How do I repair my damaged LED strip lights? Push connectors repair

- We often get asked how to repair your LED strip lights. Well, there are a number of ways to repair your LED strip lights and a number of reasons for them being faulty.
In this video we take a look at an LED strip that is faulty due to a 'missing resistor'.
As there is a missing resistor on the blue channel then that section (from cut point to cut point) will not light up blue. All other lights before and after that cut point will work fine, as the way the LED strip lights are made with damagaed / missing resistors would only affect a scetion of strip up to the cut point.
To resolve this issue you can solder in a new peice of strip or you can solder in a new resistor, or as in this video you can use the solderless connectors.
These are ideal as anybody can use these to resolve their issue without the need for an electrician or the ability to solder.
You simply cut out the faulty section from the 2 cut points,
then get a new peice and attach the 2 connectors and clip them back into the original LED strip.

mine aren’t even out of the rolls yet, it fell off of my bed when I was moving them, one of three fell off and won’t work, the other two only work at a certain angle, I literally just got these for Christmas and my mum bought them, it took so much convincing for them, I don’t know what to do, oh jeez please help

hmmm, this sounds strange! have you checked closely that the pins match up correctly and are not touching each other or crossed over?

The LED strip just came apart? That sounds crazy! Maybe the PCB is super thin? I would contact your supplier as that shouldn't be happening!
What is that product you use to connect?
Go onto amazon or ebay, and search for 'led strip connector' you then need to find the right size for your strip
so if you have white it will only be 2 pins. BUT you can have white at 8mm, 10mm or 12mm so measure your strip width first!
Then you have RGB which will be 4 pins (RGB and +) again there are either 10mm or 12mm for this tyoe so measure first
Then you have RGBW which will be 5 pins (RGBW and +) again there are either 10mm or 12mm for this type so measure first
You can increase youe search term detail, by saying something like 'RGBW LED strip connector'
or 'white LED strip connector'
There are also connectors that have leads on them so you can wire into a power supply. Or cables that have a leads so you can go around corners!
sooo the part of where you connect the strip to the adapter ripped off connecting for the colours. how do i repair the wires?

my green light isn't working on all the leds exept the starting part... i suppose it is the part you replaced in this video that is broken but how do I replace the fist one??
my LED lights haven’t been used for 2 weeks, and the only colour showing when plugged in is a very faint blue, do you know how or if i could fix this?
That sounds like an issue with the power supply if anything
My blue stopped working on 3 sections on 2 strips after a couple of months on my wall
i have 9 sections where blue doesn't work and 1 section where red doesn't work. i have many replacement strip sections but wanna see if i can fix them. if i push on the resistor on the faulty strip with a screwdriver or wire it comes back on and works fine. I hear this is because of a dry solder joint, is there a video showing how to fix these?

How would I repair the strip if I damaged it about 10cm from the start?
Mine mess up in sets of 3, it’s also a black remote with black backgrounds for the lights (if that makes sense), it’s also all buttons for the remote. it’s on my wall too. some of the green and some of the blue is messed up for others

Hi just wondering if i had a 5m long 5volt at 2amps how do you work out how much power does it use on a 12volt system is it 10watts per hour or is it 50watts per hour? Any help would be much appreciated thanks.

Hello, tried it with my strips but the cut end just lights up in white. I tried to connect two 5m strips together this way, and the other doesn't light up.

What happens if it works up until a certain point then stops for the rest? It worked just fine until it was bent in a certain area, now the red channel from that section and onwards does not work

I could use your help. I purchased 5 sets for a studio. The design om the on off to USB is a horrible design. It starts with the button but the cord is super short, then there is a longer one of course for the USB. Problem is My studio desk is big and I need more lengthen the wite of the button side a foot or so, so I can drill a hole and be able to reach the button. Can I do this and if show should I not use line from tje USB side as that is more splicing but get what type of wire to add 12" or 16" max after button so I can place the button within reason? Thank god my dads an electrician 😅 my led strip is showing no colour in two sections for blue, and in those same sections is shows the analogous colours for all cool toned colours. All warm toned colours are fine, ugh! This just happened at random
Also, my led’s are waterproof so the silicon cover makes it hard to see if theres damage in the resistors

I was trying to remove the tape on the one side of the led for the 90 degree turns since it was getting caught on my sheets and being ripped off and I accidentally cut two of the wires of the inside now one side is green the other blue. Hopefully I can return it.

Can anyone tell me where you would get the strip to use for the repair? I know they are cheap, but I see no sense in buying a whole new strip with the remote and all just to use about 8 inches of the strip for a repair. It's just the led strip I need. Thanks in advance

I don't know why would I do that cuz I had a cut a piece off I have a 100ft strip led lights and so I thought I could get it to light up the piece that was cut off the strip light I put it on the metal piece with the copper part orange piece and and half of the lights stopped working now messed it up.
Mine are already on the wall and as I press on any of the blue or green colours, about 4 of the lights are a different colour. I’m so confused 🤷♀️
That means either your red, blue, or green light is out on those 4 lights and there isnt really a fix for that
the blue light on half of the strip is not lighting iwth enough brightness. it comes and goes.

I saw the connectors on Amazon! I got my lights from Walmart, worst idea ever. I didn't have connects either, so I'm using a bunch of usbs. One of my strips were $20, and only 6.5 ft. There are ones on Amazon 16.6 feet, the same price.

I have an issue with one of my led strips, when I connect the other two all colours including white work however on the second white all the colours work apart from white, why could this be?
this could take place because of the brandw because some brands led strips are very bad. or like other people you where putting them up and they got stuck to somthing like carpet or somthing furry or soft and when they tried to take the led strip off it broke off or they pulled it to hard and they multistrip rather broke or its just the brand go to amazon and buy a whole new led strip or just go to amazon and search up (led strip conecters) then once you do that you are going to have to find the right size for them alr?
@@OfficialCrispyChips contacted the manufacturer of the LED’s I purchased, turns out its a “common issue” He didn’t even bother replying to me where I should ship them back, they just gave me a refund... Probably cost them pennies to make and they sell it x6

yes you'll need connectors.
There’s a billion of these. This is the first video that pops up. There is not a single video on how to fix the BEGINNING SECTION of a strip. I have no faith in humanity.

There is one faulty section of my LEDs and they are affecting the rest of them. When I press red the lights turn blue and the faulty section either doenst work or turns green. When I press blue the lights turn red. How would I fix this. I really dont want to have to buy a whole new set of lights

/me Watches OP cut out a *whole* segment of led tape in horror. Looks at my reel of led tape and finds missing resistor position. Checks a working segment's equivalent smd resistor position value, and takes note. Walks over to parts donor boards, searching for matching redistor value of equivalent size. Finds one, salvages and solders it to tape's missing resistor pads. Tests and jumps in glee at working unbutchered led tape.

Hi, I just bought my LED lights and they were working fine but when I woke up the next morning they weren’t on anymore and I tried switching off and disconnecting it but it doesn’t turn on. Tho when I touch the metal tiny dots for colour on the strip, the light in that area comes on with that colour and when I stop touching it the light goes off
Idk if it’s because I cut it to shorten it (on the manual, it says I can cut it and there’s a scissor drawing on the copper part)

My led strip broke between the connection points, I'm guessing this means I've now got over 10 ft of led lights that are now usable
I was installing one of my led lights and was moving on to the other one but when I turned it on the other one didn't light up ??
