I love how nothing was torqued. It was "just as tight as you can get it!" Well, now that was amazing! Not that they rebuilt it, but that they did it there in the dirt and it runs!! Well done sirs!
They actually did torque it, just not by a torque wrench. They have done this build so many times that they know how much torque each bolt needs at a certain part. First I thought the same thing, why aren't they torquing the bolts, then mid way I realized they are using less force at places where it isn't needed. I guess they torquing based on the feeling of hand.... But I do see them torquing some bolts less than the others. Bravo to them!!! That's some skill right there!!!
17:20 dude actually uses a torque wrench. You can hear it clicking. These guys seriously know what they're doing and are probably good mechanics, shame they have to do everything squatted, in the dirt. Give these guys a descent shop with basic (air) tools and some hoisting provisions, an engine stand, some worktables with chairs and watch their production ramping up!! No more cleaning every single part 10 times because of the sand and grime...

The times when you could refresh a engine like this... For sure their know what they do, if they just had a torque wrench or two, the engine would last even longer. Over all a pretty good job with rudimental tools.
@@joxview1522 when I was young I thought the same. But I had the chance to learn and test the difference and impact of torque to bolt and nuts. And I can really say in some specific cases you can not reuse the same bolt to reach the desired torque. Also it ist strongly dependent where you stand and in which angle you hold the wrench. I am an experienced technician and machinist that trusts his well kept tools more than his arms. And if you ever overtorqued a camshaft and wondering later that the starter went up in smoke, like me as young stud, you know what I'm talking about.

I was impressed with the prodigious application of gasket mastic, hope the oil and water pump enjoys digesting the squeeze out as it cycles the fluids. With flashes of cooking show flair the master builder hand drizzles oil into the pistons/rings to then scoop more oil from a dirt ridden bowl for the next piston. I especially liked the post short block assembly, "roll it in the dirt" procedure. I guess that's to dry-coat the oozed gasket goop and splashed oil, oh and the tops of the pistons for smokeless first start. Then there was a true engineering flash of brilliance, oil the head gasket liberally so tighten the head bolts out of sequence allows the head to squirm on the oil film in an attempt to equalise initial clamping load and ultimately, as the oil leaks down, under clamp the block/head interface. I have to give special mention to the torque settings, they seem to work on the FFP scale being the Fella Full Pull. Head bolts = 1young FFP which is the same as the rocker tappet pillars being 1 young FFP. The conrods and much of the bottom end get a higher setting of 1oldFFP. Ultimately the bulging top radiator hose bursting imminently will save the engine building business from any warranty promise.
@@plz_dont_resign8387 Right, because you ABSOLUTELY NEVER EVER DO THAT. I laughed my ass off when I saw that cracked flywheel and flex plate that they reinstalled. I fell out of my chair when they slathered the head gasket in oil. The 6 stooges. All the bolts are torqued into plastic deformation, and everything is tightened down out of pattern so everything is warped and unevenly stressed. That, and the rolling in dirt, is why all the goopy anaerobic sealant is smeared all over the thing. The gasket alone won't seal when it's being assembled asymmetrically clamped and warped. 🤣 This engine was tortured and the customer got scammed. Won't last long AT ALL. Jesus Christ...
I'm happy to see this reconditioning of a Bedford TK Engine - love the precision engineering standards they now use in these advanced economies - we really need to watch carefully and learn since we are heading for this soon in the UK. I was really impressed with the T shirt used to wipe the crankcase. I was very impressed with the audience participation - no mask wearing here.
It’s amazing that the vehicle must be over 60 to 70 years old, lord knows how many times the engine has been rebuilt, who knows there could be anger 60 to even further into the future. Well done guys…
Все аккуратно на земле, но на газетке! Немного песочка - это для лучшей притирки деталей. Шейки коленвала можно об железку херачить, но они же каленые! Моменты - это для заумных. Мотор завелся и почти не вибрирует.
Kind of amazing given that they not only didn't use a mic, telescoping gage or even bothered to use plasigage to make sure oil clearance is right. It started right up but how long will it live? Maybe forever....maybe a week?
@@ct1762 Come to think of it, did you see what caused the seize? At this point I don't know if we weren't shown the cause or if I just forgot what it was. AND, not to bash these guys too much, for a steet motor if my torque wrench broke I know for a fact I could come within 5 pounds of a hundred and within 3 or 3 of 45. In fact, I'll bet five bucks I could nail 45 pounds. Not because I'm all that good as much as most street motor connecting rods have a 45 pound feet of torque specifications and I've done a lot of them. And that would be in much the same way as being able to tell when your plugs are gapped at .035". After doing it a while you just know. Maybe these guys "just know". Maybe I'm being excessively generous too!
Lol. I love how they rolled that newly rebuilt motor around in the dirt when they were putting it on the dolly. The main dude working on the engine keeps his hair looking good. But his grill is damn sure messed up. I guess they don’t have dentist. I’ll give them props. At least they used a feeler gauge when doing the valves. The engine should run a good long time.

Amazing!!!The old school of recycling and repair.Respect!!!Rebuilding engine is allways a pleasure to watch.Thaks!!!
I love how nothing was torqued. It was "just as tight as you can get it!"
Well, now that was amazing!

14yrs - 30 ft lbs
16yrs - 40 ft lbs
18yrs - 50 ft lbs
Yeah, that's correct. It's actually cheaper to buy a handful of young boys than a torque wrench.
How much torque this component needs? "Yes!"
It appears to work just fine!👍🏻😁

The times when you could refresh a engine like this... For sure their know what they do, if they just had a torque wrench or two, the engine would last even longer. Over all a pretty good job with rudimental tools.
Settings built into their arms sir😂

Just another arrogant Western hemisphere asshole
@@TheRoadhammer379 Meh
Yea I’ve never seen anyone oil a head gasket before, interesting
Very Very good Job congratulations!! It Will work Very wel. Brasil
