Another great video. The second time UA-cam advertisement interrupted Mapy. Starting to think UA-cam doesn't respect him. Anyways let's hear more about my State of Michigan. Seems always gets missed in alot of categories. Thanks!
Intelligence is subjective. Some people know how to handle standardized testing better than others and of course someone who is a fluent English speaker would do better on an English test or on a test written in English that someone whose native language is not. Also, you have to be able to PAY for college to get a degree.
Every state would face the same drawbacks though. While it's not easy to measure intelligence, the metrics used in the video are at least broadly available and attempt to measure a person's ability to learn.
True, but if you are freakishly qualified and have limited means, you can get financial aid. Although practically everything is pay-to-play in America except for public libraries, PBS, and our free highways, one cannot simply buy a college degree unless from an institution such as Patriot University (a diploma mill that looks more like a decrepit motel than a school of any kind) as did "Doctor" (and now jailbird for tax fraud) Kent Hovind).
The tests are subjective, not intelligence. Intelligence is by definition objective, and the tests are an attempt to measure that. Ideally, iq tests would be independent of the language you know.
Yay I was born in Virginia and I was raised in both new Hampshire and Massachusetts lol and I am the smartest in my classes lol i wonder why (I also study a lot and work hard)

You are right about putting Colorado in the list. They really are smart! But! Colorado should really be ranked #1! Reason why is because they really know what they mean, they know better what they’re talking about than the State I live in, & they almost always know the good over the bad . Overall! Colorado is the real #1! I’m glad you didn’t put the State I live in on that list! But again! Colorado is indeed the right call at least!
Intelligent cannot be measure by standardized test its a skill and when you get the concept you can be a good test taker but really dumb in real life. Another things is going to college doesn't make you smarter. So just because this state or that state have more or less college graduate doesn't make them less or more.
The metrics used in the video are a good way to measure someone's ability to learn, which I would call at least some indication of intelligence. These stats are also standardized and widely available. I'm not sure what else he could have used.
Before I finish the video, I’ll bet my life savings Massachusetts is #1 Edit: I called it, I better receive 20k ... Mi ejoocashon dosent no mi life sayveens

Personally speaking, there are a lot of unintelligent people who have college degrees. A college degree doesn't really mean that much except you have more debt than someone who went to trade school instead.
@@NA-ck6cz but that "specialized field" isn't always something as vital as plumbing or electrical engineering or something that can net you a living wage when you factor in the crippling debt you took on to get it.
@@NA-ck6cz I don't think it's very intelligent to intentionally get into debut to get a degree for a job that can't pay off the debt, but I was pointing out both that graduating from college doesn't mean you're smart as well as pointing out that a college isn't really worth much these days.

California, um, uh, er, well it's like this. They have nearly the worst K to 12 public schools in the nation based on test scores, graduation rates, success after highschool etc. BUT, they also have the best collection of public Universities in the nation based on graduation rates and success after graduation. So it's somewhere in between.

Or -- be the child of a Tiger Mom, which might be good preparation for being a computer nerd, but it isn't fun. Parts of California, notably the Central Valley (one might as well be in the Deep South), the Inland Empire (never recovered from the Crash of '08), and the desert areas are awful. There you have the agricultural areas and Oil Patch. Despite the perception of many non-Californians, the biggest industry in California is still agriculture, and the biggest corporation in California is Chevron. The farming is by giant corporate farms that treat their workers like peons... and those giant corporate farms don't need any middle class. But California is a horrible place in which to raise a child even in the coastal areas. One can't afford to raise kids in coastal California unless the kids have sharp teeth and claws (cats and dogs, that is).

@@brewmule6799 You have to remember that the scholarship don't always come from the University. Sometimes they come from other organizations. From example, my brother received a partial scholarship to Harvard and other organization gave him the other half. So he ended up with a full scholarship. He graduated Harvard University in 2014. He's now on a full scholarship from that organization for Medical School at University of California in San Francisco (UCSF).
I think the point is that a college degree isn't a substantial factor for intelligence. There are many factors included to gaining a college degree, not to exclude intelligence. Debt also doesn't exclude intelligence. You can be $100,000 in debt and still be a very intelligent person. You can also be a very dumb individual and get a full scholarship. Most people incorrectly correlate intelligence to inherent optimistic acknowledgements of productive achievements; because you achieved a feat, someone now(by their own accord) deems you intelligent, but that's an unaccredited method of using the word's utility. As of yet, there has only been 1 universal established way of determining intelligence, and that is from the Mensa tests(which is technically 2 ways, considering there are 2 tests available). In order to establish intelligence you would have to set a standard across the board, you would have to present the most intelligent solution of that standard 100% of the time and you could only allow the testing subject to take the test a specific number of times that would intentionally prevent them from adapting to the test(which presumably would be 1 time). The Mensa tests do this correctly, you can only take both tests once. The point is that practice(human will) outperforms cognitive ability at some point. You can do something enough times to become too efficient at it to observe unbiased results. "practice makes perfect", which is why a college degree wouldn't exclusively indicate intelligence. Also, considering that there are nearly an infinite amount of options available to us at any given point in our lives, there is no credible way to establish any of those options as being the most intelligent option available, and all of those options aren't available 100% of the time; so there is no reliable way to establish intelligence based off a societal choice that was made in a lifetime, including receiving a scholarship or aggregating debt. This is all simply because had you made a choice in life, that was assumed to be intelligent, you could have also disregarded a choice that wasn't apparent to the observation of being a more intelligent choice. How many choices in a life were made, not knowing that there was another intelligent choice available, a more intelligent choice. And because we don't actually know what the most intelligent choice is, we can't possibly gauge intelligence, as there is no limit to observe a comparable. And all of this also excludes intention, which could very well not be to choose the most intelligent choice, even if it was available.
I'm born and raised in NJ. I believe it. It's not cheap, but if you have a career, it's good living! Then you get beaches and fishing. I have a degree in engineering, and I make six figures.
To be fair, you have to have a wicked high IQ to understand Massachusetts. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Massachusetts physics will go over a typical person's head. There's also Dunkin Donuts and the Patriots, which is deeply woven into our characterization- our personal philosophy draws heavily from New Englander literature. Us Massholes have the intellectual capacity to truly understand these jokes, to realize they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Massachusetts truly ARE idiots, of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humor in our existential catchphrase "Wicked Smaaht", which itself is a cryptic reference to the Massachusetts epic Baker and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Massachusetts's genius wit unfolds itself in front of their eyes. What fools... how I pity them. XD And yes, by the way, I do have a Massachusetts tattoo, and no you cannot see it, it's for the Masshole's eyes only- and even they have to demonstrate that they are withn 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. I'm sure Utah was not in this category. Even before the video starts. Based on the fact that the major university here is in the 50% tile according to US News & World Report and the other two major universities here accept you if you're breathing, they accept 97% and 100% of applicants. Lol, the truth offends you
Intelligence is subjective.
Boo hoo. i can't compete so change the rules.
Wisconsin guy here. WTF Minnesota? You only have two cities in the entire state!

Really enjoy your videos. Do you have any new ones!!!???
Minnesota doesn’t surprise me 😤
I like mapping he's awesome maybe you can have him UA-cam page
Proud Colorado Native right here!
Those grapes must be sour anyways.

Top 10 best states.
Then a top 10 best mountain states or the top 10 best mountain drives in each of those states or the best spots to hike .
Top 10 best us interstate highways to road trip. Top 10 worst Interstates. Man these are fun to come up with

How in god's name is Minnesota number two. Half the kids in my school cant even use proper English when it's their first language
Personally speaking, there are a lot of unintelligent people who have college degrees. A college degree doesn't really mean that much except you have more debt than someone who went to trade school instead.
It's not about intelligence, it's about gaining knowledge on a specific field you wish to specialize in, exactly like a trade school.
@@NA-ck6cz but that "specialized field" isn't always something as vital as plumbing or electrical engineering or something that can net you a living wage when you factor in the crippling debt you took on to get it.
@@julius-stark Your original comment was about intelligence, not job demand or debt.
@@NA-ck6cz I don't think it's very intelligent to intentionally get into debut to get a degree for a job that can't pay off the debt, but I was pointing out both that graduating from college doesn't mean you're smart as well as pointing out that a college isn't really worth much these days.
@@julius-stark Once again, we're not talking about debt. Stop changing the subject.

Thanks for another great video I wonder how California ranks
California, um, uh, er, well it's like this. They have nearly the worst K to 12 public schools in the nation based on test scores, graduation rates, success after highschool etc. BUT, they also have the best collection of public Universities in the nation based on graduation rates and success after graduation. So it's somewhere in between.
Thanks for giving an objective view
@@jlrva3864 -- Here's the trick: do the first ten of your K-12 years in some other state, and then move to California.
Oh, you were thinking of the high-profile electronics (Silicon Valley), biotech (San Diego), and entertainment (Los Angeles) industries?
Cal, Stanford, UCLA, San Francisco State, UC San Diego, Cal Polytech, San Jose State, and USC can attract really-good professors due to the paradise climate and great variety of things to do. But California is a horrible place in which to raise a child even in the coastal areas. One can't afford to raise kids in coastal California unless the kids have sharp teeth and claws (cats and dogs, that is).
You didn’t mention that Virginia has the strictest speeding laws out of all states though so that data would be skewed
Excessive speed is not a smart practice, to put it tamely. Rigid enforcement of traffic laws reduces collisions and insurance rates.
I have to disagree on the weed part with Colorado. Not sure what studies your looking at to say its making them dumb
Everyone hated Brainy Smurf? Hahaha I don't think so ...
I was disapointed to see not California in the top 10.
We too busy being our own bosses running are own business instead of focusing in school not all millionaires are college educated trust me I only have my high school diploma and yet I'm wealthier than most people with master degrees living in one of the most expensive city's in the United States here in California
The government in California doesn’t want people to be smart!! It’s easier to control and tax them

Yep college degrees mean you’re smart. Going to school for 4+ years and putting yourself in debt is a real smart thing to do.
Some people were smart enough to go to college on a full scholarship and received their degrees.
E-man let’s get a list of states with that info. It’s rare getting a full ride
E-man My son is graduating high school this year and has been applying for lots of scholarships so you are preaching to the choir

Nothin personnel kid. B)

I'm sure Utah was not in this category. Even before the video starts. Based on the fact that the major university here is in the 50% tile according to US News & World Report and the other two major universities here accept you if you're breathing, they accept 97% and 100% of applicants. In addition to that they base their Intelligence on spirituality and not on what would appear to be common sense or rational thinking or even a scientific approach.
So am I.
