Well said sir. Thank you
Thank you.
I am a beginner with keen interest in PLC automation, I dont even know where to start from but I am eager to begin . I have started studying about PLC. But I will need as much advice as I can get.
Hello, what do you need help with next? Are you stuck on anything specific?
I'm electrical engineering student.I came to know about PLC and its ladder logic programming when i was in 3rd year. I have started learning from bit logic operations. Building a logic using those bits and contacts found it really interesting. I have also done a MINI PROJECT named SIMULATION BASED SEMI AUTOMATED DRILL JOB USING PLC. I have used WPLSOFT (DELTA) as programming software .This build the curios in me to learn and build the logic. Then have enrolled in UDEMY for a paid course and there i have learned all the instructions(intermediate level) and also about the siemens TIA portal software till now. But,being a fresher, whatelse should i know and i must do about PLCs to become a professional PLC programmer. Please guide me sir because i have chosen INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION as my career especially a PLC programmer. Where should i focus more so that i can be a good professional PLC programmer .And guide me if am in a wrong track. I hope that you guide me sir.
THANKS in advance
I’m currently learning on a slc 500. I think my output not working. Next I’m looking at compactlogix l24er-qb1b off eBay. Getting my AS degree. I got three years on working on working control panels and cad design from schematics electrical/some hydraulic to mechanical.
Sounds great, stay strong!
Please excuse me if my question is dumb.
How good should one be with electrics and electronics in order to be able to learn plc programming.
I have been fixing and working with block machines wich can produce concrete paving stones. I was curios to find out if in order to programm a plc, i nees to know electrics.
Electronics knowledge most certainly can help.
This is so useful, thanks
You're welcome!
great stuff
Thank you.
Is there a list for the top 10 plc websites? Pls and thanks
Just google PLC forums and blogs. Then go to Facebook and LinkedIn and look for PLC groups. Finally look at the online PLC training companies and discover if they have forums for their students.
Thank you for this high value advices!!
Greetings from Belgium
dank je, 'thank you' for the compliment my friend.
Hi, it was a great 19 min of my life.
I'm an electrical engineer student (Final year) but i have a low GPA (cuz i got a mental health issues during a collage journey), but at the same i have i big motive to learn a PLC programming, i started re-learn control systems basics and classic control circuits (BTW these skills helps me overcoming my anxiety), so do i still have a chance to get a job into this industry disregard my low GPA ?
I hope u see My comment as soon as possible.
cheers.
Your GPA isn't what's important, its your work ethic. Stick with learning and you will succeed. Let me know if you need help.

Is there any free software for any plc. That I can download in my computer please let me thank you.
I would recommend starting with Rockwell Automations - Micrologix software. There is a great resource to help you get started at - theautomationblog.com/free-micrologix-1000-programming-software/
Hi! Thank you so much for your words of wisdom. I am a mechanical engineer/ design engineer looking to make a career shift to automation engineering. I want to take your advice and start practicing programming my own PLC at home. Do you have a cheap PLC in mind that I should look at buying?
Hello Samuel, there are a few options for those who want to start learning use free software. You could start with Automationdirect, Productivity programming suite. You could start with RSLogix 500 from Rockwell Automation or you could start using Siemens S7 TIA Portal for a nominal cost or around $60 US. These days you have LOTS of options.
Samuel, let me know if you have any questions?
If I could add my 2 bits worth I'd go with the productivity series plc's from automation direct. Software is free and really good tec support. I work on industrial air compressors so have some experience with control wiring but no plc experience. Bought the productivity 2000 starter kit and 2 extra modules at the first of March and less than 2 weeks later working with it in my spare time I can already simulate temperature and have written a simple star/delta program. Looking foward to hooking up the relays and lights to watch it run as close to real time as possible without actually hooking it up to 460 3 phase.
Thanks for the info Sir!..What are the best websites to learn plc from ?
Try, www.myplctraining.com
Hello sir, I have basic knowledge and understanding of logic but as a fresher I am not able get an entry in company as they need experience. Without starting how can I have an experience. Please provide me a ways to get into company.
