@@johnhualnam1081 I was playing guitar for about 12 years before I attempted this. I could have started sooner though. I just needed the time and motivation. It's been almost 2 years and I can play this in my sleep.
I feel like this a really good piece to practice all techniques, legato, sweep picking/economy picking and alternate picking. Just no tapping, but you could transpose it in a way that incoporates it. I love it
Finally someone who's in tune, for some reason you are the easiest to follow along, some people just click with certain teachings, thanks for posting this lesson. Great job.
Man,so great full to have came across your lessons,it's almost 2:00 a.m. here and I gotta work tomorrow, but when I get home I will finish this lesson, got the first part down, gonna finish when I get home from work tomorrow, thanks so much for your time, you are a great teacher, been playing myself for 30 plus years, and no one has ever made it this simple, subbed your channel, just amazed and great full.
Hey bro, just want to say thanks a lot for this lesson. I had a cassette recording of this when I was a kid -- I had no idea where it was from, I didn't know about the movie -- but it's one of the very first things that ever really blew my mind as a kid. Even that giggle at the beginning -- when I record my version of it, I'm going to do the giggle because that's a part of it for me. I was just a little kid when I had that tape, I'm in my 40s now. I just decided to give this piece to myself as a gift, for Christmas. My gift wouldn't be possible without your gift to all of us, so thanks so much man It's a great lesson and you're very pleasant in your way of teaching. THANKS.
I just wanted to say Thank You so Much! Finally someone did it right, a lesson with tabs and No background interruptions== You are an Awesome teacher!== I enjoy learning stuff like this but I need both the lesson and the tabs, so I can take my time and do a bar or two at a time, its just easier that way sometimes. Not everyone can just look at someone's fingers while they play and learn-(not me anyways). again Thanks!!!
Thanks Chris been wanting to learn this solo since the movie came out and with tabs will certainly help in learning this solo. It was on my bucket list:)
If I was a kid again learning from scratch it'd have been a different story. UA-cam and people like you are a godsend to aspiring guitarists. Another great vid :)
First off, this is exactly what I have searched for and wanted for years. Someone who plays it right (in my opinion) and Tabs it out! So thank you very much. But if you could do Butlers bag (movie version) too that would be greeeeeaaaat.
Chris! You never fail to come through with the OLDIES! This is another one that you just have to pick up your Gtar and give it a shot when you hear it. Great job, again.
Thanks for the lesson Chris. I love to such solos that are easy to practice with a metronome. No shenanigans like shifting amongst sixteenth, quarter and triplets.
I remember learning this from a Total Guitar magazine back in the 90's :) I decided to relearn it, but I only play a non-cutaway acoustic guitar nowadays (with 12 gauge strings). The arpeggios at the start are fine (I just pick all the notes) ..but its so depressing getting to the section up at the 15-17 frets :) and playing this phase at the bottom of the neck just doesn't have the 'gravitas' of the higher register. Still, I can do a 'sloppy' version at the top of the neck with my thump pivoting on the front of the acoustic (instead of the back of the neck). Makes people wince who see it though ..certainly needs more work. Or, I need a cutaway.
Guys.. for reals. Give Chris a break. It's a hot sticky day over there, but he still gave us a video with these conditions.. and that too a good video. Instead of immediately requesting him to play another solo and upload a video, give him a break and practice this solo and the other 194 solos he uploaded! You all do realize how much work goes into each solo, right (making the tabs, the amount of time to teach each section, and also for Chris to learn the solo)? By the way, Chris you are a fantastic player and teacher. Keep it up bro! Love your videos.
I feel like Malmsteen would suit each and every part of this piece perfectly. Everything is in his style. Would LOVE to see him do this, but as close to the original as absolutely possible. If he wanted, he could do it with relative ease! But yeah, know what you mean. Every single version on YT has something 'wrong' with it. It's the black belt of guitar
I have a request. could you please do a tutorial on the over hand or 8 finger tapping part in synyster gate's master class solo from guitar center? I've found tabs for it but they're terribly wrong. I just can't seem to figure it out even when I slow the video down to .20 . I'm sure you could figure it out tho

man. I 've been watching you for a long time and I think it would be great for you if you made a website, something like a vlog or something, uploaded your videos and just teach people how to play guitar. you know, scales and stuff. I believe, that would be the most useful thing on the internet.
You’ve definitely helped me nail this. Just need to speed it up a bit now 👍🏻 EDIT: I’ve been playing guitar for a year and a half, tried this for 2 months and I can play it in my sleep... I can go to about 130-150 bpm depending on how I feel. Man muscle memory is great.

thanks Chris...good video. You play it a little differently from the way I learnt it....but its interesting to see different techniques. Get the notes down isnt so difficult and playing it slowly isnt so difficult....a few weeks. Playing it to speed....well, I've been trying on and off for nearly 10 years :(

I wonder the same question. Maybe a chord that we do not see at the same moment in which he does the bending well taking out the harmonic. That or put the effect with the computer. The truth is that the movie sound the same as the first one the friend plays hear
Love your videos, thanks so much! I used to dabble, but I was never any good. I randomly got the itch to pick it up again, but I'd like to take it more seriously this time. Anyway, thanks again.
I hope everyone took note that when he has a really long jump up and down the fretboard he looks at where his hand should go, gets the position, and then looks to the next fret where his hand should go. A lot of people stare at every note they play and that will probably kill you trying some of this solo.
+Chris Zoupa (Learn That Solo) This isn't a negative comment by any means, I am just wondering why you chose to play certain parts the way you did and not the way Steve played them originally? Were you just choosing your own natural arpeggio shapes and preferences, or were you only relying on your ear/software and not consulting any other resources? By the way, the notes were correct, that's the main thing - just I find it fascinating when a guitarist does something different to another. It's the geek side of me.

I've learning from this for over a month now. This is a monster of song to learn and make a lesson of. Thank you
Wonder how many times Steve Vai had to record this before he got it clean in one take.
This part was fine. Its where he had to make a mistake that took many attempts.
Once
Took him one try
He did it cleanly the first try. The thing is, he needed multiple takes pretending to mess up
Vai stopped playing this. Said it was to hard. That section 3 drives me nuts
