- Cleaning and polishing a cymbal in a tradition finish. NO LOGOS will be removed!
Come along with me as I take you through an action-packed, four-step process, in real time to achieve clean cymbal Zen. Each step will produce a progressively cleaner finish. Step 1-dish soap and water. Step 2-lemon juice. Step 3-Liquid bar keepers friend. Step 4-Mothers aluminum polish. (Don't forget to rinse off the residue) You may stop at any level you see fit but to achieve true clean cymbal Zen, finish all four steps.PART 2 link:

a man that takes care of his WUHANS!
not only are those some of the most underrated cymbals and the best value in drumming- but it's great to see you caring for them, rather than the majority of players who mistreat them because they are cheap- great results!!!
I'm sorry for taking so long to reply. I've been ill and on the mend. Yes, all cymbals are great, especially those that are hand hammered. Wuhans are so good and how anyone can disrespect one is like not liking pizza.......
Barkeepers Friend looks like the way to go, good stuff
It really is, Preston! As long as that cymbal stays wet and you use the liquid, you're good to go!
I honestly really enjoyed this style of video. The humor is also appreciated. Subbed.
You want a job? LOL! Thanks, you're ahead of my wife and child....
Thank you so much!
You're very welcome. I hope it helped you out!
Guess I didn't realize I was watching a comedy show.
And you loved it.
This might be a stupid question but what can I use to clean both a traditional finish cymbal and brilliant finish cymbal
Hi! There are no stupid questions: only stupid UA-cam videos…,😅
Since you want to preserve your brilliant finish, make sure to never use anything with an abrasive- just use a clean soft cloth with lemon juice. If that’s not clean enough, use the mothers aluminum polish as it will take off most fingerprints and stains.
I hope this helps!!
What is the camera and head mount you're using?
Hey Joey! It’s just a GoPro hero 4 with their head mounting strap - it’s from 2015 or 2016 I think.
Will this method work for Paistes as well? Since they have the protective coating, do we think it would get damaged with this method?
Hello Miles! That's something that I was wondering myself as I've no Pastie cymbals currently. However, I'd personally try some pledge only inside the bell and or around it underneath to test and would not use any abrasives or metal polishes. I used to own them (signature and 2002 -3000 ) and I think I'd be ok with using it on my own. Good luck!!
@@jeffspitza Thank you for the insight, Jeff! I have a 2002 22" power ride that sounds incredible, but she looks a little old. Let's hope some pledge will do the trick!
I accidentally used Zildjian Brilliant Cymbal Polish on my traditional-finish (so not brilliant) Zildjian A's. I can't tell if I have permanently ruined my (to me) pricey cymbals, I applied the paste for a minute, then tried buffing with a clean cloth for over an hour, and rinsed them in the sink afterwards. They are still so unevenly splotchy and look worse than when they were just dirty! Is there any rescuing them?
Hi Julee: I'm sorry to have taken so long to get back to you as I don't keep up with this channel as much as I should! That's a bummer! It sounds like the paste oxidized in very specific areas and that cut through the lacquer coating that most cymbals have. If I were me, I'd just go right to the Bar keepers friend (liquid) , wet the cymbal just as I did in the video and hopefully remove those trouble spots. If that doesn't work, try the Mothers metal/aluminum polish and all of that "gunk" should wash out. No one should have to have a crappy looking cymbal. Let me know if this helps!

The mothers really doesn't amazing job on cymbals. You really should wear gloves when you use that stuff.
I meant to say it really does an amazing job on cymbals
Thanks for the concern, Walter. I’ve started to use the black nitrile gloves
ever since I got Lyme disease a few years ago. If you’ve got the chance, that mother’s polish is killer!
I didn't know Bar Keeper's Friend came in liquid form too. Nice video!
Thank you, Mr. Jazz! If you're in the U.S. head on over to Menards, Walmart, Home Depot and possibly Target. They all should have this. Thanks for watching.
