      Also, follow up question, for Networking should I also teach myself port programming, socket programming, and code client and server?

      No need. All it will do is give you better understanding of how ports/sockets work but if you get it from the lecture you’re fine.

    • @SimplyCyber
      @SimplyCyber  3 роки тому +2

      It will depend on your comfort, prev exp, etc., but each lesson is about 8-15 minutes long. You could plan a few hours per module. You may want to give yourself more time to study some of the lessons and do extra research as you are learning along the way. You could knock it out in a week if you did a few hours each day.

    • @SimplyCyber

      Joe said it really depends on what role you are looking to move into. there isn't one lab to rule them all. BUT i'm going to do a lab on building a massive honeypot for curating your own threat intel. Good for defense, and easy on the eyes. Next few weeks. You could spin that into a resume bullet.

      I will definitely look at AWS tonight to see if that works better. Thank you again.

    • @SimplyCyber
      @SimplyCyber  3 роки тому +1

      @@williamb8313 so if you get fusion working you can download any Unix flavor. Ubuntu is popular and stable. If you want to go AWS do that. Pick free tier and make security controls right. If you search “aws” on my channel I have done several labs where I build an aws machine first so you can get that piece.
      If you go Ubuntu local which is fine just open a “terminal” once you get in there so you aren’t clicking on windows but typing into a command screen. Let me know how it goes. If it’s a mess I’ll make a video just showing how to do this

    would you recommend this over security+ ?

    • @SimplyCyber
      @SimplyCyber  3 роки тому +2

      Sec+ is a security focused cert. it’s worth getting if you’re new to industry. This training is base Operating systems, networking, and programming which (minus the programming) are good to know as you get into the field. It isn’t one or the other. I’d say do this first then sec+ or do at same time
