And there was me thinking I was going mad installing this stuff on my garden wall. So much variation in the tiles. I also fixed using external tile adhesive and got it everywhere! Plus they're black slate tiles!! Given it a nice sealer coat, and it really doesn't look too bad at all. Way better than the wall bare and that in itself was crap and out of line - so using the adhesive gave me a bit of play in lining it all up. First thing wife said was "there's a few gaps in it!" - so glad a professional has this problem. I even used grinder to shave a few of the edges off to make it sit better. Not an easy job, but I like the look of it.
I’m so grateful for this video!! I’m building my own backyard pond and I wanted to use concrete blocks but was wondering how to cover them, so I thought i might aswell use red bricks but now ima head back to the concrete blocks and cover with the same walking you used. Thank you so much great review and guide!
Landscaper from Melbourne, use that product as well, absolute ball ache doing the corners ! Can also cut a piece in half, mitre each side of the half and then you get a nice clean corner - obviously a lot more work ! Love you channel 👍👍
thanks Lachlan I did actually consider that idea also but the corners are so brittle they would’ve just fallen apart Thanks for watching much appreciated 👍🏴
Haha I'm so glad you made this video as i put the same stuff around our pond and it drove me crazy especially the fact they are all over the place size wise and there were a few that were clearly just shite glued back together. They look awesome wet and from a distance but having a keen eye I'm always looking at the joints 🙃 Looking forward to the full video buddy 👍🏼
So you’ve had the same issues as me before with these things personally I bloody hate them they’re so temperamental and un square.. The customer is always thinks it looks great the one you have the eye so easy to spot the faults 👍🏴
Hi mate, have you ever had issues using Sika adhesive rather than cement based trowel on adhesive ? I want to do my garden wall but wondered if that grab adhesive has ever failed with rainwater etc ? Thank you
My neighbour is currently covering their patio wall with these things. They look atrractive until you come to the corners, especially the external corners, where they look exactly like the stick-on bricks they are. For me, I would build up the external corners with actual bricks (sliced to half depth), The corners would look like the corner of a house.. and the tile bricks would only fill in the straight runs. Much neater finish and the tiles look much more like authentic 'stone-walling' than stick-ons.
@@tidybrickslandscaping I can’t see them lasting too long with heat/cold expansion/contraction working them loose but hey, why am I expecting anything to last these days.
@@andy-maunder regarding expansion I don’t think there would be a problem as it’s just slate and stays the same but you kick a football at it and bits will definitely come off it’s very brittle. Enjoying the vids. Do you use an angle grinder to cut these? If so what type of blade?
What is the primer you use?
All tiles are pre cut just prime and fix also primer comes with the tiles if bought from Marshall’s 👍🏴

Thanks for agreeing Roberto so it’s not just me then that makes me feel a bit better 👍🏴
Can you install these on a small red brick wall directly or would it be best to render it first?
As long as the wall isn’t painted just got off the bricks but also it has to be flat 👍🏴

It’s a Marshall’s product for walling check it out 👍🏴
How deep do you go for the base of the planter? And isit just 2 block high or is there a half underneath ? Thinking of doing this great vid mate
150mm for the footing I could of done 100mm but na more the better don’t want it cracking for the sake of 1 more mix 👍🏴
Concrete level with FFL
Feel your pain
Did a massive wall and couldn’t believe the size difference absolutely hated doing it.
Customer loved it but my head not so much
Completely agree with you Luke seems to be a common problem then really 👍🏴
Can I ask how many stack stones can you stick on on the one sika 300ml adhesive? How much per square metre per tube?
It’s about 2 box’s of 7 if I remember 👍🏴
@ thanks just completed my pool besser block wall ans yeah I got 2 boxes out of one sika tube
Hi, do you need planning permission for putting them at the front of your house on brick wall?
I should think so I saw a property that done the same the other day in Cardiff on my travels 👍🏴
good stuff i'm about to embark on the same journey cheers
Good luck 🤞 very temperamental remember 👍🏴
Can you put them onto a rendered painted wall
No you’ll have to strip,it back to plain cement first as the paint is a barrier that will fail at some point 👍🏴

I tub of adhesive did about 8 tiles ish 👍🏴
@@tidybrickslandscaping thank you mate!
How about that primer that 1L I got 7sqm of wall to do is 1L enough or do I need 2L of the primer
Hi Scott, where did you get the sandstone edges from in your last video? Your right they look far nicer but I’m sure a lot more expensive
They are actually it’s curb edgings I bought from Marshalls very nice piece of stone maybe about £25 each 👍🏴
Hi Scott I feel your pain they do look good but a right pain in the ass to install
They do look good and yes it is a pain in the arse to install 👍🏴
Looks sound, I wonder if it would look better with corner beads it would be easier that’s for sure
