  • Following on from the video a couple of weeks back where I tried out a new leather colourant I thought it was time to tackle the worst seat in the car! Also, the centre armrest & leather door handle areas receive a lot of contact & were showing signs of age....
Also, I attempt to clean the contoured plastic door trim...

Crawford Thanks, well the passenger seat has been done a few weeks now & is holding up just fine. I trust the stuff from furniture clinic quite a lot because I’ve used it on numerous cars so I’m confident.
A full seat refurb would be different though - I would remove the seat from the car, rub down/sand/fill cracks, dye colour & then lacquer the surface. I just wanted an easier solution with this car & this all-in-one stuff seems pretty awesome so far!

I did that to my s/h L322, lucky I had the two tone interior so that wasn’t too bad. I bout the coloured leather paint but never got round to it, wish I did.
The plastic door cards are the biggest bastard to clean it! I eventually used bleach and washing up liquid and a tooth brush. Sure enough it lifted all the dirt out but make sure you clean it away as the car smelt like a swimming baths for a month!
Careful around the black window switches housing and anything black like the steering wheel struts as they have a rubbery peelable film on it that goes with wear and tear. Had remove all that too ffs!
7 years down the line and I saw it removed as scrap as beyond economical repair! It would have been cheaper if the wife and kids were on heroin that keeping that on the road with countless repairs and new tyres! Good fun though!

6 months ago I indulged in a high mileage L322 tdv8. Love it. I had the same issue with ingrained dirt in the door card plastics, I borrowed a steam cleaner and that shifted it. Took a while but effective, no detergents/chemicals etc and it looked brand new afterwards.

with the help of a steam cleaner is the work easy. Chemical-cleaners leave residues, that can destroy the plastic over time. - Thank You for making this videos... Maybe some tough solvent and and a scrubbing brush on the plastics then. Dirt must of become really ingrained in the texture of the plastic, should theoretically scrub out with a bit of force..

Halfords dash and interior trim cleaning spray and a toothbrush has worked for me but I have black interior so obviously doesn’t show dirt as much as cream. Toothbrush works well though but takes much longer of course.

If you dissolve a scoop of washing up powder in warm water, apply the water liberally to the plastic and allow to absorb.....biological powder actually attracts dirt/ contaminants from the surface, it dissolves grime thats filled the crevices or pattern in the plastic, allowing the microfiber clothes to lift the dirt.

Hi there, I got a D2 three years ago , i did the outside and the wife did the inside, the outside is very nice, BUT THE INSIDE IS LIKE BRAND NEW, she said to try FLASH with BLEACH, ITS in a spray plastic container . spray it on and leave for a few mins , then try a stiff tooth brush. that should work , and there,s always a dry steamer , by KARCHER , THEY DO WORK. try a bit first . good luck take care , THOSE WHO MOT,d THAT CAR SHOULD BE IN JAIL. stay well.

      Hi there
I like making my car outshine everyone else's (In and Out). So I loved your video.
I would appreciate to know where can I find my colour code. The beige colour in the Discovery is different from yours.
For your plastic, you can try the nail varnish removal (Nail varnish disolvant). It has plenty of alcohol (over 60% to 80%), enough to cut through most stains. Try scrubbing with the green part of dish washing sponge or a very strong toothbrush.
I hope this is helpful and works for you or someone else.

Yeah, I imagine they did it the 2-stage way then. Yes when I coloured the Mercedes seats they were a little dusty/rough to the touch straight after. It’ll be fine - either after a bit of use, or you could give them a soft rub down with leather conditioner & something mildly abrasive like a ‘magic eraser’ - but don’t rub too hard 👍
