reading the instruction booklet as a kid. There were pictures, and it told you and prepared you about the game, gave you back story that might not get mentioned in the game.... I don't know, I would still read manuals if games had them anymore. It was satisfying holding that booklet.

    • @pakasack

      Some instruction books were much better than others, depending on the games/system. I remember Sega Genesis manuals were garbage, black and white and cheap looking, compared to SNES/N64 manuals.

    This is one of those Star Wars which actually would have made a great Star Wars movie in reality. Shadows of the Empire had a really good story which was in between Empire Strikes back and before Return of the Jedi.

      Probably because he doesn't identify with the series. It was just a job for him. So who cares what he thinks? The dude is practically senile now anyway. The Han/Greedo alteration changed the tone of the character--it was significant (the Ewok song changed nothing significant, btw).

      +lum0s filmmakers and actors can't focus their career on just one big project. Artist and creators have to move on to other things once they are done and start the same process all over again. That's the beauty of it, and that's where you get your adrenaline going again. Shooting a movie is like climbing a high mountain and once you get to the type you realized that it is the on of that and have to start all over again to claim that mountain all over again with another movie. It's like a normal person staying flipping burgers all of his life time. Eventually he would like to do something else in the company or move on to other things.

    I have to disagree with James and mike about the instructions. I miss the old instruction booklets. I use to sit down and read them, alot of the time on the way home from the store, getting all excited to play the game. Then by the time we got home I already knew the basics of the game and how to play. Not to mention some of the booklets had some decent back stories and lore thrown in, etc. Now you just get either nothing or just some pc code and an ad for some other game. I just got DAI and something like that would have had a nice sized book back in the day filled with story etc. One of the big criticisms on DAI was the idea that if you were new to the story you might not know who some of the people or factions were. Back in the day you never had that issue cause you had the book filled with it. Nowadays you have to pay top dollar for some extra package version to get any of that. Its kind of sad really.

    That AT-ST is no joke. I remember playing this game at launch and, up to this point, thinking that it was cake.
    NOPE.
    The lasers tear you to shreds if you're in front of the walker, and constantly repositioning to stay behind it (hit-and-flee) was a tough task-- especially using the blaster, which is weak.
    It's an epic battle, though, and you can feel your pulse getting faster as you're trying to beat this boss. One man against a walker? Dash Rendar was the Solid Snake of his time! (Minus the talking.)
    Can't wait for Part 2 next week!

      Stay at the door to the giant room. When the AT-ST turns his back, unload on him. Hide behind the wall when he turns your way. You can tell by the audio of its movements if it's facing or turning. . . Makes the battle a lot quicker and easier. I don't know why other people didn't think to do this. XP

    Shadows of the Empire should really have been a movie. It's got a cool story, neat characters and one of the most realistic and three-dimensional stories in all of the Star Wars universe. There are no bad guys in it; you feel somewhat sorry for Xizor because his family was killed by Darth Vader, yet you know that Vader himself isn't pure evil and it shows multiple times in the story - he's a fallen hero fighting to retain his last senses of humanity. Dash Rendar is a badass, like Han Solo without a heart. It's just an all-round good idea and a neat concept - it's a shame it never became a film; heck, I think it could have outdone Return of the Jedi (which is, really, just a rehash of Star Wars; not saying it's bad, though!)...but instead, we got the prequel trilogy. Talk about a letdown.

    Nerd moment in coming. Lightsabers loop back on themselves they go up and then come back down, sort of how a solar flare does that big loop following the magnetic field of the Sun. Only a much tighter loop and they are so bright that you cannot see the two individual filaments of plasma.
    Bonus nerdy fact, this is why lightsabers last so long between charges they only expend energy as they slice through things. Just turning it on and leaving it on requires almost no power.

But looking at it now, with those smeared, muddy textures, it's hard to believe I genuinely felt this looked as close to the reality of a Star Wars movie as I did. The graphics have not aged well. Still, it was the game that convinced me to buy an N64 over the PS or the Saturn.

    16:27 No. I think the light saber only adjusts to it's usual limit. There was a part in Empire Strikes Back when Luke was out in the freezing cold and then he got badly injured by a yeti. Han Solo came and rescued Luke and he used Luke's light saber to cut open the camel to stuff Luke inside it to keep him warm. I doubt any force power came into play because that yeti knocked Luke senseless. The whole time Luke was saying "Ben... Ben.... .... ...Ben."

      there's star wars books that explain the lightsaber length. there's merely a adjustable screw/pin like thing that adjusts the blade length. it's all admitted through kyber crystals

    • @CaptWesStarwind
      @CaptWesStarwind 6 років тому

      Yes it has to do with Kyber crystals focusing the beam somehow? The iidea that its a tight arc not a beam makes the most sense in keeping it at a set length. Also other crystals can be used to color the blade. You can even have adjustable lengths and settings. ie. They can be set to more of a stun mode for training.

    • @wisewolftony
      @wisewolftony 4 роки тому +1

      @@Markell1991 I thought something similar I always looked at it as basically being all in the kyber crystal which power the sabers. As they are force attuned. So I just figured the length of it is due to that. Basically the Crystal added with the hilt puts out a certain amount of energy which makes it so the lightsaber blade only goes to a certain length. Kind of make sense to me when you think of the fact that Kylo's saber has a cracked Kyber Crystal in it which is why it looks different compared to it just being a straight beam of light it instead looks different like the beam of light is crackling.

    Most of what George Lucas claimed about his movies is untrue. He never originally planned there to be more than one movie, he never intended for Darth Vader to be Luke's father or Leia be his sister, he didn't think that the Clone Wars was something to be expanded upon, he just made it up as he went along. That's not to say the original old three movies aren't good - on the contrary, Empire is the best out of all Star Wars movies in my opinion, but I wish people would stop pretending that everything was part of some grand master plan. We can clearly see that the prequel trilogy was not well thought-out and that many plot-threads don't work with the old trilogy.

  • @sexhaie
    @sexhaie 9 років тому +1

    the way i see it, james is kind of right about "nothing happens after 'return of the jedi'" but i believe "force awakens" focuses on "neo-dark force" troops, where enthusiast and supporters of the dark side, revamp the whole imperial army, and like an ISIS thing, they recruit and manipulate young teenagers to joining the stormtrooper army, making them believe "hey this shit is all cool, you'll be fighting against a hypocritical alliance" and thus in the teaser, you see Finn in a stormtrooper uniform popping up and freaking out like he just got out of an accident and had a huge realization. so most likely, the new trilogy is going to be what it gives away, the dark side makes a comeback and the force is truly awoken to stamp it out. the dark side could be this thing that is beyond physical and can awake within anyone who wants power over humanity.

    Stars Wars was good but never because of George Lucas alone. He steals a lot of ideas from Dune. Tatooine is Arrakis, the Jedi are the Bene Gesserit, Luke Skywalker is Paul Atreides, the governing body of the Galaxy is an empire, and even princess Leia sounds like Princess Alia, who is also a simbling to the protagonist, Paul. I'm sure there's still even more parallels between the two.

    did they watch the movies? even han uses a lightsaber fine, the force has nothing to do with it, they're really just pieces of technology like a blaster. before you ask why only jedi use them then, it's because the force amplifies their abilities and senses so only they can really use them effectively. general grievous for example used them because he had a fairly capable body, but was obviously still pretty shitty compared to actual jedi
