Grieving rescue cat Goldie gets snuggles from fire fighter and it is magical

- Goldie's human was unhoused, and had a difficult life. For the last few years, we tried to support him as best we could, by providing food, medical care, and even taking his cats in for several months while he was in the hospital. We spent hours listening to his many stories about life, and about how much he loved his cats.
When he stopped responding to our calls a few weeks ago, we became concerned and sadly discovered he had passed away.
We didn't know if anyone knew about the cats living inside of the broken-down van he called home, and were so worried. Thankfully, we found out that a very kind person had immediately opened up the van and let them outside so they weren't trapped inside, and took over feeding them. We were so relieved, but desperately wanted to find them and give them a chance to experience happy, healthy, safe lives with new families.
We set up cams, and have spotted Goldie and Tiny Tina, two of the three cats. We've heard Lucky Luke has been spotted in the area, but haven't seen him yet and will keep trying.
These guys have been through a lot in their life, and now it's time for them to have a fresh start.

SEP 21, 2023: Feral mama Hibbing gave birth for the last time this morning, to four beautiful kittens! She gave birth in the litter box, which was not the plan we had discussed with her, but she did a great job anyway.

APR 28, 2023: As feared, Orinda's kittens got ringworm from her at just 16 days old. We had to relocate the whole family, and begin an intensive containment protocol. They are too little for oral meds, so the only thing we can do for now is a lot of cleaning, spot treating their lesions, and keeping minimal clutter in the room to reduce contamination.
Please be patient with us, as this is a very time, labor and money intensive disease that requires significantly more work off cam than you are seeing on cam in their room. For now, we have to limit visits, so we won't be able to just run in there and fix things for the sake of our viewers, like we usually do. This too shall pass! The important thing is that mom and babies will have full recoveries, we just need to keep putting in the time and effort and doing the work to get them there.

That is beautiful sentiment but I cannot be kind to cruel people. People that are cruel to animals, nature and vulnerable people. Never ever will I be kind to them as they don't deserve kindness. They deserve punishment.
You can tell how well loved Goldie was before his human had to leave him. TK's snugglers will help to heal his heart, and though it might take a while, TK will find him a stable home where he'll get all the sweet snuggles he deserves! 🥰

Mr. Dave, Shelly, and the team, I am 62 years old, we have the honor to taking care of cats adopted from Shelter for past 25 years, the first one past she was 17 years old. Where able to hold for three monts without, (difficult time), then adopted 2 ladies😅. They're the directors and queens of the household. Goldie will take a few days to get adjusted. I rescued a traumatized cat like him once. He was slinking around like that, too. Now he wraps himself around my head at night.
Five minutes in and I have tears in my eyes and I can't even count how many times I've said, "Aw!" Dave's masculine voice really seemed to be soothing for Goldie.
Aw, if anyone can make a sad, scared kitty feel better, it’s Dave. I hope Goldie starts feeling better and finds a wonderful new home when he’s ready. He looks like a love bug. ❤️

I was thinking the same thing. Growing up, we had a cat that liked all of the family, but was happiest with Dad, who had a very soft, deep tone of voice.

I've known so many cats that were afraid of men (mine are, because the only men who come in my house are doing work and make noise). Goldie is so used to having predominantly, perhaps exclusively, interaction with men that he finds Unka Dave more comforting than even the gentle ladies who do most of his care. I hope you can find a man to adopt and treasure him. He's a sweet, gentle dolly-boy of a cat.

Dave's "not allowed" any more cats per Shelly, right now last I'd heard. He's away a lot and she would have to help care for them, she's already got a few high need cats as permanent residents like Auracuda and Puffs.

Poor baby 😢 Just read the story, what you all did for that man was wonderful, I wish more people were so kind and concerned about elderly people who live alone and basically have no one to help them. These poor kitties were with him for some time so probably understand what happened, I’m so sad for them but glad they were rescued by your wonderful organization. I hope they all find loving homes again and may their former owner RIP.
You can tell Goldie is still confused, doing such a good job of being strong and brave, poor little fellas. I can't believe we are starting to normalize our friends and family sleeping in a van with kids or fur babies? It is unfortunately happening everywhere, and many of us are just one or two crisis's away for being there ourselves. Oh, how Goldie must miss his cat-dad. He just melted into Dave's arms. Goldie (and his sibs) must have known such love to be such a sweet cat. Don't worry, Goldie, TK is the best place to make kitty's lives the best they can be. You'll find your next human servant soon.
The way Goldie just absolutely *melts* into Unka Dave's arms and lap is just heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. I can't begin to imagine how much Goldie misses his human, nor how much this time with Dave comforted him. The looks he gave the camera once he settled into Dave's lap and arms said it all: "This human comforts me. I want him as mine."
And people think cats are aloof and uncaring. Pah. One look at Goldie disproves that quickly. He is clearly grieving his human and seeking comfort, which Dave is providing.
The most heartbreaking time I ever had at a pound was when I walked into the kitty room....every cat in there began BEGGING for just ONE finger scratch!😢❤️

@@nibs8837 aww thx! I had shoulder surgery Thursday and a badly hurt big toe on the same side of the body 😹 between my healing and my cats it’s been rough. They love to crawl all over the shoulder that was worked on so I’ve had to put buffers in or keep them out if it looks like they aren’t going to settle down. They get my hubby’s attn if they can’t with me tho! Hoping soon no pain so they can come romp with me some more!
My cats always wanted to lay on whatever part of me was hurting the most. Now I’d give anything to have that again. I hope your shoulder and toe heals quickly!! It stinks when you don’t feel well and are in pain. Take care and wising you a much better day tomorrow.

I hope Goldie's pals are brought in soon. That might help him feel better. Cats can be amazingly resilient, but they feel like we do. I do really hope someone can adopt these three together once they're all found.

I can't help think one of the things Goldie is getting used to is a lot more open space in an indoor area. An old van is not that big, so this room is probably cavernous.
