There have been more studies, some showing far worse 12:1 and even 21:1 conversion of beta-carotene to vitamin A. Dr. John Campbell just did a video about correlation between Vitamin A deficiency and the new data on pneumonia related outbreak in China… wonder what dietary causes might be associated 🤔
For those of you who are inventors out there with a background in vitamin chemistry, could you please see if there is a way to develop a safer and more sophisticated version of Vitamin A? Surely, there is a way.
@Helenegardener To solve most Vitamin A deficiency related problems quite rapidly. Also, to have an alternative to the currently available forms of Vitamin A.
I recommend eating the egg yolks raw. They're really not that bad, especially if coming from pasture-raised organic eggs. Chase it with a little high quality butter, or organic Sour Cream, or good MCT oil afterward, to 1) remove any unwanted aftertaste , and 2) help potentiate (increase the nutritional effects of) the fat soluble nutrients in the egg yolk (which includes Choline, Vit. K2, and many other fat soluble nutrients, which are great to get food-based forms of). Egg whites are problematic, especially if eaten raw. Not just unpleasant taste and consistency, but there are significant anti-nutrient effects from eating raw egg yolks. (one small example: it will block your body from being able to utilize the biotin found in the egg yolk. That's related to the B-vitamins) Raw egg yolks are easy to digest, relatively speaking, compared to the raw egg whites (which can be very hard to digest, depending on the person). Take digestive enzymes (esp. ones designed for fat digestion assistance) ahead of time is a good idea too. Digestive bitters wouldn't hurt either, shortly before you eat.
Excellent question. This video (Dr. Berg's presentation) would have been significantly better if he had taken the time to explain that distinction. Also, perhaps why that distinction was important in the first place. These important details would have improved the video immensely. (Rather than just going with the assumption that "natural" is better than "synthetic". It is my understanding that that can actually vary, according to the vitamin under consideration. Though I do prefer food-based, when it's possible /do-able.) BTW, I take Innovix Labs' "3-in-1 Formula" softgels, which have: Vitamin K2 (both the MK-4 and MK-7, with amounts specified for each), Vitamin D3 (5,000 IU), and a reasonable amount of Vit. A in each pill (900 mcg, or 3,000 IU , from "Cod Liver Oil and Vitamin A Palmitate"). They're a high quality company, and I trust their supplements. I know it's very important to not over-take Vitamin A.

Hey dr Berg! I used Tretinoin (a retinoid like accutane but in cream form) for a few years in the highest strength and I’ve reason to believe it caused my dry eye. I’ve been off it for about 8 months but eyes still dry as ever. I’ve switched to a beef tallow + sweet almond oil mostirzer as it has natural vitamin A along with vitamin E and K. Would the vitamin A here still effect my eyes since it’s directly on the skin especially if I use it under the eyes? And is there anything I can do about the dry eye?
Dr. Eric, thank you so much for the valuable info, I was about to get a COD liver supplement, but then I found a good vitamin A from a brand called NOW, and it says at the back: from Retynil Palmitate and Fish liver oil. and in the ingredients it says: COD, Saithe, Haddock & Pollock. I mean I've heard of the people who eat liver everyday and the people who eat a full pack of liver. I'm only looking to probably eat an ounce like 2-3 times a week and keep the rest in the freezer.
But due to my damaged gut from sibo and autoimmune disorders. I know I'm lacking so much in vital nutrients and minerals. And all those symptoms I've been suffering with for a while, like the night vision, skin issues, peeling skin and more. Especially how my old diet was for many years prior, where I mainly ate garbage all day. Where I barely got any neccasary nutrients in my daily before.
Onions with liver makes it taste better.
What's the taste like? Did you cook it up with other things?
Very easy to cook, just add onion, garlic, &a piece of ginger, tomato green or red chilli and salt to taste, don’t add water, cook for 15 minutes on low flame, then add little oil, and it’s ready to eat,
Just stay away from polar Bear liver and you should be fine.
@@SS-io7oz Soinds good.👍
What are your thoughts on Cod liver oil and malt, which has Vit D and Vit A in it?
what is malt?
@@lokomotive28 it's processed from grains and used in various things. Malt extract is a thick syrupy liquid which is mixed with the cod liver oil, I guess to make it more palatable. Google it, it's interesting.
Interesting. I recently started taking Vitamin A and it has done wonders for me. Cleared my brain fog and improved my skin psoriasis. I do happen to have a gall bladder chock full of stones so maybe that’s why i can’t get as much from food? I may switch to cod liver oil after seeing this.
What type are you taking?
@@frank0ate i was taking a brand that was a combo A and D and it was best. Unfortunately i threw away the bottle without jotting the brand. I was trying to use up what i had before realizing what worked best. Now i am taking A and D individually and both are the NOW brand. Still really good so far.
I highly recommend you don't take synthetic vitamin A for too long. I recently had a toxicity episode from a daily multivitamin and its miserable. And I'm still not fully over it. Be careful!

Thank you for your service!
Glad to help!
How much should we take per day? you left that out.
Will vary based upon age, gender, general health and the rest of YOUR diet choices.
@@SpamMouseis the liquid cod liver oil better than capsules
@@darlenegera8866 My guess is yes, however the answer to any such question will be depends on the brand. For the weeks we don't eat real oily fish at home I will pop a fish-oil capsule of one type or another, we have a broad range including krill-oil and golden squid oil. Which is "better" I have no idea, some are diluted with other oils, I don't let perfect be the enemy of good variety.
Thank you so much for all your helpful content, Dr Berg. Great video 💯
Thank you Dr. Berg, for sharing all that you know and educating us about nutrition.
Very glad to be of help.
this is very interesting! Especially because almost all doctors, dermatologists too, make ZERO connection between retinol skin care and hair loss. "But retinol helps skin and hair growth?? You're making wrong conclusions". Yea, don't think so... got off the bloody retinol cream and guess what? My hair grew back after i lost more than half of it. Also had all the weird symptoms; the most awful headaches of my life, vomiting constantly, bad vision, bad skin. Crazy how no one could figure it out and even after I did, they would make me feel like I'm crazy
I have a gene variant which blocks the conversion of beta carotene to Vitamin A. I take it otherwise I would never get enough. I test and monitor my blood levels. I also have Hashimoto's. I vehemently object to the title of this video. It implies other people should not take it either.
Dr berg i have a very bad case of KP...i was thinking of starting a vitamin A supplement...do you think its advisable?
*Love from India* ❤
@dr berg do you approve beef organ supplements? Thanks
Who doesn't!
THANKS DR BERG!❤
Most welcome!
Wish i never took Accutane… this caused my Crohn’s 😭😭
try HBOT therapy.
Dr. John Campbell just did a video about correlation between Vitamin A deficiency and the new data on pneumonia related outbreak in China… wonder what dietary causes might be associated 🤔
What is the relationship between vit A and Vit D3? And should we be taking 3 to 1 ratio of A to D3?
For those of you who are inventors out there with a background in vitamin chemistry, could you please see if there is a way to develop a safer and more sophisticated version of Vitamin A? Surely, there is a way.
@Helenegardener To solve most Vitamin A deficiency related problems quite rapidly. Also, to have an alternative to the currently available forms of Vitamin A.
Hi Dr Berg, is there a way to know what type of Vitamin A is in Cod Liver Oil? I keep seeing a combination of Retinyl Palmitate and Cod Liver Oil.
Thank you so much for this life changing information!
Again ...I REALLY needed this!
Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.
Amazing info 😊
Glad you like the info shared here. Thanks for watching!
But how bio available is vitamin A from cooked liver or eggs? Doesn’t cooking destroy most vitamins and denature proteins ?
@gentleoldmoviefan5680 she didn't ask you that question. She asked the doctor. Who are you to answer like a doctor?
Hello Dr Berg. I have begun taking supplements of yours that have this Vitamin A in them. whole food multivitamin and cod liver oil. Should I stop?!
How does one tell the difference between natural and synthetic vitamins?
Excellent question. This video (Dr. Berg's presentation) would have been significantly better if he had taken the time to explain that distinction. Also, perhaps why that distinction was important in the first place. These important details would have improved the video immensely.
(Rather than just going with the assumption that "natural" is better than "synthetic". It is my understanding that that can actually vary, according to the vitamin under consideration. Though I do prefer food-based, when it's possible /do-able.)
BTW, I take Innovix Labs' "3-in-1 Formula" softgels, which have: Vitamin K2 (both the MK-4 and MK-7, with amounts specified for each), Vitamin D3 (5,000 IU), and a reasonable amount of Vit. A in each pill (900 mcg, or 3,000 IU , from "Cod Liver Oil and Vitamin A Palmitate"). They're a high quality company, and I trust their supplements.
I know it's very important to not over-take Vitamin A.
Thank you very much. This is really important information.
Thank you. That actually meant a lot.
Thank you for mentioning these points. I always learn by watching your great videos.

Hi Doctor Berg, could you make a video in favor of the alleged toxicity of vitamin A? Lately, a diet low in animal and vegetal retinol seems very popular to restore not only metabolic health. Thank you for what he does every day.
Hello. Thanks for the video suggestion. Have a nice day!
Dr berg please help I took accutane and I’m trying to find a way to take away the side effects and I’m assuming there has to be a way to detox all the excess vitamin A
Take vitamin D K
Can I get vitamin a toxicity if I take both cod liver oil and fish oil every day? I just started taking cod liver oil about 30 days ago but didn't stop taking my 1000mg epa/dha fish oil and i've been consuming a lot of fish.
❤🙏Thank you so much Doctor Berg.Great advice always.
I think that's a good one to get yes?
I don't see the link to the good cod liver oil. please help
your prenatals list your vitamin a as from beta-carotene, literally what you just said was bad?
Yeah there’s lots of contradictions in his videos, a lot of his stuff pushes you toward his products, which are in turn often cheaply made
You have to remember that he’s a chiropractor, and not actually licensed to give the information he is as medical advice.
He does great summaries of google info though.
Retinol cream gave me flashing lights, head pressure, dizziness. I had to stop it.
