    I'm happy to own a 2007 ford E-450 6.8L V-10 cab and chassis dually...
    I use it to pull rv's and goosenecks..
    I've only had to replace the PCM computer...
    My brother has a 2024 ford with 33k miles and it's at the dealership for the second time for transmission issues...

    A deep trans pan that is larger, holds more fluid, and a extra trans cooler in addition to the on board one, will keep the fluid cool and get you more life, I agree on the drain plug in the pan. Remember the filter changes regularly..

    On the tires, if they are the 50k miles life and up, the harder the compound in the tires, the higher mileage tires roll easier since they wear slower, hence better mileage due to lower rolling resistance. Check the compound of the tire, the softer the tire the better the grip.

    I am a Hot Shotter, and I do my regular maintenance such as oil and filter and fuel filters, as well as trans fluid and filter on my 34 hour reset Get yourself a PPE transmission pan which has a drain on it. It’ll make the trans fluid changes super easy to do at a truckstop on your reset dispose of the fluids on the road at any auto parts store.

    I would stick with what you got. Dodges have their own issues and the Fords as well all linked to EGR etc. Have the oil changed often not at 10,000 miles like they suggest crap. Considering you are hauling empty stock campers you shouldn't have had quite so much trouble.

    Unfortunately all the new vehicles by all brands are garbage. The big 3 are all having major issues. "Go buy a Ford"...right...lol my nephew works at a Ford dealership and tells me they are have lots of trucks with transmission issues. My Ford work van has been at the dealership for 2 months now with only 300 miles on it. Problem with the abs and they cant figure out what the problem is. Even the new Toyota trucks are having issues. You can thank the government for all these mandates they are putting on these companies. Making these vehicles so much more complicated than before while they have to stay competitive so they are cutting corners too. Good luck guys. Hopefully it works out for the better.

    I am on my 3rd Dodge/Ram diesel since 1999. 1999 Dodge - 2500 4x4 AT, 2005 Dodge - 3500 dually 4x4 with HO 5.9 AT and current 2017 Ram 3500 dually 4x4 Limited, HO 6.7, aisin trans. The 1999, traded at 251K miles, 2005 traded at 207k miles. Both of those models were bashed for having "junk" transmissions. Both trucks were used to tow a lot and heavy, both running a towing like a champ the day I traded them. Neither truck had engine or trans issues even though I used them hard and most of their life with me was towing. But this was my service schedule even though the service guys told me it was "overkill". I changed the fuel filter at every oil change. At every oil change I alternated, one oil change I would get front/rear diffs and transfer case serviced, next oil change I got the transmission serviced, then repeat at every oil change service. My current 2017 3500, I have similar service done on it even though I never tow heavy, just tow a 24' boat. Overkill? Maybe. Maybe not!

    Yes transmission habe a break in period. At 3k miles fluid and filter should be changed. Then every 25k miles after that. Heat destroys transmissions. Until you are out of warranty you are most likely stuck with the cooler it has. After the warranty have a better cooler ready to install. Then keep to the regiment.
    Your warranty is the 25k you have left. Its how it is. Its always been that way. I understand what you are saying new part equals new warranty. If that was the case there would be people doing things to cause issues just to continue to get the new motors/trans/parts.
    Good luck. Unfortunately these new vehicles are just junk. Your truck has probably 20 or more seperate modules. They have made it next to impossible for the average person to work in these things without having a $8k scanner that costs $2500 a year to update. Personally I'd spend the money buying and restoring a pre 07 truck.

    GM, like most of the automakers, couldn’t care less about the end user. That new transmission will only be covered for the length of the original power train warranty. I have been a diehard GM guy for decades but have noticed the absolute decline in care and “latitude” previously enjoyed for the benefit of their customers. There was a time dealerships and GM regional representatives worked to maintain a long term customer relationships. Especially when common sense could be employed. Not anymore!….I also got an insulating offer for “points” following DEF system failure on my duramax. Hidden in the fine print, not every component is covered despite the emissions warranty headline. When I got the final bill, had to pay it. Expressed my disappointment and went nowhere. My “escalation” also resulted in their point offer. In the end, for me, felt better to telling them off”nicely” while declining the points. Keep it…..super happy for you guys they replaced the transmission. Best possible outcome but I fear you will have future problems. That 10speed is very problematic and simply can’t stand up to using that truck, as intended. While I can’t prove it, when these engineers design this stuff, what non-commercial users expect/use their trucks for influences the choices made for construction. Blows my mind how many guys buy HD trucks and never actually “work them”.

    Should put a cooler on the truck and don't put it through the radiator do not leave the transmission hook to the radiator to transmission will run the same temperature as your engine running at which is over 200 degrees nowadays a cool transmission is a happy transmission and probably will last forever the only heat a transmission generates is the heat from the torque converter at 100,000 I hope you're going to keep that truck for 20 years 100 grand for a truck that's ridiculous especially a pickup truck

  • @texasaggieproud
    @texasaggieproud 21 день тому +1

    IMO, GM took care of you. It was under warranty, and that is what a warranty is for. I would rather it be a transmission than a body issue, such as paint flaking off or anything cosmetic. Things that are cosmetic are never really replicated well from a dealer versus when they start at the factory.

    • @TheRiverstoneLife
      @TheRiverstoneLife  16 днів тому

      IMO, I would have preferred body issues over transmission issues - at least with body issues the truck is drivable and I wouldn't have lost 6.5 weeks of income. Regardless, no one should have to deal with these issues considering the price tag of this truck and being a 2023. So many people have the same problem - it's a known issue and GM is getting away with selling these trucks knowing that they will be broken down. If they were doing their job correctly they would have the part available not a waiting game on when the part will be available - if at all. Thanks for commenting.

    New vehicles today are trash all brands you get trashy new parts from the parts stores it don't matter what it is they make everything today crap buy a washing machine and dryer today or a refrigerator in 2 years you'll be buying it again unlike the old stuff that would last 10 15 20 years even longer some of them
