- Red dot sights are proving to be faster, easier and safer then traditional front and rear sights. Here I share my thoughts on the Holosun 507K red dot as I show you how to install it on the Sig Sauer 365X Macro compact.

Back for my 2nd gun class, at age 75......🤦🏻♀️......I watched the PROGRESSION video last night......I like this 17 round weapon
That is awesome. Sounds like you are keeping young.
I purchased the same pistol and Holosun, I have carried a Sig P938 with the 22 conversion kit. Nice video thank you!
Very informative video, much more down to earth and authentic compared to other videos I’ve watched. Thank you!
Awesome, very helpful, just got the x macro and going with this optic, I had no idea it was this easy, thank you!
Great video that made sense and not fast and speech was fluid. I also am making a transition from my beloved SIG P938 which I have carried since 2011 "i have the 22 conversion for it" but same reasoning with "rats in packs". I purchased my x-Macro when I retired in September of 2022 and also purchased the same Holosun "I had the Romeo Pro on my P320" but prefer the Holosun. I watched your video and decided to mount the Holosun on my x-Maco this evening. Going to your website to view other videos as I also am a "prepper". Against thank you for an outstanding video.
Great information and always appreciate learning what others find works for them. Thanks!
Thank you Lulu.
Wow, I’m glad I came across your video. I spoke with a Sig rep today and he said Holoson optic wouldn’t fit!!
That dots going to get dirty as hell when you train now. Also because they moved the dot forward the extractor assembly hinge pin now leaks oil Into the optics mounting plate. Which is not a big deal in the short term for the fully enclosed holosun, unlike the romeo 0 with the exposed battery that will strat to flicker with oil under the battery. Although the holosuns long term exposure to oils and cleaning solutions may pose an issue. However it will eventually seep into your screws via capillary action causing the thread locker to break down. So definitely put some witness marks on those screws. Just a fair warning.
Anyway that's why I stick with the xl. I don't need a rear sight. It's built in to the red dot. But being that close to the ejection port sucks. It gets really cruddy really fast. Plus the issue with the extractor assembly is just annoying.
My advice. Swap the slide or even just the grip module. It's the same fcu. I honestly just added a tactical development group rail adapter and called it a day. I do plan to buy some 17rd mags when they release them on their own. That way I can carry 12, 15, or 17 round mags in the gun or as spare magazines. I even have a p365 grip module for super when I need a super discreet gun. Basically any time I dress up fancy.
However if you swap the slide you can have the xl slide and the macro lower. No comp... but more barrel. So a bit less control. Maybe some .ore velocity. Although with good defensive ammo that extra barrel won't get you much if any extra velocity. With target ammo sure. But most good defensive ammo burns out in under three inch barrels now or days. So that's academic.
I loved my Sig P365 XL too, but I sold it and now have the X Macro on my hip! Ny good buddy who got the XL got hooked up he got 4 mags, 2-15rd and 2-12rd but one of the mags had mag guts in it so it had 14 rounds in the 12rd mag, those mag guts are $33 with tax and shipping, its a lot for 2 extra rounds but its worth it in the end, but he got all the stuff including the Blackpoint Mini Wing. I would have just got the Macro lower but I have made my X Macro a 1 of 1! I cut the threads off a gold match True barrel amd squeezed it in there to stop at the thin metal piece next is porting 3 hokes i. The barrel
Great information and tutorial. Thank you.
You are very welcome.
I just bought the HS 507K in the green dot, and getting ready to install it on my new P365 XMacro Tac Ops, and I'm worried that the first thing I'm going to do is strip the screws on the optic plate, but in viewing this, you nonchalantly removed the screws like it was nothing. Is it that easy, and you used the tool that Holosun provided? Man, that was easy!
How's the 507k, so far. Ordering my tac ups soon and planning on your same setup, thanks
@@willkuoch8491 Great, so far so good. Very visible. I like to use the reticle with the dot in the middle. No problem taking the plate off if you use the Torx 10 bit and use something with a handle so that you have a little more torque. One screw came off easy, and the other was just a little tighter, but no problem.
I can't wait until I get the holes ported in my gold match grade barrel, I barely fit the barrel in there like it was made for a barrel to go a tad further, my gold barrel ends at that piece of metal that splits the holes in the slide, I noticed side by side with the stock barrel it wasn't qwite as toned down but it will when I port the holes in the barrel so you'll be able to look through and see a gold ported barrel through the slot closest to the shooter, the True Match barrels are such AMAZING shooting barrels it's not even funny!!! I added almost a half an inch to the small 3.1 inch barrel so I picked up a tad bit more speed. I have a chrono and Im curious to know the difference! I know there's a measurement where it just drops off, like the .556 AR pistols 10-11 inches is the shortest you want to go and you're still losing a LOT of speed from a 16" barrel!! When you have an 8" barrel in the .556 you'll want to use heavier rounds and tighter rifling to stabilize those rounds. Its losing 400 FPS from 16 inch to 10.5 inch barrel but it drops off dramatically to 820 feet per second at 8 inch from 16 inch barrel in .556! The testing I've done a 5 and 6 inch barrel does the best in these pistol calibers. When you get down to 3 inches you gotta think that bullet is sitting in the breach and that is included in the length of the barrel so 3.1 inch barrel a 9mm when shot is only traveling....hold on going to get the tape I have the stock barrel here, the round is only traveling EXACTLY AND ONLY 2 FRIGGIN INCHES THAT'S ALL YOUR BULLET IS TRAVELING DOWN A 3.1 INCH BARREL. A 9mm NATO FMJ IS EXACTLY 1.1 INCHES IN LENGTH! THAT'S NOT MUCH AT ALL! That is why I added almost a half inch to this X Macro because I wanted better accuracy and more speed out of that 9mm!
I guess its time to check into it. Thx for the info
I also love the Holosun Optics. Might I suggest you check out Primary Arms from Houston TX? They have partnered with Holosun to put the Vulcan ACSS reticle in the 507K, 507C, and several other Holosun Optics. They offer both red & green reticles, but to my 73 year old eyes the green is clearer.
Thanks for the video. Did you consider getting higher sights ? I’m purchasing the same red dot and don’t know if I should install taller sights.
Purple Loctite 222 is best for small optic screws.
Totally agree - that's what it's made for.
Hi the red dot should be tightened to 15 inch pounds. FYI
Yes, correct. Thank you.
@David Each yet t15 is what it usually takes
Any suggestions? My front spring is sticking up just enough to where the Holosun won't lay flat. I don't want to screw it down and damage the red dot in the process and I'm not sure what to do.
Great information, can you tell me if you can co-witness with the rear & forward stock sights?
Atleast you don’t have to file lugs down like you do on the Glock 43x .
Unless you're going to see the XL out of financial need - don't. Soon the X-Macro grip modules will be released along with the 17 round mags. for probably well under 150 dollars you could have a second 17+1 weapon on hand or spare parts or to trade. Hope fore the best - plan for the worst.
Interesting. ❤️
You have recoil sockets on the Holosun, 2 in front. Where are the lugs that these fit into?
Prefer EPS Carry over 507/407k for close emitter and solar failsafe in some variations (source: I have the 507k in red and green and EPS Carry MRS in red)
Agreed. EPS is an upgrade for sure.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely take a look at that.
Not in battery life it's not. It uses a much harder to find battery ghat has about 30% less capacity. Which is okay for some but others, like people who are color blind or older, who need more brightness will kill batteries far faster.
@@project86xero Am i missing something? I just looked up EPS carry MRS red battery life as well as 507k red battery life and they're both rated at 50000 hours. This is on top of the fact that EPS Carry MRS comes with solar panel and more than likely be able to operate without the battery in day light
Does the eps carrry co-witness with the sig oem iron sights?
What kind of tool can I use to take off the holosun? The little tool they gave me is too flimsy to get the screws out.
What about the 507C? Is it gonna fit like the 507K?
I recently purchased the 507C and just eyeballing it, I don't think its going to fit the Macro. I will work on that this weekend, but I have a feeling I'm going to have to have to remove a 507K off of one of my other guns to put on this one and the C will have to go on another one of my guns.
Has it rusted yet?
Does it co-witness with the iron sights?
Just barely can see them. I would say it's enough to use as a backup but I went ahead and put taller sights on it. I like to see just a bit more of the irons. Definitely useable though.
What irons did you add?
@@dt7037 sigs x-ray3 suppressor sights. I have been told the XS sights F8 work as well and aren't quite as tall as sigs.
Does it co-witness with the sights on the X-Macro?
How is the holster compatibility?
The rail on the X macro will not allow it to work in holsters designed for other 365 models.
Please do not use the provided holosun torx wrench it will not hold up and May strip the screw head please use a quality torx driver
It's not the same. It will print more because of the handle length, and be heavier with the extra rounds. Not a small gun
He never said it was a "small gun." It's no bigger than a Glock 43. Of course, it's going to be heavier with more rounds. You win the "keen sense of the obvious" award...
Just got a Holosun 407c but it doesn’t fit on my p365 macro, is there a specific model of 407c that is defined to drop in?
I have the same gun and I called Holosun and they told me that the 407K and 507K version are the ones that fit this model. The other issue I have run up with is that the included sets of screws with the site do not fit. The included cover plate screws for the Sig are too short. Now looking at options to get that issue taken care of
Thank you for supporting the Chinese economy.
We all have to do our part. You aren't using a computer or cell phone where 90% of the parts come from China, are you?
Americans support cheap products.
Why pay more?
Glad your home and life are Chinese-made products free! Good for you if it can possibly be true.
@@LDSPrepper I certainly don't have Chinese optics.
You have no choice when it comes to something, not everything… Glocks all the way.
Which screws do I use out of box
What's a good optic plate for this gun?
