  • Hello, I'm Cody Montarbo the founder of Montarbo Skincare and The Montarbo Method. As San Diego's leading provider for acne, pigmentation, and chemical peels and with over 20 years of experience, I can help you achieve flawless skin regardless of your age, skin type, or budget! I got you!
It's become very common to think that you might have a broken skin barrier, but do you know what actually causes it? It's important to be mindful of your routine and where you get your information from to ensure that you don't compromise your skin barrier through randomly recommended regimens and products. While some believe that it is ideal, over-moisturizing your skin can cause more harm than good when it comes to dealing with compromised skin.

This is borderline scandalous. And I’m here for it. How do we stimulate our skin without breaking the barrier even more?

Just love your comment! Best way to stimulate new skin is always with vitamin A, C and AHA Acids. Anything that stimulates collagen is good for barrier. Hope this helps?

Please help!!! I have black skin and years ago started using 30% glycolic acid and now my cheeks are brighter than the rest of my face and my under eyes look dark giving the appearance of dark circles. What product should I use or what advise can you give me. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my skin before. I’m miserable that nothing I do works. Thanks in advance.

It helps to use a chemical exfoliant to help even tone as well as brighteners. Sunscreen will be a huge factor to protecting the color and maintaining melanin. Depending on the condition some cases may need a professionals help with a light peel or so. Retinol will also help with cell damage and repairing. Feel free to message us and include photos info@montarboskincare.com if you need help and suggestions from our line to try.

Stimulating by using actives like chemical exfoliants, vitamin c, and retinol. But it’s best to start slow with an exfoliant and adjust as time goes on and skin builds tolerance. You can add more later as a way to condition and continue stimulating. Over stripping can happen by being too aggressive, using too much actives at once or too frequently, or over cleansing. If the skin is compromised and sensitive, basic and less is best.
