If someone gets "friendzoned", they didn't actually care about their friend. If you actually valued your friendship with someone, you would accept that they don't feel the same way as you.

Honestly I think Bumblestripe should’ve ended up with the Rosepetal, as she seemed the most interested and getting Dovewing to like Bumblestripe. This might be because she has very strong feelings for him, and she wants him to be happy, even if it’s with another she cat.(something Bumblestripe could learn himself) I also feel like Cherryfall kinda just came out of nowhere.

Ravenpaw For life If I remember, there were multiple times in the book where Rosepetal glared at Dovewing after she rejected to do something with Bumblestripe. She seemed very interested in their relationship. Much more so than Cinderheart. And at the time, Cinderheart already had mate in Lionblaze.
AND in bramblestar’s storm, Frankie (Stormcloud) says he wants to stay, and Cherryfall comforts him. Bramblestar thinks there’s something “going on” between the two.

Cinderheart was pressuring Dovewing because she didn't get her chance for a mate with Lionblaze.(at least back then) She literally says, "If there are no obstacles in the way to get to know a cat, you should take the opportunity." (Signifying the 'obstacles' between her and Lionblaze) I don't think Bumblestripe told her to do this. But I do agree with a lot of what you're saying, even if Dovewing isn't my favorite character, I was so mad when everyone was forcing her to like Bumblestripe! Dovewing can make her own choices ! (Even tho her choice is Tigerheart......) I don't think he has a ...."twisted plan" like you keep saying...I think he has a strong crush, just like Graystripe and Silverstream. (His father) Firestar and Spottedleaf, Thrushpelt and Bluestar. He didn't have a sick twisted plan...but he did make some awkward choices and could've definitely been more self aware of Dovewing's feelings. Two or so tries is enough. But when Dovewing started showing interest and they were mates, he thought she loved him, and when she didn't anymore, he got confused, that's why he asked her about kits. He needed to confirm how she felt, he thought he had won her over. I agree, at the beginning he totally couldn't been more self-aware, but Dovewing did start giving him mixed signals. There was peer pressure, wrong timing, awkward unself awareness, and mixed signals, so this wasn't all Bumblestripe's fault, more just wrong timing and Bumblestripe being a bit blunt and Dovewing mixing up signals towards the end, confusing things more.thats my opinion anyway 😁
I completely agree with you, I hate it that everyone blames bumblestripe for dovewing choosing tiger. At no point during the entire arc did she even try to explain to bumblestripe that she didn't like him that way, no she just strung him and tiger heart along because she couldn't just take a dame minute to properly think about her emotions and come to a conclusion that best fit her instead she just ended up hurting everyone around her because she wanted her cake and to eat it to.

Bumblestripe liking Dovewing is pretty much Thrushpelt liking Bluefur. Thrushpelt never verbalized his feelings, but a handful of other warriors could still see he liked her. Unaware Bluefur was with Oakheart, the clan tried to push them together.
1/14/2021: Hi, yes, I compared the two. At the time of this comment VoS was being released, and I had only actually read the fourth apprentice. What I *meant* was that the situation is the same. Thrush and Bumble are nothing alike in terms of how they handled the situation, I get that.
I'm sure this is just going to cause more confusion but, think of it this way, from the perspective of the character (in this case Bluefur or Dovewing) they're put into uncomfortable situations where their clan sees another cat likes them (Thrushpelt or Bumblestripe) and tries to push them together. The way the four cats handle their situations are nothing alike after that.
The main reason I compared the two is because with Leafpool/Crowfeather, Leafpool was encouraged to stop seeing Crowfeather by Cinderpelt. In Graystripe/Silverstream, Graystripe is encouraged to stop seeing Silverstream by Fireheart.
I'm sure all of these relationships go much deeper than what I've seen considering I haven't read any of the super editions involving these cats (excluding Bluestar's and Tiger[heart]star's, but it's been years since I read either) so👍
Moral of the story: Thrushpelt and Bumblestripe are nothing alike as individuals, they were just put into similar situations.
Golden Roses YES This is exactly right. The norm in clans doesn't tend for there to be much competition in the Romantic field so when a cat likes another, they generally try to make that work. Although I think bumblestripe may have pushed a bit farther than thrushpelt did
Golden Roses but ThrushPelt did something better ,he said that he’d love to help raise the kits even if they aren’t his and was very nice to her even if they never would end up together. BumbleStripe pressured DoveWing and when she rejects him he gets angry at her.
There's a huge difference though...
Thrushpelt *genuinely loved* Bluefur, and was okay pretending to be the kits dad to support her. He knew they weren't his, but he was still content to love them all the same.
Bumblestripe is *lust/obsession* concealed under the *name of love.* Despite Dovewing's numerous attempts to turn him down, he kept pursuing her, hoping maybe she'll eventually cave and say yes. There's no way he would've been fine pretending to be the dad of someone else's kits, he was pushing for her to have *his.*
Scott Larson um she was using him as a scratching post all Bumblestripe said to dovewing was to stop snapping at him for no reason!
But Thrushpelt was ok with here having a different mate

@@FabulousFeathertail Dovewing's clanmates kept pressuring her to get with Bumblestripe, so it's understandable she would be snapping at him. And don't forget in the bonus scene of Shattered Sky Bumblestripe was being very cruel and inconsiderate when he suggested having kits with Dovewing just after PURDY DIES. Purdy was a very good friend of Dovewing's and he just says we should have kits to make the clan happy! And even when Dovewing rejected him time and time again, he still kept going after her.

this is why Dovewing is my favorite of the three.
she gets constantly pushed aside (in my opinion) she was abused in ThunderClan, not just by Bumblestripe, but by her other clanmates as well. She never found peace until she moved to ShadowClan with Tigerheart(star). My heart broke for her and I'm happy to see that someone else is acknowledging that Bumblestripe is not the hero of the story.

How ironic is it that one of the Erin's stated that "Bumblestripe love Dovewing for Dovewing, and Tigerheart just sees her as a possession" but then again, this isn't the first time one of the Erin's has said something controversial and contradictory towards the books or the other Erin's ideas
not even gonna lie if you read OoTS and DIDNT end up thinking "wow TigerHeart is a creepy freak and his love for dovewing does not feel genuine at all" I honestly dont know what to tell you lol. Like he spends the entire arc legitimately stalking her and ignoring her boundaries
I've grown to hate the Erins tbh. Most of them have very conservative views such as a man who harasses you and tries to MAKE you love them is a good man.
When I was in college, I had a friend who was pretty nice. We were talking one day and he asked me if I was dating anyone. I said no and awkwardly explained I wanted to focus on my classes. He smiled and told me I could do both. I wasn’t going to be anything but his friend, and I was pretty annoyed he’d said that. I hate it when people pressure you to go out with them. For me, it makes their friendship status and potential attractiveness go right to zero. Then things got freaky and awkward. He started following me because I had a lot of frequent hangouts and once waited outside of the building where one of my other friends worked. I’d told my mom by that point what was happening and she explained so her co workers would know. My friend’s boss went out and told him to go away or she’d call campus security, and he did. I felt like it was all my fault. Everything was fine and no one got hurt but the damage was still done. I didn’t talk to him again after that, but sometimes I’d see him just because we went to the same college. But it was horrible. I couldn’t go to any of my favorite places on campus anymore because he’d always find me. I was really scared and paranoid for a while. It was horrible. One day I saw him in the cafeteria. We met eyes for a second and I gave him a really angry look. I left, and he didn’t follow me. The jerk dragged my friend into what he was doing. Nothing makes someone unappealing like behaving the way he did. I don’t know why people try it. I guess it’s a product of societal norms or some proto-human courting ritual, but whatever it is, it needs to stop. Whether it’s a male or female doing it. Sometimes I still get nervous whenever I have to be on campus and I avoid the spots I liked to be, and I really shouldn’t have had to. I don’t tell people they need to step off. I had to learn to do it the hard way.

He didn't have a twisted plan...there was peer pressure(Cinderheart, Rosepetal, and Blossonfall), mixed signals(from Dovewing), a bit of bluntness from Bumblestripe, and wrong timing. But yes, at the beginning Bumblestripe did not take into account Dovewing wasn't interested, but when Dovewing became his mate and started to love him, then unlove him, (unlove 😂👌) he got confused and it's reasonable to ask your mate/spouse about kids/kits.

I don't really agree with any of this. Here are my reasons:
1. What if there was a small leak? There doesn't always have to be a big leak that affects lots of cats.
2. What if he just wanted to get to know Whitewing better, since he has a crush on Dovewing why not make friends with her mom as well?
3. Cinderheart recently discovered that Lionblaze is in the prophecy, and believes she can't have him. She doesn't want Dovewing to make the same mistake with someone who obviously loves her.
4. Blossomfall is being clingy. She doesn't want Bumblestripe, her only littermate (who isn't confined in the medicine den) to partner with someone else, especially since they're really close. She feels like he's choosing Dovewing over her when really he's just deciding to train with a different cat ONCE. Bumblestripe is choosing to train with Dovewing because he has a chance to build a bigger relationship with Dovewing.
5. Rosepetal feels bad for Bumblestripe. She knows he likes Dovewing and doesn't want him to get his feelings hurt, especially when he's been crushing on her for so long.
6. HE IS NOT BEING INSENSITIVE. He knows that, as he said, life is short. I believe that, even though this is an unsatisfactory time to confess, Bumblestripe is not doing anything wrong.
All this video is: assuming the worst of Bumblestripe's actions. Sure, he may have done some of the things in the video, but that is unlikely. He is an innocent cat who just had a crush on Dovewing.

These characters are meant to represent humans. Just like humans these characters aren't just black or white(lol BumbleStripe is) they have conflicting emotions and aren't just pure evil or the greatest cat ever. They make the wrong decisions sometimes and their opinions can be questioned. I feel like this concept applies greatly to BumbleStripe, especially in the way people see him in the Fandom. For me he's somewhere in the middle, and I think more people should consider this.

Now, having been in the position where I didn't return someone's feelngs, I feel so bad for her! Especially in all the moments where someone pressured her to spend time with him.

What is happening here is actually super creepily similar to something that is happening to a friend of mine and my sisters. This guy was literally like, watching her during lunch, and keeps announcing love for her, and trying to pressure her. But fortunately, its not working on her, and the rest of the school does kind of have a problem with him too, so no one else is pressuring her.
Bumblestripe is a complete "Nice Guy" and Dovewing really needed to tell every cat he manipulated into pressuring her that, yes, she was aware of his feelings but she didn't feel the same way. By not being (at least partially) open with her clan mates, he was able to control the narrative, to isolate her, and to wear her down, until desperation (among other things) forced her to break from everyone she grew up with and loved. But, of course, this is warrior cats and no one tells anyone anything. Tell people, kids.
TBH, he probably won't become another Ashfur, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he's become another bitter Crowfeather.
I kinda like the idea that in forgotten warrior and last hope Dovewing convinced herself that that she loved Bumblestripe because she couldn't have Tigerheart

I thought Bumblestripe was doing better in the 5th book of Vision of Shadows when he was genuine happy to see Dovewing and not try to be mates with her again. He even genuinely meant the greeting. I thought he was getting better. I like Bumblestripe, he’s nice but he just let his heart take over instead of his head.

at this point I think it's more of a Obsession than a "crush"
Watching some old videos of yours and - I just wanna say, it's NOT selfish to not be able to be "just friends" with someone you love. It's okay to step away from that situation and not attempt or accept a friendship and to cut them out of your lives so as not to feel hurt by them, just like it's not selfish for someone not to reciprocate your love. The two relationship dynamics both have their pros and cons but they're absolutely not the same, and some people just can't be friends with people they love or used to love. And that's fine too.

I completely disagree with (most) of your points... What you say about Bumblestripe manipulating circumstances and borderline harassing Dovewing has virtually no solid basis.
Harassment is defined as ‘aggressive pressure or intimidation’, and bumblestripe does not even approach this standard. He simply wants to spend time with the she-cat of his dreams. Frankly, I cannot see how you are making this out to be such a horrific crime, calling it “disgusting” and “harassment”.
I believe that Tigerheart is worse. He gains Dovewing’s affection by manipulating and endorsing her confusion about clan boundaries after the journey. Tigerheart is a warrior, while Dovepaw(wing) is barely an apprentice. This manipulation of a naive apprentice (in my opinion) almost approaches the level of the Thistleclaw/Spottedpaw situation. That is to say,
Tigerheart endorses Dovepaw’s attachment to the cats she journeyed with, and uses this to get her to meet him in secret. Though Tigerheart had less evil intentions, the situation is hauntingly similar.
Anywho, sorry for the novel. I will conclude to say I believe you are heavily exaggerating the negative qualities of Bumblestripe, as in reality, he has not done anything truly wrong.

But Bumblestripe is also a warrior going after an apprentice which... is still creepy to me. I honestly I think towards the end he just got a little too obsessive over Dovewing.

It’s not Bumblestripe’s fault, he couldn’t have possibly known she was betraying her clan to see someone, and no one else had ever seemed to take interest in her inside the clan, she didn’t like anyone else from what he thought. And Dovewing leading him on didn’t help as she didn’t say she wasn’t interested just couldn’t think about it. If you ask me, Dovewing was way worse but not as bad as Tigerheart.

She wasn't saying anything, When Bumblestripe and her were mates, she could have said something but instead, she was ecourging him thinking that she loved him.

She did not lead him on. She made it VERY clear at first that she was not interested. When things fell apart with Tigerheart and she started to fall victim to her clanmate's pear pressure, that's when she got with Bumblestripe to try and make it work. When she felt she couldn't get herself to love him back, she broke it off with him and made it clear she had no interest n getting back together with him but was ok with being his friend. She even tells him outright on several occasions that she only wants to be his friend. So no. At no point did she lead him on.

I feel sad for Dovewing because more than 3 people in her clan pressured her into a relationship she didnt want
(avos/tigerheart's shadow spoilers at the very end) The kit talk during Purdy's vigil was like, the nail in the coffin for me on Bumblestripe tbh. I'm willing to believe that the Erins (aka the publishers) just think a clingy puppydog boyfriend character was innocent/relatable/cute, and that they didn't intend to make Bumble so pushy. I'm also willing to believe that the clan felt sorry for Bumble, as he didn't have Blossomfall or really Briarlight anymore, and the only cat he WANTED to hang out with was Dovewing - who also never seemed to be hanging around anyone else (remember: the stuff she did with lion and jay was usually in secret, and meeting Tigerheart DEFINITELY was) - so they felt like they were pushing two lonely souls together. I always read it as just misguided well-meaning friends and family.
But, using Purdy's vigil was literally disgusting?? Like, that's just creepy levels of being blinded by love.
I also don't blame Dovewing for being confused after all the Dark Forest stuff was revealed; things were rocky. How did she know if they were ever going to forgive the Dark Forest cats? Would Tigerheart even be able to stay in the Clans? Could she be a rogue with him? And on TOP of that, she was dealing with basically losing 99% of her senses all at once. And everyone around her was always touting Bumblestripe, and being hostile towards the dark forest cats at that point. She couldn't see Tigerheart. She couldn't tell how he was feeling. She couldn't talk things out with him, really. The clans were rebuilding - she was devastated. Open to manipulation. She just wanted friend to lean on - Lionblaze had Cinderheart, Jayfeather had medicine cat duties, and Ivypool was hostile about Dovewing's choices and pretty much every thought her sister had. Even her father and mother had their own problems going on. Bumblestripe was the only cat paying attention to her and being kind to her in a time when she needed it more than ever - everyone else was just ignoring her or being nasty to her for not wanting to immediately have 100 bumblestripe clones. I never saw her as treating him as a mate, ever. Just looking for affection from the only friend she had left in her entire clan.
We also see friends (yes, even toms and she-cats!) being close all the time. Mousefur and Longtail, and Mousefur and Purdy are good examples of this. Briarlight and Jayfeather. But they weren't _mates_. No one is out there saying Mousefur was leading Purdy on, or any other combination of she cats who acted pretty much the same towards their tom friends.
i don't understand the dovewing hate. i lovewing dovewing. but i also didn't outright dislike bumblestripe until purdy's vigil then i just wanted to yeet him out of existence. Still, with Dovewing out of Thunderclan now, I think Bumblestripe has the opportunity to become a better character. Some people LIKE being doted on 100% all the time by their partners, and since like 99% of Thunderclan has no personality right now I can totally see the Erins writing one of the she-cats to be all moony over him too and making it a mutually doting - not creepy harassment - type relationship.
This begs the question: Why can’t the Erin’s just make another Thrushpelt?

When Dovewing and Tigerheart started meeting each other, it was, honestly, the first time I was ever invested in any cross clan relationship. I dislike all the others, but this one is just so good, so healthy and the first time the writers attempted to flesh out a relationship like this. I did feel sorry for Bumblestripe though. But Dovewing owes him nothing. But she could have tried harder not to lead him on.

If you want grooming Feathertail was far, far older than poor Crowfeather when they were a thing, and how old was Silverstream actually? Not only that but he befriended her when she was lonely and vulnerable, there’s so many red flags. Predators often befriend their victims, relate to them, share secrets to earn trust. He’s a predator, it wasn’t intentional writing I don’t think but that how it came across. I don’t care how big Greystripe and Silverstream’s age gap was, they both were adults unlike Dovewing.

After the spoiler, I say that I respect Bumblestripe as a character because he represents the struggle of wanting something that remains forever out of reach and coming to terms with the fact that he will never have it. He made many mistakes, but he has the chance to eventually redeem himself.

Tbh,I never really understood why Dovewing went with Tigerstar,but now since I watched this,it gave me a new perspective.Bumblestripe might have loved Dovewing,but his situation is pretty much like Ashfurs.Trying to get opportunities with the cats they love,and in the process,slowly destroying the relationship with the eh cats they loved

Ashfur tried to make Brambleclaw seem like a really bad cat so squirrelflight would pick him, and then threatened, and attempted, to murder 'her' kits sometime after she had them. Ashfur was hopelessly in love, and would not give up until he hurt the cat who rejected him. he and bumble are not alike. bumble liked a cat and got too close too quickly and did some questionable things, but he is not like Ashfur. he wanted a loving relationship but did it in the wrong way. Ashfur on the other hand tried to remove Squirrelflight's only other option by making him seem evil.

So many people use Thrushpelt and Bluestar as a point when trying to convince others that Bumblestripe isn't bad, but they're wrong. If I recall correctly, it was only Bluestar's Clanmates pressuring and guilt-tripping her, not Thrushpelt, however, with Dovewing and Bumblestripe, Bumblestripe himself is pressuring and guilt-tripping Dovewing as well. Him and Ashfur really need to take a class from Thrushpelt.

It’s been years since I had read that series so before having these reminders of their interactions, I thought it was just a silly crush. But I didn’t realize he was like that, touchy, clingy, etc.
I do sympathize with him a bit considering the whole siblings situation where he was left alone and his only friend left was dovewing. But he took it too far for sure, he should’ve just cooled down a bit and accept whatever dovewings feelings are.
I just feel really bad for him he deserves to be loved hes kind, honest and supporting tbh I personally think he is a very good character. But I except your opinion

Not saying that I'm a Bumblestripe fan (I honestly dislike both Bumblestripe and Dovewing), but if they could have just sat down and had a serious conversation about their feelings, complete with apologies, whether it ended in a relationship, friendzone, or Bumblestripe pulling a Thrushpelt and being a supportive ex, that would have made me a lot more satisfied. I mean, think about it. Bumblestripe has no idea that Dovewing was meeting with Tigerheart, so he thought she liked him back.
He lost his sisters because I want to spend as much time with him and he didn’t trust him as much so he converted to the one he loved

As for the others, Whitewing likely just noticed it and mentioned it because that's usually how things go regarding relationships in thunderclan. There's never that much complication. I don't think he ever really harassed her, but I do think that he did make some hasty or generally bad decisions regarding dovewing.
Dovewing brought this to herself. She didn't tell Bumblestripe sge wasn't intrested, she kept making him think, it was ok for him to think she had feelings for him. The reason i hate Tigerheartband Dovewing, was their forbidden romance. It's just so over used.
