I love that he isn’t trying to beat his ideas into us. He acknowledges how little is actually known as opposed to what scholars claim we know. There are so many questions unanswered and so many people that want to get paid for having the answers they race to put out a theory and claim it as fact.
It's interesting how you have separated this scholar from the group you're calling scholars to support your internal narrative. People are horrifyingly fun 🙃
Cool story. Just pointing out that in this clip he is objective and humble. Found it refreshing. I see you’re an unhappy person without anything better to do. 👍 good for you for typing your opinion.
" I think religion in South America began in the Amazon" is actually what the man said. That is a much different thing than religion as a whole originating in the Amazon.
I am Brazilian, and when I served the army I spent one year in the Amazon rainforest near Colombia and Venezuela. Lots of places with interesting stories about ancient peoples, lots of stones carved in the middle of nowhere… Not once I heard about academics of archeologists going there… My post was near a comunity that had contact with the west only for 80 years… It had an incredible aurea of magic
For sure it did, coco leaf found in Perú and Chile Tobacco in North America Hindu Kush found in Hindu Mountains, anything mild altering substance must've been added to religion or at least the ideas that came out of usage
Interesting that some of the Hindu gods have snakes about the head. Maybe the Meso American god's snakes APPEAR to come OUT OF his head because it's represented as only 2 dimensional. The Hindus were into 3 dimensional statues later on and the snakes (Naga ?) seem to extend from the back of the diety... Snakes...i recall one story the Native Americans have regarding snake beings interacting with the humans...
Mysterious cities of Gold. Please search and watch this 80's cartoon series. It's got 2 season, 45 or so episodes. Everything in this interview is it this series. I would love to know if Ed Barnhart has seen it, and his opinion. Obviously it's a cartoon, but super well researched for the time. It's 40 years old👍👌🇦🇺

This is one of my favorite guests!
It's really enjoyable learning from a teacher who is passionate

That is a much different thing than religion as a whole originating in the Amazon.

I wonder if the ingestion of psychedelic plants in the amazon was in some way responsible for these religions forming. Ayuhuasca for example
Of course it did…
For sure it did, coco leaf found in Perú and Chile
Tobacco in North America
Hindu Kush found in Hindu Mountains, anything mild altering substance must've been added to religion or at least the ideas that came out of usage
The topic its interesting... I gonna left it for tomorrow. Any way thx for top notch interwiev... Lex!!!

Anyone check if Diddy has that snake haired idol in his place?
Kenny Powers has entered the podcast
Imo religion is necessary for a developing civilization
It definitely helps

Ok we need the host to take b12. More emotion more mannerisms 😅😂😆 Otherwise, I'm enjoying the interview 👍
The fang deity is a jaguar. The fangs. Msn eater.
Evidence of religion, via ritual burials, is something like 100.000 years old. Not sure what this guy is talking about 1800 bc for.
Ritual doesn’t always equate to religion
If someone you car about dies, you not going to watch them decay, you would bury them.

Another opinion!
He talks about gods who are both wonderful and terrible at 12:00. Sounds a lot like the Old Testament god.

one ships broke off carried some to hide in panama tomb of lehi herbrew it means jaw bone
Maybe somebody's religion came from the Amazon.
I understand why people in antiquity were religious…. I have absolutely no idea why modern people in the information age still pretend to be

They had prophets. Your soul is smarter than your ego, when one speaks from god, your souls hears it. When you want it.
