We need a team like that today! Sir Viv and the 'FEARSOME FOUR' were the final frontier for all teams in the 70s and 80s. What a bunch of individuals! Golden era!
These guys entertained the cricketing world with the best of Caribbean fireworks! A batting lineup that feared none and a bowling attack that the world feared! God bless the Windies!
What a phenomenal player Sir Viv. Absolutely terrified most bowlers when he came out chewing his gum, wheeling his arms to warm-up and sauntering to the crease. That whole West Indies team from the mid-1970s to the end of the 80s was truly awesome. What a privilege it was to have had the joy to watch them in action.
To be fair they smashed every team in that golden era of the 80's - no team could withstand the brutal physical and mental intimidation of the Windies 4 amazing quicks.
Yar i read somewhere that they are more interested in Rugby and one other sport bcz they are paid well in rugby . I m A pakistani . Kabaddi is a new emerged Charm in Punjab . Now sportsmen are interested in Kabaddi bcz they get quick fame in days more audience and a chance to get a job in Police and Army . so Social security and System is the back bone of any game
Wow ! That's badass ! What's more badass ? Little Sunny Gavaskar scored 14 of his 34 Test hundreds at an avg of 70+ against these fast bowlers without an effing helmet !!!
Israr Ahmed his first debut series was against the windies in 1971, where he scored plenty of runs, about 774 runs, the total number of runs he scored in that particular series.
Israr Ahmed during the series against the windies till 1983 (again against the windies), Sunil Gavaskar didn't wear helmet or skullcap. He faced the great "thomo" or Jeff Thomson, Dennis Lillee without helmet. This is ample proof of his grit and determination to not cow down before fast bowling greats and make a mark for himself on the world stage.
Wow! Champions stuff by WI team. Sir Viv Richards as fearless as always. The quickies giving it back to the loudmouth Aussies. The Aussies had put their mouth in the wrong den :D
Are all Australians universally hated by Indians as it seems on every youtube cricket video? I always thought of visiting India but not sure I would make it out alive. Would it be better for me to pretend im from New Zealand?
Manish Pandey is a better batsman than Viv Richards. Manish Pandey scored an unbeaten century against Australia in Australia in Sydney in SCG while chasing the target of 330 in his fourth ODI of his career. Viv Richards can never play an innings like Manish Pandey even in his dreams. Manish Pandey is the greatest batsman. Viv Richards is nothing compared to him. Manish Pandey is way much better batsman than Viv Richards. Manish Pandey batsman beautifully unlike Viv Richards who bats like thrash. Viv Richards can't play Dale Steyn but Manish Pandey could easily play Dale Steyn. I don't know why Viv Richards was taken in west indies team and why Manish Pandey wasn't taken in Indian. Mind blowing.... giving the aussies a enhanced taste of their own stuff without the gimmicks. A team of brilliant fearless batsmen and fearsome bowlers turning the gentleman's game inside out.
Why oh why didn't the west indies invest in younger guys to take the places of the four horsemen after this quartet the entire bowling attack fell except for the likes of bishop who departed early due to injury then Walsh and ambrose both of whom left at the same time..the west indies have been scrambling ever since for a formidable bowling arsenal...this is pleasing to the eye but it jus highlights the woeful plight that has become the shadow of west indies cricket
Yes such a shame too. The WI by the 90's no longer dominated the world or the Australian team away or at home. Was their golden era as the mid 90's till 2010 was ours. I think India is having a golden era now a very impressive team India I look forward to their tour of Australia they will be tough to beat esp in the odi matches. T20 I don't care of coarse who wins that crap but the tests and odi are going to put Australia's I think good but certainly not the best team we've had to the test. Goes in cycles I guess and makes it interesting.
N PG you may possibly be the first aussie that did not curse any Indian player or call us hometrack bullies. We need more guys like you from Australia and India while all I see is Indians and Australians abusing each other in cmnt sections. And ya I agree with you What a team you guys had 90s-late 2000s. Look it's always tougher to beat a team at home it is a given. Australia cannot win every time and every series as it sometimes seems to be expected here. And too many excuses made etc. I enjoy cricket and watching great players play the game. Looking forward to see Kholi in action and I will hopefully get to a game to see this obvious great player in action. As well as Smith and our talents as well. Of coarse I hope we win ha ha but over all I hope it's a hard fought contest. Cheers mate!
The youngsters are more interested in American basketball. Which is a pity. I'd like to see the WI back to this standard and come and hammer the Aussie cheats again.
By this time, almost every batsman was wearing a helmet. Just to see Viv chewing gum, wearing a cap, and hooking Hogg is marvelous and kinda insane at the same time.
Mallikarjuna Govindugari every team sledges Australia is the only country that gets blamed for it but it’s ok it’s like being white it’s ok to b racist against white peoples and anyone from Australia 😜
All teams sledge and sometimes go too far. England sledges us big time to and we love it. As long as it stays on field. Not saying Australia hasn't had a few moments that went too far but so have SA and England. I have seen India fired up over here as well and giving our boys lip. And so they should... No fire no victory my friend. But India have fire and that's why they are a tough team to beat and one of the top teams always in the world. Passion and fire and skill. Get over your hate as many of us love India touring Australia always tough and entertaining. Remember it's India that have crowds jump the fence like a mob of animals and ruin games not Australians we take defeat and bad decisions like civilised people. Just enjoy the game and the fact you have countries to play against.

Really good documentary, and a great WI teams, lions in the true sense of the word, epitomised by the great Viv Richards, "the only way I'm not here is if I get knocked out!"
I remembered that series in 1975/76 the Australians out played the wi team,we back in the region was worrying about the safety of the players. The whole team was running from Lillie, and Thompson they gave the wi team a really good buss ass 5/1. It was a international disgrace on the wi team,I know when everyone made their debut on that team. That team which went to Australia in 1975/76,I knew about all of them. That series was a very bad experience for them, and they learned from that series.I heard Viv talking about protective gears he is the only WI player never worned it, throughout his career against all the teams he played. But I would guarantee him if Viv was playing against the great wi four prongs,he would have to wear it.There is no questions that he would have to wears protective gears ,if he was facing the 4 WI fast bowlers. Especially when he is facing the great Patrick Patterson ,I have seeing him facing Rambo Patrick Patterson at Sabina Park, and none of the WI batsmen is no match to him. When facing him they would back off to Square leg,I saw all of them facing Rambo Patrick Patterson. So I know what am saying, because I saw it with my two eyes.
Viv Richards significant innings in matches when Patterson played against him: 120 for Somerset v Lancashire when Patterson played, in the 1985 county championship. 65 for Somerset v Lancashire when Patterson played, in the 1985 county championship. 60 for Leeward Islands v Jamaica when Walsh and Patterson were both playing, in the 1986 Geddes Trophy final. 68 for Leeward Islands v Jamaica when Walsh and Patterson were both playing, in the 1991 Geddes Grant Shield final. 112 for Leeward Islands v Jamaica when both Patterson and Walsh played, in the 1991 Red Stripe Cup. Patrick Patterson was at his peak in 1985 and 1986. Viv Richards scores batting as an opener in the last two test matches of the 1975/76 test series between West Indies and Australia when Lillee and Thomson played as follows: 101, 30, 50, 98. That is 279 runs at a batting average of 69.75. Viv Richards scored 74 in the only odi of the 1975/76 West Indian tour of Australia. Lillee, Gilmour, Walker and Mallett were Australia's bowlers in this odi. Viv Richards score of 74 was the top score of the match.
@@frederickparillon7722 Yes. You are right. Viv Richards centuries v West Indian bowlers when they played against him: 3 centuries v Michael Holding. 2 centuries v Malcolm Marshall. 2 centuries v Sylvester Clarke. 2 centuries v Patrick Patterson. 1 century v Curtly Ambrose. 1 double century v Andy Roberts. 1 century v Joel Garner. 1 century v Colin Croft. 1 century v Wayne Daniel. 1 century v Ian Bishop. 1 century v Courtney Walsh. 1 century v Tony Gray. 1 century v Ezra Moseley. 1 century v Gary Sobers. 1 century v Lance Gibbs. 1 century v Winston Davis. Love you Windies..! We Sri Lanka had a team like your's (at least in batting) in late 1990s but sadly we've lost it all... I hope Windies cricket will be back and I hope I will see another hero like Viv in my life time again...!
If the wi four prongs pace bowlers was around now, they would have gotten plenty of beating. From the two very first world cup they won in 1975/79, and went to the final in 1983 against India and lots. The wi team never past first round in a couple of world cups, not before Lara won the world championship in 2004 or 2005 against England.Since that time the wi team have played better than the previous teams, they have reached several semi finals, and finals which they won two more championships. The older players is blaming these younger generation about their losses, but they weren't any better.Away from the Clive Lloyd eras also decades, and he passed it on to Richards, also he passed it off to Richardson. That is where the whole team started to tumbling down, the team went back to the worthless ways like the day's from Worrell,Sobers,Kahni, even before them the team was no good. They useto have a few individuals players yes where you could give some credit to,but the team overall was no good based on their records.I heard Ambrose, Bishop, Richardson running off their mouths, and a couple of past players. They are blaming these younger players for the downfall of the WI cricket, they forgotten. That is them who mashed up the wi cricket when Australia beaten them at Sabina Park,in 1994 by the Waughs brothers. To took away the world titles from them, from such time the wi team is struggling to maintained a competitive side. But because of the poor selection of the team causing more problems, it is very hard for them. To come out of the dungle heaps, because of a very poor selection is hurting the team over the years. What is really the problems as of late just like what useto happened back then, that certain individuals country like Barbados.Still believes that they are the better players in the region just like in the days of Sobers, I know that of a fact. They are not even the regional champion, but still the team is packed with mostly pure Barbados players. That is where the main problems is,if one country believes that they can play to themselves as a test nation. Why we have to still calling our selves the wi team, when is only one country is getting all the benefits from it,and still loosing. It is full time everybody should go on their own, and still plays against each in the regional champion.Just like India ,Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, they were one team, and they split up into 4 teams and. Still played against each other in their domestic cricket competition, just like the other sports in the region.Every countries go on their own, and we still playing against each other during the regional competition.I know there or several people is going to disagrees with me,but it is up to individuals to what he or she believes in.Because over the years since I was born I observed that, there is no unity between the regional people. This is nothing new I have met a few verbal abuses from some of the regional people, because I out line my thoughts. So I have face a few of them, more time.
Saurabh gupta I guess you maybe too young to know what am talking about back in the days, when England, also Australia useto beaten the WI team like baby.I and Greenidge, Haynes, Holding, Garner, Roberts, Richards, and a few more players are into the same age group.Am even older than Haynes, Marshall, Ambrose,Walsh,Dujon, Bishop, Richardson,I was listening to the WI back from Frank Worrell in 1961, when the series drawn. The best time for the WI team is in 1976 after returning from Australia from their 1975/76 series, when Australia gave them 5/1, and. They went to England, and gave them 4/0 that is where the WI dominance started,I watched all those games. The UA-cam is one of the best inventions they ever comes up with, because you go back the 1961 series, and watched it to see what happens. All the games that the WI vs Aus played in the 1975/76 series, you can watch it over, and over if you have the time. The main problems over the last 56 years since I could understand what is cricket,it is poor selection of players. So don't blamed the younger players too much, because the older players left the game in totally disarray. But since the falls of WI cricket in 1994, the younger generation have won 3 world championships, and reached several semi finals, also finals.Which after Lloyd left the captaincy , and Richards took over down to Richardson. They never passed the very first rounds, the records is there to prove what am saying.Whatever I say anyone wants to challenged my records, they are free to do so.
Gavaskar said that viv richards would get out only when he got bored. Richards could party all night and next day could just get into the ground to score a hundered. Sir Viv was a natural rare talent . A genius .

God I loved this. Please let’s have a side like this back in cricket. They did this with grace, poise, professionalism and joy. One love x
We need a team like that today! Sir Viv and the 'FEARSOME FOUR' were the final frontier for all teams in the 70s and 80s. What a bunch of individuals! Golden era!
Viv Richards, Best batsman ever! fearless, effortless, grace personified,
no one any batsman is greater than si vivian ritchars in the cricketing world. sir vivan is all time great
Sir Viv Richards, will always remain one of the Greatest bat's man in Cricketing History!
True & true for ever...
I grew up watching you guys. As i watch you ,i feel young again. I Want Windies back in 90es era. Love from Pakistan
In Pakistan, we call this WI team "Kali Aandhi" meaning "Dark Storm".
So racist yet so truly funny
@@phoenixgamer318 Its a compliment.
Wow. What a fight.. the loudmouth Aussies pisses off when they get the proper reply 😂.. As always 😂.. Hats off to this West Indies team 🙌
Yaa mate 😉😎
To be fair they smashed every team in that golden era of the 80's - no team could withstand the brutal physical and mental intimidation of the Windies 4 amazing quicks.
@@warrenharrison5052 and since 2000 it has been Australia dominating everyone.

Very special sir Viv ❤️. Love this kind of aggressive cricket 🏏.
Come on west Indies where is that passion gone 😡
All these so called greats ran out of this series to play world series, now they talk about the youngsters don't have passion to play for windies

I have never seen a fantastic brave batsman like Sir. Viv Richard. A true legend
That was vintage stuff. Real classic
There is no greater pleasure in life than seeing an Australian cricketer rolling around in agony crying for his mother
Sir Viv Richards the best of all batsmen
Whenever I know Viv was batting on live tv, I would sit back and enjoy the mastery
Wow ! That's badass ! What's more badass ? Little Sunny Gavaskar scored 14 of his 34 Test hundreds at an avg of 70+ against these fast bowlers without an effing helmet !!!
Chandra M Rai he was great
That’s why I rate him as India’s greatest batsman
Can u show me a clip where he is batting against the westindians fast bowlers without a helmet
My memory of these times is that the Australian public loved the West Indian cricket team almost as much as we loved the Australian.
Wow! Champions stuff by WI team. Sir Viv Richards as fearless as always. The quickies giving it back to the loudmouth Aussies. The Aussies had put their mouth in the wrong den :D
Kushagra Gaur ..I too was about to say the same thing
Kushagra Gaur
Manish Pandey is way much better batsman than Viv Richards. Watch this innings of Manish Pandey which Viv Richards can never play.

Ummm Mr.Flash! It happens....in psychological illness which relates to childhood complexities .it further creates hallucinations, like ur having! See a good doctor if u have some currency or may be u would passed away in madness at an asylum.
That West Indian Dream team of the 70s and 80s was from another planet. I fell in love with the game watching them in action....they were an unstoppable force, a Juggernaut! And Viv was the jewel in their crown. Never before, never again! The Greatest ever team in cricket and one of the greatest in any team sport!
West Indies 1977 to 1990 were on top
What a team that was!! Absolute giants of cricket, then and forever.
"four men we let lose on them"!what an epic dialogue.
And ya I agree with you
What a team you guys had 90s-late 2000s.
My fav bowler - Bret Lee
Have a great day bro
🥂 cheers.
Don't u know the 4 horseman were blindly following Kerry packer's money & quit in the middle of Test series
Sir Vivian Richards - the coolest man in the history of sport bar none! And obviously also one of the toughest.
Always pleasing to Aussies in discomfort.

Sir Viv ....! Everything comes out of his mouth, is a Bloody Dialogue!!!🤩
No one can mess with that Windies team. And, Vivian Richards was a gangsta at that time.
Sir Viv had the attitude of a Conqueror,, Not only was he a great cricketer, He was a great person, A fighter.. A Champion
Sir vivian Richard
sir? was he knighted by the queen or?
Sir he is. A legend. He was knighted in people's hearts.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 good one. By WI
By this time, almost every batsman was wearing a helmet. Just to see Viv chewing gum, wearing a cap, and hooking Hogg is marvelous and kinda insane at the same time.
Full credit to the players of that era..that was some serious cricket...
wow, i got goosebumps watching this... the true gods of the game...
Windies are real world champions with out sledging

I watched every minute of that test series. It was cricket at it's absolute best. Our maid was Rodney Hogg's old teacher and she kept telling me how naughty he was at school!
I am die hard fan of 1980's No.1 West Indies team. All players were world-class and very sporty. And Sir Vivian Richards is my favourite player. His batting, attitude, personality and his voice all very very special.
look at richards physique, all muscle and very intimidating, he could hit 6s at will and against anyone. greenidge, haynes all were strong lads and very intimidating and then they had the barrage of fast bowlers who would bowl continuously at your rib cage, no where to hide.
Wow, What a player...Sir Viv Richards....No helmet...Just enjoyed his game and loved performing against the Englishment and Aussies...one of my favourite players..
These were best years of cricket..
West Indies r legend....
These were the best years of sport in general. Especially cricket.
Salute to Sir Viv Richards.
That west indies team looks scary even to watch...can't even imagine how the other teams faced them..
This is the mentality we need to have again
Cricket back then was no less than a battle. These days it's just money and marketing than the game itself.
Viv Richards, never seen him play but must me heck of a players. His gaze and voice is still intimidatory!!!!!
As My Father Always Describes, You Can Put Sachin, Gavaskar, Border, Ponting Etc and many more as great batsmen, they truly are;
But Nobody Had the Swag Like Ivan Vivian Richards, Simply Not.

Wow... the killer instinct which sir vivian Richards had when he got hurt with the first ball was just amazing and looks like a Lion is hungry to with its fists open.... hats off to you sir... u r still a gem...

Spot on mate. Couldn't agree more. It's just not the same.
Really good documentary, and a great WI teams, lions in the true sense of the word, epitomised by the great Viv Richards, "the only way I'm not here is if I get knocked out!"

Playwinner P I wont mind taking your words as the better tribute to the legend 😌👍
Viv must have been such a plaeasure to watch what a guy. What a personality.
Viv Richards significant innings in matches when Patterson played against him:
120 for Somerset v Lancashire when Patterson played, in the 1985 county championship.
Viv Richards scores batting as an opener in the last two test matches of the 1975/76 test series between West Indies and Australia when Lillee and Thomson played as follows:
101, 30, 50, 98.
Viv did face them all in the shell shield competition..
Not all at once, but all in the year and different years.

It still amazes me that no one was dead at that era.
Agreed 🤣🤣
Blair Boyd where is windies lacking currently and how can it possibly recover or improve and mark themselve again as the heavyweights of cricket..
A genius .
