- Hi guys! Welcome episode 16 (redo) of Learn That Solo! Today we’ll look at the solo in ‘Domination’ by Pantera.
Tuning: E A D G B E (Standard)
2012 Chris gave this a shot but failed on a small level. With no access to a time machine 2015 Chris decided to redo this lesson like a boss. Enjoy the hilarious stretches, fast shreds and redonkulous amounts of whammy action that Mr. Dimebag was so greatly remembered for!

dude i cant thank you enough for this tutorial i have learned so much from you're videos they have helped me so much with my playing and learning some of my favorite solos. thank you so much for the tip about moving the thumb up to the 15th fret once i did that it helped with the stretch so much. you are a good man dimebag would be proud of all the future shredders you are helping out there with you're videos \m/

I second this comment. Excellent advice I never heard anywhere before. This is the secret behind stretches. And we all thought we just had smaller hands lol. Any tips for moving the thumb down the neck easily? Mine tends to get anchored and lags behind as I got up the fretboard, mostly because I am playing sitting down and using my hand to support some of the weight of the guitar. You don't seem to have the same issue while sitting down.

chris, when I discovered you on youtube about a year ago it revolutionized my guitar playing and I cant thank you enough for all that you have helped me learn that without your style of teaching I probably couldn't learn never stop shredding, never stop teaching. p.s. could you make something on the first minute&1/2 or so of Yngwie Malmsteen's Far Beyond the Sun it would help immensely

hey dude great video really helped me, i was wondering do you know the radius of the neck on your guitar? becaude i have a prs 245 standard and when i bend the string frets out and cuts off the note, does this happen to you? i found on the internet that is a 10'' radius but i cant be sure

Caerwyn Deathwhisp well it looks like the song only goes up to fret 22, so that should be fine. if you don't have the whammy bar, it's not gonna kill the whole rest of it, it's just gonna be kinda boring I think. unless you get creative and fill the whammy bits with something else
Caerwyn Deathwhisp To be honest..It would be better if you had a PRS Or an ESP for that solo,I mean this guitars makes you fly dude,Les paul are good guitars but more comfortable on rhythm
Those stretches on a les paul would be painful dude. I suggest getting a cheap shred guitar if you want to play an instrument more contextual to the genre

I can kinda play it but i cant stretch my fingers enough to play the legato parts lmao
Try playing with the guitar in classical position. It allows your wrist to open up more and your fingers usually can reach 2-4 more frets. Also i would recommend warming up your hands with some stretches. John Petrucci has some really good stretches to warmup that made these stretches easy. Hope this helps.

Try to put your thumb finger behind the high e string. Like a classical guitar technique. Is more easy now
section 2 of this video sounds different (legado part)... The old one was good..u shouldnt have removed..

The thing I love about Dime’s playing is that he has such a smooth transition from legato to picked notes, which coincidentally enough gives me the most trouble when learning any of his solos lmao

your playing it wrong your missing the double stops and lot of your phrases are incorrect as well. i mean its good if you want to fake your way through the song. the double stops are the hardest part and i usually fake my way through it too.
Dude I hate to point this out but your tab is incorrect and doesn't match the tutorial on the last run where you play 5th string 9 -10-12 twice. Instead, the tab shows the 10-12-14 played twice. I assume you playing is the correct way and the tab is wrong. I am sure that you are all excited about making this video a 3rd time now lol.
With the squeals you flick the string with your left hand and touch the harmonic that you want while simultaneously bombing the tremolo and then raising it to the pitch you want. Dimebag made a tutorial video and it’s on UA-cam

Hey man great lesson as always but i have a question im thinking about getting a new guitar and i have it narrowed down to a fender american standard strat and, a prs p22. I know u have a thing with prs but without any bias which one sounds better to you p.s i mainly play blues and 80s-90s.
I'm just sitting here trying to figure out how your guitar stays in tune with that tremolo setup with now locking nuts. Lol
