The Ford GT is an American mid-engine two-seater sports car manufactured and marketed by Ford for model year 2005 in conjunction with the company's 2003 centenary - and again in redesigned form for model year 2017.
The GT recalls Ford's historically significant GT40, consecutive four-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (1966-1969), including a 1-2-3 finish in 1966.
he Ford GT began as a concept car designed in anticipation of the automaker's centennial year and as part of its drive to showcase and revive its "heritage" names such as Mustang and Thunderbird. At the 1995 Detroit Auto Show, the Ford GT90 concept was shown. At the 2002 auto show, Ford unveiled a new GT40 Concept car. Camilo Pardo, the head of Ford's "Living Legends" studio, is credited as the chief designer of the GT and worked under the guidance of J Mays. Carroll Shelby was brought in by Ford to help develop the Ford GT; which included performance testing of the prototype car. While the project was still secret, it was called Petunia.

E cars may indeed be the future but the noise coming out of a GT40 will never be lost, it's just wonderful. I'm a motorhead and at 82 I have never lost my appreciation for the sounds of gas and fuel engines, never.

One of the most beastly cars you could ever drive. Maybe a Porsche 917 would be equally bad ass. The GT40 and 917 are my all time favorites.
I'm not sure why but I like these more than the modern versions
I raced GP motorcycles and that sound can never be forgotten, the sound of going through the gears at Willow Springs or Riverside, just wonderful on a Honda CR110 or a Yamaha TZ250, yum.

Amazing ride. Around 5 min in as you are getting on a highway, there is a work van or something that passes you and I never see you pass him back up lol, what the hell was he driving? Haha that's a fast work van. Awesome car man.

as much as the new GT is cool, the old ones are still my fav they should keep producing them but take that stupid door overhang off so you can get out of the car like normal cars instead of squirming our when in a tight place. for me i would get the new vet as my everyday driver because i also like the vs sound, ecco boost 6 just does not cut it for me.

This is about Ford GT's...not the LeMans Legend, which was the GT 40, a totally different machine. The Ford GT's were built in the early 2000's and were larger than the GT 40's of LeMans fame....lets get it right and not be click baters.
Yeah...a few GT 40 reproductions were in there but no true GT 40's were in this video as far as I could tell.
What the Hell with all of the artistic shots? This is a critique from someone asking someone else to just show the cars in their best light in a simple way. Put two cameras in the car and leave them there. On of the Speedometer in a small screen on the side and the Point Veiw of the driver. That is what is ONLY way do record it correctly. Not a view of the back bumper. Not anywhere in the dirt, not looking at the driver's hands, not sstriaght at the guages the whole time, not straight up a wheel well. Just mount the cameras and walk away. PLEASE ALREADY! And the ONLY soundtrack that is needed is the motor. I'm sorry, but this is worse than the unprofessional pics that you get at looking at cars on E-Bay or similar sites from people who couldn't take good pics if their lives depended on it and they think they are professional. What I did like was when you were showing the cars you were back far enough to show the whole car. Like I like to watch drifting from Ken Block, but the videos are terrible. If others complain, again I'm sorry.

I’m happy that I grew up with V8s and the primal sound of it all. Electric cars will be faster but the sound will never be as cool. I’m a Vette man but hats off to ford for these cars.

I'm a "Dyed in the Wool" GM man, mainly Corvettes, I've said it before in other venues, the GT-40 will cause me to stray.
Elictric cars are usually quicker, but not necessarily faster. The best thing about them is zero emissions. Nothing will ever replace the sensation of a high powered V type gas buring engine!
Was fortunate enough to get a ride around Road Atlanta (4 laps) with a Ford Test Driver 5 years ago. It took me several hours to get the smile off my face, and my junk back down. Thank goodness I had a friend take pictures.

I see a lot of engine revving, noise making, posing blowing flames, but not enough exciting driving. A car to remember the car ford started designing and couldn't get to work. Handed it to Shelby. Who dumped the motor ford used and told ford to use it as a boat anchor. Then Shelby put a real motor in, renamed it gt40 and won with Shelby races.
