    There have been more studies, some showing far worse 12:1 and even 21:1 conversion of beta-carotene to vitamin A. The conversion also varies drastically based on genetics (certain European genes heavily reduce it). Essentially, a decent portion of the population is incapable of ever converting enough. Without consumption of animal products, many will be deficient.
    Also, my own personal anecdote I eat primarily beef and eggs with butter, and I recently added cod liver to my diet for the omega-3(didn't trust rancid capsules). I didn't even realize it had SOO much vitamin A. Anyways, I noticed a week or so later that my morning and nighttime vision was significantly better. I guess dozens of eggs a week were still not enough for my needs. I'm curious why my diet wasn't enough.

    Vitamin A toxicity => calcium deficiency; if you don't absorb enough calcium and magnesium your bone will be (over)used.
    Not synthetic but artifical form is problematic I mean retinil-acetate it is a liver poision because of water solubality liver can't store too much because it will precipitates out.
    Intracranial pressure => calcium deficiency problem you can find as side effect of calcium channel blockers medicine (Japanese study).
    Polar bear story was cadmium poisoning in fact (liver of polar bear accumulates cadmium; water contains cadmium on that land)
    For every 30000 IU retinol you will need 1200mg calcium, 600mg magnesium (you won't beleive but dolomite is the best; or corall calcium is even more better) and min 3000 IU vitamin D

  • @MelDamgaard
    @MelDamgaard 23 дні тому +1

    In my teenage years and in my early 20s, I was on accutane for 7-8 months at a time, both times, not because I had terrible acne, but because I would get 1 or 2 zits that were very large and they were on the side of my cheek or forehead that were painful and would disrupt my sleep. It took those massive zits away, and they never came beck until I was in my early 20s. They came back again, and I started the dosage again. After my second dose, I have never had to take it again in my life, and I am in my early 40s.
    I had absolutely zero side effects from it, especially depression, suicidal thoughts, and aggressive behavior!! Maybe I was one of the lucky ones who did not have these terrible side effects!! The medication did wonders for me, and I was very blessed that my dad had a terrific drug plan that covered it because he worked for Shell Canada!!

    I'm watching this, just after I just cooked and ate liver for the first time a few hours ago. I avoided liver so long because of the fear of vitamin A toxicity. But after months of research, I found out it is safe to consume (I hope). If you just do it in very minimal amounts of just an ounce.
    I mean I've heard of the people who eat liver everyday and the people who eat a full pack of liver. I'm only looking to probably eat an ounce like 2-3 times a week and keep the rest in the freezer.
    But due to my damaged gut from sibo and autoimmune disorders. I know I'm lacking so much in vital nutrients and minerals. And all those symptoms I've been suffering with for a while, like the night vision, skin issues, peeling skin and more. this is very interesting! Especially because almost all doctors, dermatologists too, make ZERO connection between retinol skin care and hair loss. "But retinol helps skin and hair growth?? You're making wrong conclusions". Yea, don't think so... got off the bloody retinol cream and guess what? My hair grew back after i lost more than half of it. Also had all the weird symptoms; the most awful headaches of my life, vomiting constantly, bad vision, bad skin. Crazy how no one could figure it out and even after I did, they would make me feel like I'm crazy

    • @gentleoldmoviefan5680
      @gentleoldmoviefan5680 Рік тому

      I recommend eating the egg yolks raw. They're really not that bad, especially if coming from pasture-raised organic eggs. Chase it with a little high quality butter, or organic Sour Cream, or good MCT oil afterward, to 1) remove any unwanted aftertaste , and 2) help potentiate (increase the nutritional effects of) the fat soluble nutrients in the egg yolk (which includes Choline, Vit. K2, and many other fat soluble nutrients, which are great to get food-based forms of). Egg whites are problematic, especially if eaten raw. Not just unpleasant taste and consistency, but there are significant anti-nutrient effects from eating raw egg yolks. (one small example: it will block your body from being able to utilize the biotin found in the egg yolk. That's related to the B-vitamins) Raw egg yolks are easy to digest, relatively speaking, compared to the raw egg whites (which can be very hard to digest, depending on the person). Take digestive enzymes (esp. ones designed for fat digestion assistance) ahead of time is a good idea too. Digestive bitters wouldn't hurt either, shortly before you eat.

    How does one tell the difference between natural and synthetic vitamins?

    • @gentleoldmoviefan5680
      @gentleoldmoviefan5680 Рік тому +1

      Excellent question. This video (Dr. Berg's presentation) would have been significantly better if he had taken the time to explain that distinction. Also, perhaps why that distinction was important in the first place. These important details would have improved the video immensely.
      (Rather than just going with the assumption that "natural" is better than "synthetic". It is my understanding that that can actually vary, according to the vitamin under consideration. Though I do prefer food-based, when it's possible /do-able.)
      BTW, I take Innovix Labs' "3-in-1 Formula" softgels, which have: Vitamin K2 (both the MK-4 and MK-7, with amounts specified for each), Vitamin D3 (5,000 IU), and a reasonable amount of Vit. A in each pill (900 mcg, or 3,000 IU , from "Cod Liver Oil and Vitamin A Palmitate"). They're a high quality company, and I trust their supplements.
      I know it's very important to not over-take Vitamin A.

    Hey dr Berg! I used Tretinoin (a retinoid like accutane but in cream form) for a few years in the highest strength and I’ve reason to believe it caused my dry eye. I’ve been off it for about 8 months but eyes still dry as ever. I’ve switched to a beef tallow + sweet almond oil mostirzer as it has natural vitamin A along with vitamin E and K. Would the vitamin A here still effect my eyes since it’s directly on the skin especially if I use it under the eyes? And is there anything I can do about the dry eye?
