  • The Barberini Palace in Rome, Italy, was built for Pope Urban VIII (Maffeo Barberini) in the first half of the 17th century. Three stellar architects contributed to its design - Carlo Maderno, Francesco Borromini, and Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Today, the palace is the “National Gallery of Ancient Art” and contains paintings by Raphael (“La Fornarina”), Pietro da Cortona, and Caravaggio (“Judith Beheading Holofernes”)!

Good advice, this is by far one of the finest museums in Rome, which houses great masterpieces but which is also a work of art in itself, because the palace is a true gem of the baroque art.
