Hollywood today needs more people like Jimmy Stewart. His humility is my favorite attribute of his. Giving praise where praise is due, not focusing on himself. I watch "It's a Wonderful Life" every Christmas. ❤
If anyone needed proof just how much Jimmy Stewart was loved in Hollywood, just the fact that Princess Grace was sitting beside him says it all. She almost never returned to Hollywood for any public event. So sad that only 2 years late she was dead.
What a great man and actor. What career he had. Jimmy Stewart is my favorite actor. His hard to beat. I really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing this video.
A pity that John Wayne had died the Summer before on June 11, 1979, so he couldn't honor his friend and colleague, especially in Duke's last film, "The Shootist" that they shared together. They don't make them like these folks anymore. Henry Fonda was not long for this world with his passing with his last film, "On Golden Pond" in 1981 and his passing on August 12, 1982. So many of these wonderful folks are now gone to the Eternal. And I miss them all and am grateful for the talent they left behind. More than a few of these folks passed within a few years of this presentation.
My husband was the doorman at the Caladonian Hotel in Edinburgh for over 40 years. He was fortunate enough yo meet a lot of interesting people over that time. One of these people was a gentleman named Lloyd Ogilvie who was the 14th Minister for the senate in America. He was great friends with James Stewart and would meet him for breakfast at the Bellaire Country Club although Mr Stewart never ever played golf.He said he was one of the nicest kindest people he had ever met.
I didn't get the joke about his mother being his same age. Hoffman either seemed humbled, shy, uncomfortable, or awed by all that he was given to stand there and talk from his youthful perspective in 1980. And how Hoffman had never seen "It's A Wonderful Life" before this date is fascinating. As for Stewart's war experience, it's enough to say that Stewart experienced his own trauma and PTSD for many years.
Excellent a Beautiful Tribute! My dad a projectionist who had a friend called Frank he had turned his garage into a perfect 🎥 chairs just like sixpence a time.. popcorn My mum was an usherette...Thank You ❤
or perhaps not ... both my Canadian uncles signed up & served overseas & both returned to Canada, married, had their children & got on with life not speaking of the war which was kinda standard there ...

From the beginning to the end, this was pure class that I don’t think we’ll ever see again at this level!

What great speech Dustin Hoffman delivered.
