Feral mama Scotia comes home from the hospital and reunites with kittens!

- APR 25 2023: Scotia developed acute mastitis and a very high fever overnight, and her fever did not respond to the usual treatment protocol. She has been admitted to the specialty hospital for intensive care, and her kittens have moved into the incubator and are being fed every 2-4 hours (and doing well). Scotia is currently stable, although her temp remains high.
APR 19, 2023: Feral mama Scotia gave birth to five beautiful, healthy kittens, as well as two additional kittens who sadly had been miscarried earlier in her pregnancy.
APR 17, 2023: We lost Waggy this morning, despite our best efforts. We believe he suffered hypoxia (oxygen deprivation) during birth which caused damage to his organs that was not survivable. His life mattered.
Glorietta began to fade today as well. We suspect she is battling sepsis, and are doing everything possible to help her fight. Her temp has come down since starting treatment, but she remains in critical condition.
Wilder, Alice and Knickerbocker are looking good, but we are micro-monitoring them for any signs of trouble and are prepared to take immediate action.
UPDATE APR 15, 2023: Orinda gave birth for the last time on April 12th. Today we did an ultrasound and an exam to make sure she is doing ok, plus we ultrasounded her pregnant roommate, Scotia.
We've just unlocked a whole new level in cat rescue: Not only are our new mama cats very pregnant... they are also feral... and Orinda is blood type B... highly fearful... AND SHE HAS RINGWORM.
Her adorable friend Scotia is also very pregnant, feral, type A (whew!), missing an eye, and infested with LICE.
Why this is scary:
- Type B blood means Orinda's kittens will be at risk for a fatal condition called Neonatal Isoerythrolysis. This happens when a type B mom gives birth to type A kittens. Mom passes her anti-A antibodies to the kittens in her colostrum, and those antibodies kill the kittens' red blood cells. Thankfully, we have had a LOT of experience with this and have been able to save 100% of the kittens born in our care who would have died from NI. The protocol required to save them is definitely worth it, but it gets pretty tough when we're working with stressed feral mamas.
- Ringworm is not medically life threatening, but it is a big concern because it is a highly contagious zoonotic fungus. Kittens born to a mama with ringworm will certainly get ringworm, which requires strict treatment and isolation protocols, a lot of expense, and extra time to treat. The medications we would normally use aren't safe for pregnancy, nursing or young kittens, so we will have to do our best using other methods.

Poor Scotia. If only people would spay and neuter their cats a lot of the suffering would be avoided. Scotia's one of the lucky ones. She was rescued in the nick of time and I hope she starts to trust humans and finds a loving home. She deserves to be loved and cared for. The kittens have grown so much and their eyes are open now. Little beauties all of them. I wish only the very best for them and thank you for what you do.
We all need to help promote cat adoption.
At least this is the last time she ever has to go through this. This could have been avoided if she had been spayed. Both of my girls are spayed and my future cats will be spayed and neutered if they aren’t already when I adopt them. I hope Scotia will turn in her feral card and find a loving home. I think she will since she seems to trust Shelly most of the time. I think now it’s because she hasn’t been feeling well she’s been holding on to her feral ways. So glad all 5 of her kittens are doing well and have adjusted to bottle feedings.
We adopted the skinniest, most pitiful little girl stray. Luckily she’d been spayed by her previous owner, so it could have been a very sad and different end to her story (we can pet her but not close a door to the outside, or pick her up - but she’s the sweetest girl, and we all have our baggage in life, we can’t help it)
@@blanketyblank604 thats what i try to do with this channel gemma is a adopted kitty been through hell an we saved her 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
@@LOLGemmaTheSuperKitty I adopted a black at stray kitten 7 years ago, he is still my boy, thats his name. I adopted him after my first black cat magic died, I had her about 8 years.
Timestamp @30:13 is when Shelly gives Scotia the kittens!!! I'm crying watching this. A true miracle - none of these beautiful creatures would be alive without the AMAZING staff at TinyKittens!
I know those vet bills must be very high, but we need to donate.
Hi. How will the kittens be fed. How did they treat Scotia
@@cherriebridgens8802 The kittens will be bottle fed. Scotia had some mammary abcesses that ruptured, as well as she had to be on antibiotics that aren't safe for the kittens.
@@Vocalinds oh no, poor girl! 😥 I'm so glad she is back and doing much better. 💖💖💖
I cried like a baby watching the reunion ❤
Mama Scotia frantically searching the room and then calming down once her babies were returned to her was amazing considering she was gone for a week from them. As I type this 2 hours later, she is still resting with them and hasn't left the nest ❤ You rock Shelly, thank you for all you do ❤
❤❤❤ Thank you so much for all that you do…..❤️❤️❤️
This poor little girl has been through the mill. But her life is going to get so much better from here. She's such a sweetheart.
How are the kittens able to feed?
Mama is on antibiotics that won’t let her feed the kittens. They will be bottle or tube fed
This poor baby probably wouldn't of made it outside. Kind of one of those miracles that save a life in need.
I am in love with this brave little mama!
I don't usually cry, but this totally made my night. Wasn't sure if she'd remember her babies or not. Scotia's been through soo much. Bless her sweet heart. Many, many thanks to All that have cared for Scotia & her babies! 💕
God made her special to her babies God bless zscoiia
Scotia looked around the room for the children, because after she got them, she calmed down and fell asleep. Such a good and caring mother, I was so afraid that she forgot her kittens...🥰🥰🥰
This made my night, I've been rooting for Scotia and little Scotias!
one of my first thoughts waking up was about Mama Scotia- this is great to have a separate video!!!! congratulations
What happened to Scotia?
@@beckyskotzke8596 She developed mastitis after giving birth, and it became life threatening. So she spent eight days at the vet, and this is what happened when she came back. Since then, she's been adopted along with one of her kittens, Hitch.
A happy and tearful tender reunion for me. Reunited and it feels so good, Scotia misses her troup❤
Welcome home Scotia!
Now, I don't need to keep rewinding! This is like the best ever. We couldn't have asked for any better. Having had my doubts, made it all the more beautiful and moving. I'm glad you have your friend back, Shelly
This was such a moving reunion. So much love in this feral cat.
Thank you for giving her the chance to live, for surly she would have died on her own, and for educating us.
Her babies are adorable, but humans alone are responsible for the rampant birth/suffering/death cycle created.
With all she went through over these days and weeks and months she took those babies right back. What a compassionate cat!
Spay and neuter people! Dogs and cats. Adopt or foster if you can.
Super Scotia, the bravest girl! I love her so much and she’s doing so well readjusting to being back. So many amazing humans helping her heal. ❤❤ Absolutely adorable kitten & Mama reunion too.
I also made a clip from this. It just broke my heart how Scotia was obviously looking for her babies in the room and it was so heartbreakingly wonderful to see her reunite with her babies and bathing them right away. She missed the little ones and they clearly missed her.
A Momma's Love Abounds! Pure Happiness . A Family once again!
Look how gentle she was eating from the fingers. I hope she has turned in her feral card.
So amazing to see Scotia and her babies together again! 🥰
I adore this little cat! How can one get attached long distance from 3,000 miles away in 3 weeks??? She is a real keeper. If I had a way to happily get her to the Southern USA, I would take this angel girl in a NY minute! This little girl is one in a billion.
The silver lining of this illness is that sometimes it's what helps cats realize that humans are okay. I think Shelly helping Chloe with mild mastitis is what helped her accept that most humans are safe.

Shelly: What an adventure you've had!
Scotia: *HISS* Not an adventure - it was a bloody NIGHTMARE!!
So glad she is home
It's wonderful she can see her babies! She trusts you. She knows she's safe and so are her babies. She's going to be such a sweet cat. That little white one looks like a little cotton ball. It's so sweet to see them all back together!
Wow...look how much better her eye looks today even though it wasn't what was being treated. Little Scotia, you have been so prayed over and though of in the last week. Glad to see you doing so well.
This was so special to watch last evening. Over 3200 viewers! Shelly was so surprised and emotional how successful the kitten reunion went and we were all feeling it too. We love Tinykittenshq ❤❤
Bravo Tiny Kittens! Without your help this precious cat and her kittens would have been lost. God bless you for all you do. ❤❤❤
❤ thank you, Shelly, for posting this! ❤️ Glad, Scotia is back from the e-vet.
So sweet, but I realized suddenly after watching this very emotional reunion; that every time Shelly says snack or opens a can, one of my cats starts begging for snacks. Lol
This was one of the best things ever. Scotia saved and home, then seeing and loving on her babies again.
So happy to see you home, Mama Scotia! I’ll bet you’re very happy that Head Angel Shelly and her team of Angels were there to take such great care of you. Gell 100% soon! We all love you so much! ❤️
As she's continuously wandering around, jumping on things ~> she's definitely looking for her kittens.
Just seeing how she settled when her babies were brought to her. Melting heart time. 🤧🥴🥰
You can see the relief when that cone comes off. Scotia's little hiss was more like "ya I hated that place too, good to be home"! Oh the kittens will just love that palm tree scratcher - love it! I have to say Scotia was walking very well in the weansie - most tend to fall over a lot in the beginning. So clear Scotia had been looking for her kittens, recognized them and was happy to get them back. Very happy reunion!
Everytime Shelly says "you want a snack?" I immediately need a snack! Good job momma!
Thank you Shelly and TinyKittens HQ for saving this family! Thank you for all you are doing!!!!
Ohhh. She looks so pretty in her little red devil suit. So happy she's feeling better! ❤😊
Scotia cc "Thanks for taking care of my babies!"
This was so beautiful to watch in real time🥲😭😭❤❤
Welcome back beautiful girl! ❤🐾💙
So very grateful for the amazing care provided by Shelly, BBV, and the whole TK crew. 🤎🖤🧡 Thankful for Scotia’s safe return to TK and her sweet babies. 🧡🤎🖤
It's so sweet how she was so happy to see her babies and care for them. Thanks for doing your "foster momma" part!❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What a precious reunion. I started crying when I saw her for the first time then when the kittens were with her, it was amazing. So precious and so sweet. Mommy has been through so much, bless her heart, she deserves so much. She is lucky to even be alive. Thank you vet team and tk for saving her. All lives are worth saving.
Being with her kittens again will help with the healing for mom & babies 😸
Es muy tierno ver a esta mama y el amor que recibe de esta dama que la ama de verdad y a sus hijitos, esperemos que todos tengan buena vida. Ademas es una belleza de gatita.💖
Wonderful to see Scotia back to TKs (home) and greeting her babies with a clean. Love her, she has been through so much. This little family would not have survived without TKs coming into their life ❤❤🥹🥹❤️❤️
This poor kitty has been through so much! I hope maybe out of all of this, she's decided that humans can be trusted because they helped her, and she can give up her feral card. She deserves to be pampered and loved.
31:28 You said it for me. What a rollercoaster this has been for the kitties and everyone, I'm just so thankful for the tireless work of TK and the emergency vet for keeping this family along with Orinda and her bunch alive ❤
I could watch this over and over a billion times and ugly cry every time like it was my first time watching it. Shelly explaining to her that there were no expectations and then Scotia accepting them like no time had passed…she is an amazing Mama and a true miracle.♥️ Thanks to all who made this miracle happen!!!
My heart! Seeing Scotia reunited with her babies and greeting them with a bath is so precious. So glad she's back.
Amazing... So happy for this sweetheart

Welcome back little sweetie! I've missed seeing your little face. You'll be ok, honey. ❤😘
Still makes me weep happy tears, even 2 months later.❤
Mama 💕
Wonderful news, to see beautiful Scotia back with her kittens❤️❤️❤️
I am SO happy Scotia is back at Tiny Kittens!
Kudos, Miss Scotia!! Thank you, Shelley, for saving this family!!!!
I loved watching Shelly and Scotia together. I think those early days when Shelly was scratching the very itchy momma-to-be, and she would talk to her about different things, helped make Scotia feel more comfortable physically and mentally. And as you can see in the video, Shelly really loves her. (I do, too. Scotia is my favorite momma.) 🥰
I was glad Shelly was able to bring the kittens over so quickly, since Scotia was obviously searching everywhere for them, and even killed the camera to alert us that something was wrong. The most touching thing to me was that the kittens' eyes have opened while she was away, and even though they probably can't see very well yet, they were still seeing their mama for the first time. 🥲
Happy tears! The bestest video right now before Mothers' Day!
A mother and childs bond is like no other. No matter human or animal. She knew that was her babies and they knew she was momma. This is so precious ❤ 🙏 and thankful everyone is doing great😊 thank you all for what you do
Welcome home mama Scotia ❤ you’re such a brave girl! I do think she was definitely looking for her kittens, especially when Shelly brought them in to her. Her body relaxed immediately when she had them all ❤️ Thank you Shelly and Tiny Kittens for taking such great care of her babies while mama was healing. It was a beautiful precious reunion ❤️ mom and babies look so happy and content to be together again ❤️
PLEASE SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR CATS AND DOGS!!
Poor baby. At least she will get better.
I do love their names. It's adorable. 💕🐈⬛
Scotia!
Shelly I'm ugly-crying.
I am so sad this lil mama had to go through this critical illness and it breaks my heart there she can't nurse her last litter. And saddens me for the babies too as it is such an important bond. They are so lucky to have their mama back with them and I am so so glad the reuniting went great for both mama a d babies. Great job TK! You all are such a Godsend to His beautiful creations! May He bless you all and provide all your needs to continue to care for these precious ones.
So heartwarming to see this reunion, I hope she continues to get better and have good health and the happy loving life she so deserves, and her kittens too,,, she's so sweet,,and they are so beautifu.
Watching this brave kitty with her sweet babies...and the amazingly kind human helping her brings tears to my eyes!💝thankyou

Thank you for the amazing job you do saving these cats❤❤❤❤
I am so happy to see her again and that she's is feeling so much better & see doing so well. It was so encouraging to see her eat, use the litter box & go exploring. Poor thing as been through so much, but in spite of it all, she is a trooper! She was so happy to see her babies again.
It was so nice to see Shelly again, too and so glad she is going better.

I'm not crying i swear! Welcome home baby girl.
Sweet girl & her babies.❤🥰🥰 Hope they find a good forever home.❤❤
She's beautiful. Prayers for her for a full speedy recovery
Hello Precious Momma Scotia ❤️🙌🏻So glad she’s home with her Babies👏🏻💞
What a beautiful mom who loves her babies
I love this. I am so happy she is ok. She was at the vet for sooo long; I thought that she did not make it as after a week the vet bill would be so very expensive and high; I was afraid that she did not make it. I am so happy that I was wrong.
My husband & I adopted 2 wild 3 wild kittens within a few months apart they showed up @ our house. We took care of them & saw they've had everything done that they should & they are very happy.❤
Adorable kitties
If animals do have more complex thoughts then we believe, I wonder if while gone Scotia just assumed her babies were gone since she wasn't there to care for them.
thanks for taking great careof her, she's such a doll and fighter, what a great momma she is too, hope she continues on her progress
Omg 🎉they are SUPER DUPER CUTE ❤❤❤❤
I was afraid that Scotia would be extremely spiteful/spiceful when coming back at TK. She has only known pain and fear being at TK through no fault at TK. Her response of accepting scritches and her babies is a true miracle.
Thank you for your care and compassion ❤️
This is so emotional and so beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤ thank you for all that you do!!! ❤❤❤
So happy you guys can care for them! She is such a good cat. I'm glad she is doing better. What a strong mama
