Great video as always Shaun. What I love about this channel is that over the few years you have been on UA-cam we have seen you visit many gardens with lots of different issues. It feels me with confidence when I’m working on my own lawn being a beginner that I can come to your channel anytime and remind myself of the correct way of doing things. You inspired me to do my lawn I clean up every step of the way like you do also. Keep all your hard work I certainly appreciate all your efforts as I’m sure many others do. 👍
Exactly this. He is my favourite when it comes to Lawn Channels explains well without waffling on too much and loosing your attention with Ph levels and what nonsense. I’ve got a fairly new build home with a clay boggy lawn so I’m looking forward to using his tips to help make mines lush.
I have had a Bulldog Springbok rake and a pair of their secateurs for nearly 40 years and use them regularly, a great brand and I’m going to get that leaf rake you used. Another great video and that customer needs to invest a bit more so you can bring those lawns back to life 👏👏👏
Can’t wait for a few consecutive dry days up in Glasgow going to try to a renovation on mines to get it looking good for next year. Genuinely thank you for all the tips Shaun, it’s a great watch. Customer should have went for at least an aeration on top of this too but shame they didn’t go for the Full Bhuna would have made their lawn epic for starting off next year.
Great vdo as usual here thx!! Intend to do the same with my lawns tomow given it’s the last mild day of weather for a while ( Mcr area) a low cut…scarify & tidy up before winter starts…also have a Bulldog lawn rake as great for the leaves etc…. 🤔😉👍🏻
Hi.. thanks.. overseeding is putting down additional seeds to filling gaps. Fertilizing is adding grass food/nutrients to help it achieve prime health and colour
If overseeing this time of year, do you think the new grass will be strong enough to survive once the cold hits. On the fence at the moment whether to renovate my lawn or to wait till spring next year
Definitely fine to do y9 till usually mid october..this allows 6 weeks after for it to come through... however... I'd you have shaded areas wait till spring
@@LawnRight Hi Shaun, I’m in the Pacific Northwest with cool season grass (tall Fescue) what npk should I use. I been using 25-0-20 for the summer, and it works great.
@@rickbrown7067 hi I'd start lowering the nitrogen a little now and a touch of phosphorous so basically a more balanced fert..sonal are roughly more equal
Wow, so much came out from that lawn, I am shocked :) because this looks like a fairly new house/new lawn? Btw, beautiful house, it has kerb appeal for me. I did lawn renovation last Saturday, it took me 6 hours.. Sunday and Monday I was dying 😂 I also applied nematodes. But I am not sure if I can apply any fertiliser now? Like start seed or something? I used compost as a top dressing. Last year, I used top soil.

Hi. I have the same Stihl scarifier, but what is the lowest setting you have ever used? I seem to find 2 is the best, but if you go to 4, 5 or 6 do you need to re-seed?
Mowing and a scarification isn't a renovation or transformation. Those terms are so inflated on YT. Soon a mowing is going to be considered a new lawn.
Is it too late to scarify+aerate+seed? I’m doing it all tomorrow, but am I asking for trouble? Based South East and it’s kinda mild and very rainy right now, so hopes the lawn would recover quick.
amazing how much stuff the scarifier takes out, did mine in the spring after watching you vids, took nearly 5 wheelie bins of moss out, wow did it make a differnce, lawn has looked the best it ever has this summer, thanks for all the vids, much appreciated.
I usually put a little compost on even if not overseeding. I think it helps to breakdown the thatch further and it certainly increases the recovery rate. Just perhaps 1 bag for 25 m2
I thought you would have to reseed every time you scarify. And that's a good tip to put the machine on one when doing the edges cos I always get bare patches around the edges
Thanks.. seeding is definitely advantageous for sure.. I do remember a customer years ago who simply watered heavily a very bare, heavily scarified lawn for a few weeks and it came up lovely

The cars tell you all you need to know….
I'll be scarifying my lawn this week, so this is a timely video!
Cheers Mike!
Always nice to see another video.
Gota love a good dethatch, I always breath easier when my lawn breaths easier 👍
Like it 😉😉

Great video again Shaun. What is the music playing in the background please? Very nice and chilled 👌
Hahh you got me again! I've been adding songs to most videos recently but didnt on this. Apologies
the song is called "coming home again" by Alexander valentine. :)

Shaun we’re you able to put down some fertilizer there before the rains come in?
Hi yes I put dow an autumn fertilizer right after the scarify

Hi.. you can add some preseed fertiliser if you want but if not dont sweat it
Just keep it well watered 😁
@LawnRight thank you :) weather is great now, because its rainy, so it is well watered indeed 😊
Have just purchased ones of these go along side my eliet 450. The sthil 540 , where do you get replacement fixed blades for these?

Beau travail
what should be the lenght of the lawn after you cut it before Scarifying.
No hard rules
But shorter is better
Great video. I hate to see gardens open plan,or did they just not bother to put a fence up in the front?.
Open plan unfortunately
Great job as always! -some random chap from across the pond

Hi as the blades blunt youll find yourself going deeper sometimes to get anywhere. Generally though I'm always between 2 and 3
Great video Shaun, can I ask when this reno took place, please, Aug/Sept?
Hi literally 4 or 5 days ago

@@LawnRightis it still fine to overseed a lawn or would you say it’s to late in the year?
@@19davidwinter88only too late when it's October and temps are low. Now is perfect with good temps and lots of rain
@@David-wh7rm I’m going to scarify and overseed this weekend before it comes in to October hopefully get the seed up and away before it gets to cold

It is not. I am in Kent and done renovation last Saturday :) I feel like there is still good 2 weeks time to get it done.
Plenty of time yet.. mid october typically my last time to do it
Is itva slow release fertiliser you put on
Hi yes when it's raining a lot.. If we go full on high nitrogen quick release it'll grow fats and will struggle to get it cut
My thoughts exactly 😊
Well done shaun

good stuff 👌no doubt you have plenty autumn scarifying to do 👍

Will you do core aeration to this customer for the next days?
No. I can only advise on best practises but it's a different ball game when folks have to pay so anything is better than nothing
