Current generation will never understand the fearlessness of the 80s west indian cricket team they were called forces of deaths My heart goes after seeing current west indies team struggling Respect to the evergreen greats of the game from india
I’ve never known an aura around a batsmen like Sir Viv. To fear fast bowlers is one thing to fear a batsmen is quite another. Wearing no helmet and hammering the bouncers for sixes is an extremely rare gift. Bravery, guts and pure talent.
My father's generation all revered west indies cricket. They went to ground to watch these men play and wished for them even at the expense of their home team.
Unfortunately until the Delhi Asian Games in 1982 there was Television only in Delhi and Mumbai. So unless you saw the match live in India we only heard radio commentary. But ........no doubts those guys were the best. No team will ever comprehensively dominate world cricket like these guys
What a reply from Sir Vivian Richards to hit a six not a joke in Melbourne after being hit. Credits to bowlers and batsman. The best team of all time. Vivian Richards the number one batsman.
Really late 70's & 80's West indies players were greatest of their time. Sir viv Richard, Clive Lloyd, Malcom Marshall, Haynes, kalicharan, Holding, Roberts, Logie, Dujon.. Very attacking, a fierfull batting n balling unit...
We all know arrogance of Viv on that cricket - tatooed in our brain from his fire works from 70s n 80s but what I also know have him said - Behind that arrogance was that he very well knew , he could die facing every (missed) delivery - So true, Hats off to the champion!
Respect from the core of the heart for the great West Indies team...Cricket was art and passion that time...No helmets and no stupid rules for bowlers...only brave hearts like Viv Richard,Clive Lyod,Sunil Gavaskar,Kapil Dev,Imran Khan....ruled
Growing up as a kid in Australia in the 70’s & 80’s , I copped a fair deal of racism . It’s no wonder I didn’t barrack for my country , but the West Indies . Watching this video proves the white arrogance and racism by the old school white Australians ! Thankyou West Indian cricket team for smashing them out of the park and publicly humiliating them on their own soil in front of their own media & people 😃👍
I WONDER HOW DID SIR VIV RICHARDS FACE ALL THESE WEST-INDIES FAST BOWLERS IN THE NETS WITHOUT EVER WEAR A HELMET FOR SO MANY YEARS.."TRUE HARDCORE LEGEND"..!!!!
These stories should be taught to current west indies cricketer! so they get out of their drunken stupor and cheap trills.. instead learn to strive for the best!
I have often heard one of the greatest all-rounders of all times, Imran Khan, in all of his speeches on Cricket, about the greatness of West Indies of the 70s. To complement Imran, some of the elders of my own family tell me that they have never witnessed a cricketing team as strong and powerful as the West Indies of the 70s. I always used to think that why such a hype with the Windies of the 70s, but now when I see all of their matches from those eras, I do admit that there shall never be a cricketing team like the West Indies of the 70s ever again.
No success can match the legacy of the legendary westindies...off 70 to 80s....no team sports can offer such sawg n professionalism....for such a long period.... Australia had successful period but didn't have that all out aura, presence, attitude n maturity couple with...players who r still n forever b remember.....

A wonderful story of a crying bully who just couldn’t take it ! It’s fun every time I watch it - It will take Australia at least 10/15 years to recover from this total destruction - Respect Clive Lloyd and team !
As an Indian, Sourav Ganguly's India was a revelation as far as tough attitude is concerned. But growing up, I saw the most colourful entity of cricket decaying away. It was probably 93-94, West Indies defeated Australia in Australia 2-1. It was Ambrose, Walsh, Bishop, Patterson and Lara in prime form. And it was a sight to behold. But it was also the begining of the end. I lost all the interest in cricket after that. What Sourav's India did to me was only patriotic emotion. But the fun of watching cricket in the rythm of calypso was gone. The poetry was no more.
All my life I have grown loving the windies cricket . I am 40 and still play cricket and the game should be played in its true spirit. Have seen viv Richards, Graham Gooch, Desmond Haynes walk pass my eyes. What a beautiful game it was in those days. Batsman and the bowlers were so ferocious. Sadly the instinct is missing in today's sporting arena.
What i have seen from India vs england 2021 2nd test last innings was brutal intimidating fast bowling from Siraj,Shami,Bumrah & Ishant... Every Indian bowler and team mate was right in the face of english batsman and i suddenly remembered past WI and Australian bowlers who were so intimidating...just loved it❤️❤️
@@yasonthebeatread what he has written ya mug..it reminded him of the WI bowling...that's a respectful.statement towards that era...when you say something reminds of something else..it's a token of respect to both those things!..
Inspirational!!! Nice guys always win - Viv Richards is surely the coolest cricketer ever to walk the planet! (I had so much love & respect for him in the 80s, as I used to watch him routinely annihilate my beloved England team...!) And it's just funny @03:06 to see these guys dishing it back to those nice Australian gentlemen, replicating the same level of kind respect. 🤣🤣🤣
It amazing that Sunny scored 10000 plus runs against the deadly West Indian quartet, wily English attack of Botham and Willis, and the fearsome Australian attack of Lillie-Thompson pair. Surely this is enough to make him second only to Bradman.
Sunny did not score 10,000 runs against this quartet. That is a myth. He scored only two centuries against the quartet. All the rest of his hundreds were made in the early to mid 70s when the Windies had a spin based attack. Let's face it, Indians always dominate against spin bowling - and that is what Sunny did. But against the raw pace of the quartet, he was only average.
Nothing was better than watching two teams play ,had character talent ,rivalry the real competition Cricket lost its flare ,like the afl Lame now ,new rules and regulations that continue change the game that have already been established and placed with rules of the game why did they change it so much
That group of WI were champs but game apart listen to Viv describing in the end of video tri colored band he used to wear. A cricketer so close to his land and history:)

The same Australian who were so aggressive were crying.....😂😂😂
Hahaha that made me laugh 😂😂😂
harshavardhan godbole no bloody way!!
Aussies always cry when the opponents play as hard as them!
Makkajakka no way we never cry
Australia cricketers were tough....
But windies were too much for them....

Viv is the greatest.
The green for the land, the yellow for the gold that is taken away and the red for the blood that we shed... absolutely awesome..
Truly golden! Holding and Sir. Viv! Absolute gem.
Yeah mon
I had the pleasure to watching these greats in 1976 Wankhede Stadium in Bombay. Watched Clive Loyd score a double century.
I remembered listening to that 1975 series on the radio with my Grandfather. He was MAD as hell. I see why now
Man, I miss West Indies cricket!
"We kept the pressure on the opposition and we hammered them into the ground"😂
😁🤣
The same Australian who were so aggressive all of a sudden were crying that notorious smile on Sir great vivian's face😉
Cricket looked awesom when the windies were rulling world cricket. I love windies cricket.from a pakistani fan.
One of the best teams that ever played, respect from Australia.
We love the West Indies hands down

Arrogant? I saw confidence and complete coolness. What arrogance?
There is nothing wrong with being arrogant if you can back it up. Safe to say Viv clearly did
Respect from the core of the heart for the great West Indies team...Cricket was art and passion that time...No helmets and no stupid rules for bowlers...only brave hearts like Viv Richard,Clive Lyod,Sunil Gavaskar,Kapil Dev,Imran Khan....ruled

ADITYA BANDHU Why would they bowl bouncers at their captain without a helmet?
bro...bradman did not play them.....he retired in 50s i guess
Viv did not like facing bouncers in the nets. One bouncer in the nets, and Viv would march his bowlers unto the pitch.
i luv HOLDING,,, wat a bowler.

Gavaskar did faced all and without any gear.. he was able to play whole day
And cried and surrendered and complained about it
But Gavaskar may save a test match but he could never instill fear in bowlers minds like Sir Viv Richards did .
thank you so much for sharing this video.
