I lived in San Diego when I first played this game. The corner store by my dads apartment had this and I spent every quarter and dollar I could get my hands on playing it. Circa 1985. Nostalgia at it's finest. Thanks for upload.
40+ years ago, this was the state of the art in video games. Younger people today just have *NO* idea how different it was. They're spoiled not only by the 3D elements, gorgeously orchestrated scores, and voice work that can be in games, but the sheer AMOUNT of them now. Think about it; back in the day, there were only hundreds to thousands of video games. Now... omg... there are HUNDREDS of thousands. Possibly millions (IDK).
I have a PS4, but grew up on NES. And you're spot on. I remember thinking "Contra","Double Dragon","Ninja Gaiden" & later "Sonic the Hedgehog" from Sega Genesis were the ultimate in graphics. Now, I play "NHL '22" & "Minecraft" daily & it's no comparison.
Of course younger generation know , they play retro emulators - idk why it's everyone says that younger gamers don't realize how great video games graphically are today , absolutely makes no Fn sense

I'm from Durban , South Africa. I played this game when I was 11 years old. I'm now 49. Remains my favourite game of all time! What an era we lived through 😊😊
Yeah definitely played this allot..It was at one of our pizza parlours..So we'"d hit it after school.. weekends or before cricket training..Also we had games in most milk bars and fish and chip shops..Hyper Olympics..Moon Patrol..Ghost and Goblins🔥..1927..Rastan Saga..to name few..🇦🇺🐨👍
I used to live in Pakistan (Karachi) It came into one of the local shop in 1985 I was 10 that time. My cousin brother was very good at this. Now im 49 and have it on mame32. This game is a Legend
That sounds very much like Moon Patrol (1982) music because both shared the same designer, Takashi Nishiyama. He would go on to direct Street Fighter (1987) and create the famous Hadouken special attack for the player characters. Now you know! 😎
When I was a kid I was in karate and I really trained hard to be really good at it because I was convinced that at some point in the future a criminal organization was going to kidnap my parents and I would have to dress up like a ninja and save them. So games like this remind me of that time in my life
This game is so simple but so fun. There was a sequel to it on the Famicon. I forgot what Kung Fu was called on the Famicon though. I have it on an emulator. It's a bit different but you can still see the gameplay being similar.
You definitely earned that high score. It's been a long time since I've had to think about how brutally difficult games could be in the past. You die, then you start over... if you're lucky. Otherwise you got to drop another quarter in the slot. Well done.
I was living in Singapore as a kid in 1984 when this came out. I use to go to the arcade all the time and play this and all the rest of the amazing retro games. They weren't retro back then, they were all state of the art and bad ass. I really miss those days ❤
OMG! You took me back with this one. Their pizza was legendary, and they gave you a pitcher of soda when you ate there. Not to mention the tabletop arcade games they used to have when you looked down at the screen. Too bad they moved from Maryland to San Diego 😞
This was my first introduction to videogames, on an Atari, thank god they evolved quickly and side scrolling games like TMNT and Double Dragon and Contra took over later on. Great times
This is one of the _FIRST_ ,...full-sized, stand alone games that I (sorta') "mastered".....as an 11 year-old, at the local Cumberland Farms (convenience store)....across the street from my house! What _WONDERFUL_ memories, from a _TIMELESS AGE_ ,...that I will *FOREVER* , treasure!!
My all time favorite. This game was an obsession. Took a long time for me to realize that to beat the 4th floor wizard you had to kneel and chest punch.
Kung Fu master e Elevator Action eram minhas paixões, mas Kung Fu era mais difícil em razão de raramente ter um arcade com o controle decente, o lag era terrível.
This game brings back good memories played the NES version as well. This game reminded me of the movie Game Of Death with Bruce Lee when he defeated each master he walked up the stairs.I remember everyone used to call the third Boss Mister Clean,Besides this game 1984 had a lot great Arcade games Punch Out,Duck Hunt,Hogans Alley,Space Ace,Time Pilot 84,Yie Er Kung Fu Karate Champ to nzme a few 1984 what a year. I miss you 80s
I used to play this to death. In the arcades, then Kung Fu home on Nintendo . What's that game called with the two fighters one in a white gi and one in a red gi with that judge "Full point!!" or "half point" then you had to jump over a charging bull at some point after a match? It had two joysticks on it in the arcade, and you could do a bunch of sick moves? I loved that game, too.
My buddies and I used to play the crap out of this game at the comer store in my neighborhood back in the day. I spent every damn quarter I could get my hands on. And when the quarters ran out we used to hammer down nickels until they were the size of quarters and for the most part they would work. What I wouldn’t give to go back in time to those days. I miss the 80’s….the best decade of all time.
My childhood flashed before my eyes on thanksgiving day.
I threw so many coins into that machine!
Your childhood sucked then

Great comment mark, and you’re absolutely right.👍✌️
@@markmorris7123 some months I would spend my whole pocket money in one day at the arcades.

I would go further back as my first console was Colecovision with the Atari 2600 attachment.
I loved this game in the late '80s. I could never go over the third floor
I mean on the third floor of course. When facing an old warrior whose magic is very annoying😂
😂
No one could unless you had 100 quarters 😂😂😂
I always lost at Kareem Abdul Jabbar 😉

Good memories!
That last fight battle with the final boss was epic…. The villain was tough.

Awesome my man
Everyone already knows this!
The Nostalgia I Remember The Line Was Long To Play This Game And Who Didn't Play Was Hanging Around The Arcade Game 🕹
Indelible childhood memories have been brought back.
This video game was in the corner store in my neighborhood. Millilipede was next to it. Memories from the past. Good ones.
This was like watching a high scorer playing the game at the bowling alley 40 years ago.
These sound effects triggered some great memories of playing. Also triggered memories of running out of quarters. 😊
Damn this game brings back fond memories! Data East had a banger with this one!
Maybe another version
I played this sooooo much in the 80's when it came out.

One of those arcades that was every where back in the 80s. It was that good.
Man, this takes me back! I used to dominate this game too! Nothing like the 80s video arcades!
Thank you from the bottom of my soul - This game bring back all sort of memories - THANK YOU !!
This WAS THE STUFF WHY I PERSONALLY LOVE KUNG FU 😢😅
The lines of people waiting to play this back in the day. Level 4 was the hard one.
I remember playing this game when I was 11 years old 💯👍👍💯😎
For a second, I was 12 years old again. Wow. You got me.
After years of being defeated by Thomas, Mr. Clean (3rd Floor boss) gave up fighting and decided to fight tough kitchen grease instead 😂
Loved that game.. played it for hours and when it came out on the Commodore 64 I wore out a controller!!!. Great memories of great days 👍

Thank you for this video, this game tormented me as a child. Many trips to the 7-11 and many quarters. Finally, justice!
Music brings back so many memories
I can smell the pizza at Shakey's seeing this again. Played every school day with lunch money lol.
Wow for me it was Larry's Pizza Bronx NY
For me I could smell the Pizza Puffs, Italian Beefs, Wings with Mild Sauce, Gyros and Fries at a small family owned restaurant on Chicago's West Side.
OMG! You took me back with this one. Their pizza was legendary, and they gave you a pitcher of soda when you ate there. Not to mention the tabletop arcade games they used to have when you looked down at the screen. Too bad they moved from Maryland to San Diego 😞
Thanks for this! I dumped countless quarters into this game as a kid! Awesome!
This actually good for 1984.
Loved playing this in the arcade, and "streets of rage" and "shinobi"
I used to play this game on back in the days in 4th grade on 42nd Street. Thanks for the post my friend awesomeness bringing back my childhood 😊.
One of the first games we had on the old Commodore Plus 4 around 1986…
Ah. Childhood memories of Llangrannog Welsh youth camp in the 80's.
The battle for the high score between us 10 year old boys was very competitive
The arcade version is from the tough era of video games great job
If only I could get all my quarters back!
This was my first introduction to videogames, on an Atari, thank god they evolved quickly and side scrolling games like TMNT and Double Dragon and Contra took over later on. Great times
I honestly never knew there was an arcade version of this. Grew up with the NES version.
Sim existia eu joguei muito nos bares onde tinham a máquina , isso em 1984 já 40 anos atrás 😊
😮😮😮😮😮
I do remember this, it was in the Arcade where i grew up
Mostly Evey nes game was in the arcades first like, contra, double dragon, p.o.w, renegade, trojan, bubble bobble and a whole bunch more
Yep. Those snakes cost me a lot of 10p’s as a kid 😂
One of my favorite games. Very fluid movement I hasn’t seen before
This game needed a line-up of sequels,
too bad Irem couldn't handle it well.
Great memories from childhood, back then this game was amazing, and hard still is
Why aren't the little guys doing flips? 🤔
I used to rule this game. Won some free records with the high score 😂
My brother and I were cracking up the first time we saw those little green guys, when this came out in the arcade.
Loved this game 😎👍

Bro this game! Was one of my 1st social life killers as a kid!
His kick was like Bruce Lee’s side kick in Enter the Dragon. Loved this game as it was so playable back in the day
My all time favorite. This game was an obsession. Took a long time for me to realize that to beat the 4th floor wizard you had to kneel and chest punch.
Seeing this and im right back there, 10yrs old spending all my 10ps, still never completed though....good times 😊
Em 1995 eu gastei tanto dinheiro em fliperamas jogando esta belezinha, que jogo top demais. Infância desbloqueada com sucesso.

Oh my God this was one of my favorite games!
I used to play this so much. I was 9.
So no one is going to talk about how Thomas’ girlfriend got herself out of the ropes she was tied down with after he beat the final boss?
What I don’t understand is why she kept getting in trouble. She should have left town.
Really like this channel. Great work!! KFM was a favorite of mine many years ago....
Used to play this at my local chippy on lunch at school. Great times.
This guys would have wipe the floor with Bruce Lee!
Lotsa quarters were harmed in the making of my memories of this game !
So dope!! I’ve been gaming since Coleco Vision and Atari 2600 so this takes me back.

THANK YOU FOR THIS GAMEPLAY I HAVE BEEM SEARCHING FOR THIS ONE YOUR CHANNEL IS THE BEST!
I completely forgot about this game until I heard the music. Wow!
Imagine this was actually fun when we were young.
Had it on original Nintendo in 1991-92.
It was more affordable than most other games majority of which costed $90.
"Kung Fu" was $40.

@ Hahaha!! Yeah, my neighborhood buddies and I were pretty innovative. It took a bit of work to get them to the perfect size but it was fun.
So many memories playing this game at the pizza shop.My dad worked there part time. I never seen anyone completed the game at that time
OMG!! Brings back memories!!
now just imagine how well thomas fights without that stick embedded
