Love the momagami paper! Holly, my 12 year old granddaughter, came into the house while I was sitting at the table, elbow deep in lotion, running my hands over some scrapbook paper. She stopped in her tracks and demanded "Nana, what kind of menace to society ARE you? What are you doing???" I explained the fine art of momagami to her, but she isn't buying it yet. I think she believes I'm just old, and we old folks have some strange ideas!

Hi Gayle, I’m really enjoying making momagami too! Thanks for introducing it to us. While at the Dollar Tree picking up my hand lotion, I discovered their new calendars for next year that have beautifully illustrated florals. When cut apart, the pages make similar weight and sized (about 12 x 12) as scrapbook paper. They work well for momagami and you get a dozen beautiful pages for just $1.25!
I agree, both Joanns and Hobby Lobby have decreased the paper crafting sections.
One of the things I love about watching you is your willingness to experiment when you’re crafting.

This is a great idea. I've only made one small piece of momigami so far, to test it out. The tactile quality really is lovely. Sewing it would really add to the sense of it being fabric-like, too. Fun video, Gayle. ❤ Belinda xxx
I also love the feel. I did 6 sheets of coordinated paper and made a journal cover. There’s enough to do another but I’ll leave the rest for ephemera. I too thought about sewing around each piece. I think with the texture it will feel just like it’s quilted. Also did a pink cover with a ton of pink little scraps that was monagamied. Something new to do with scraps. Thanks for sharing.
Gi, I kn0w this video was done 4 years ago. However, it is revelant to a project my friend and I have challenged ourselves to. We are taking random household items and repourpase them. Paper rolls, paper plates, paper towels, etc. Having a great time getting the juices to flow.

Good morning Gayle! These covers will be nice for a Fall journal. I've been wanting to try momagami since watching your first video but haven't gotten around to it. I think I've been inspired now to try a few pages to use for decorating tags and such. I'm looking forward to the wonderful scent and soft texture. Of course a little extra softening on the hands won't hurt either 🙂 It's always nice when the older grands come for a visit on their own, isn't it? This time is so precious ❤ Take care. The white Amazon bubble packaging I have used for covers but I sewed blue Jean cloth over it. I sewed around the edges and down the center (spine). I never thought about using paper and fabric tac since it was shiny I didn’t think glue would work. Needless to say it made a yummy crunchy cover. I used Amy’s (CraftyCatUSA) tutorial on the grungy jeans cover it was a huge hit. I love the momagami paper how did I miss your video on that! Yes, our Hobby Lobby has shrunk their paper section. Seems like the Circuit section is taking over. We have a really small Joann's but I did hear we are getting a Michaels coming.😊❤
They are also reducing their paper section.
Good afternoon. Didn’t get to watch this morning 🙄 but enjoying the mamagami collage cover now ! Glad someone suggested this. Turned out quite nice. I like it. I like the inside collage better than the outside 😁. I too am disappointed that the stores have cut down on their paper crafting supplies. I had read recently that Hobby Lobby was going to cut down on all their craft supplies & leaning more towards home decor. I noticed a big cut in their yarn too at my stores.

I haven’t tried fabric softener. I’m not sure I’d want to work the fabric softener with my hands. 🥴. Hand lotion seems a natural….cool paper and soft hands all at the same time. 😊❤

Love the idea of momagami covers.I loved trying the momagami. Also I hear you on going outside to warm up from Ac when we were on vacation at our daughters in Austin they keep the Ac at 65 degrees Chewy and I would go outside to sit in the sun and warm up several times a day

Gayle you should buy a Teflon bone folder. I remember a couple of weeks ago you were aggressively bone folding and you ripped a couple of pieces that were still wet and then you didn’t want to smooth down the momigami because you didn’t want to rip it but a Teflon bone folder is wonderful. It doesn’t rip anything if you’re bone folding a crease on dark colored paper it doesn’t leave those shiny marks. It took me a little while to get used to it because it was thicker than I was used to using, but now I love it.

I love how the momagami looks on the tag. You can see the texture it brings even on the TV so I can only imagine what it looks like in person. I bet the feel is yummy. I do plan on making some and doing the beeswax on paper also. Just haven’t found the time yet😊. Would the Momba iWork with the pattern paper. I’m doing a sewing ledger at the moment and thought it would be cool in it but wasn’t sure if it would tear since the paper is so thin. I just can’t remember if you did tissue paper or not. I have some sewing I need to get done today. I’m working on an idea and haven’t seen it any where. So sewing is the plan for today. ❤️😊🦋
Hi, dear Freida! I’m not sure how momagami will work on tissue paper. Worth a try though! You might just have to be super careful squishing it and unfolding it. ❤

Hi, love watching your videos, you do really different things. Have to say I am surprised your hand cream paper sticks at all. Hand cream with the oils in it wouldn’t let you keep a bandaid on a cut finger. I wonder if it this paper stays stuck down?

Hi Gayle! What perfect timing this is for me! I just retired 7-28, and I am going g to Texas to visit family for a while. I am taking my craft stuff since I am driving g from Ohio and I am going to make my sister a reading journal as she reads alot ,of course inspired by the journal you made for your daughter-in-law. I have some beautiful papers related to reading with young ladies in chairs and the sliding ladder with bookshelves like a library. I can't remember the name of the pad without going and getting it. Thank you always for such wonderful inspiration!!

Good mornin' Gayle. Fun project. Just an FYI on the plastic envelope. I haven't found a glue yet that I trust to hold for long on it. I gave up trying and use them for padding and crunch by cutting them to size and sliding them into a non-padded paper envelope. Of course you can always sew them. 😁 I can't help but wonder if you "just love the texture" of momigami 😂😂😂You're a hoot. 😁 Can't wait to see them after you sew them. TFS Hope you have a great day. 🌞

On Etsy, search fussy cut birds or fussy cut butterflies and lots of options for digitals will come up. Or you can cut images from books. ❤

I still want to try it for a cover regardless. Hello Gayle , well I don’t know if mommaggami is either good or bad - I tried it but didn’t impress me that much - yeah the nails & colour do look very pretty & takes awhile for everything to completely dry & then there’s the prob of getting the glue on new mats ? Use your book pages or the giant calendar pads that you have from your old work-place (?) -- sacrifice , yeah we all do have our crosses to bare in the years of 21st century 😅 Don’t gum up your sewing machine ! Patience is a virtue ! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🥰😇😁🤣😇. Happy Days !!!!!!

Hi Gayle, do you think watered down PVA glue applied with a brush or collage medium change the texture of the momagami or reduce the "crunch" of the envelope? TIA
Mod Podge does change the crunch and texture, so I would imagine that oval glue would too. ❤
Try YES Paste instead of the glue stick 😉. Works the same but you won't eat up your sticks.
Good morning Gayle! I don't mean to be a smarty pants, but would it be helpful to think of journal 4 as the Doily Journal? Then you could use the doily scraps from your plastic pouch, and some from your doily digitals. You could also lace and ribbon and ruffle it up. It was just a thought, since journal 4 is undefined.
