The acoustic stuff Jesse just released is another level
Agreed 100%.
He’s an absolute force.
The industry is probably shaking in their stolen boots.
Reminds me of Shannon Hoon.
I wish I heard of this guy before today ..
Yes, I just watched War isn’t Murder, Cancer and Fentanyl, I like this too, Jesse’s where you been hiding. You’re gonna have so many fans, I have my ears open and my eyes on you!!
When tortured by society, some grow a hard shell and hide from the pain. Others develop strength and character then grow wings and fly.
Its better than bob dylan
It saddens me a guy with this much talent has been at it this long without some real recognition.
Dude it happens all the damn time. Thankfully the veil is lifting and those who seek the real real are finding it. All Father is with us all so be it.
We get to make up for it, now. Couldn't stop it if you wanted to.
There are a whole lot of us
We are the real recognition
I feel the same. Jesse Welles has legendary talent.
this is a good example of how damn hard it is for real talent to be recognized now days
It's easier than ever.
@@Mario-or8yq nope.
Right?? I don’t even use tik tok and it seems everyone’s calling him a TikTok artist. This guy is dripping with talent and it’s a damn shame I never heard of him or gone to a show
@@devourerofsnacks Sure it is. Think a bit.
However, it's always hard.
@@devourerofsnacks You used to have to find a way to get your demo tape in the hands of an executive, now youtube gives you a stage in front of the world. If you are good enough, you will be "discovered".
I got introduced through his incredible folk stuff, but damn... this rocks. I'm 58 years old and there not enough raw talent like jesse anymore.
I'm a 62 year old woman and I agree with you
41 and 💯
75 yr old here agrees with you and I am telling my world about Jesse
28 today and I concur.
Jesse is the real thing.
I haven't been so enthusiastic about new (for me) music in a while. I just love everything he does.
I see the recognition was long overdue
If Rolling Stone was relevant Jesse would be on the cover
Jesse has been around so long and I cannot believe that I just found him a few months ago. Absolutely love his writing.
what a fantastic rock scream. I already liked his voice but had no idea he could do that lol.
proof the music world of real talent is ignored by the machine
Can’t vote this up enough..
Payola..
✨
One of Jesse's lyrics calling it a "vending machine" sent me down a mental rabbit hole while driving earlier today.
and currently the business of music is upside down .
💯💯💯💯💯💯
They want to keep us zombies. It's 1000000x worse for hip-hop (rap wasn't always such garbage)
I'm 52 years old, and fan girling on this kid so hard
I'm nearly 73 and feel it too. . Thing is, I only recently discovered this earlier rock out material. having picked up on all (? )his acoustic songs of recent times. He is so telling it like it is, could be. Exposing all the nasty stuff but softening it with beautiful tender songs and gorgeous whistling too. How can one not be thrilled by this young man and his clarity and braveness . Go Jesse.! Arohanui from Aotearoa NZ. x
@janineturbitt2525 Hello, Janine! I just wanted to tell you that I admire the beauty of NZ & I hope & pray that before I leave this world I can visit & enjoy all the beautiful scenery in person.
God bless you & keep you safe 🫶
I’m 76 and in awe of Jesse. Some of his stuff approaches Dylan!
Wish I heard this (checks notes) 7 years ago.
Why YT slipped Fentanyl into my usual recommended of cats, crime interrogations and dance moms I will never know, but now I'm on a bender watching all I can find of my new obsession! Wahoo!!
hahah Fentanyl and then this also slipped into my feed wtf xD
Jesse Welles does a folksy country thing now, y’all should check it out. It’s also really good
Yo same here ahahah
it brings me a lot of joy seeing just how many people are here for the same reasons as me. lets get this dude recognized internetwide
Ultimate combination.. I know it well!!
Goddamn he was this good years ago? AND HE'S THIS GOOD ON ELECTRIC GUITAR WHILE SINGING???
At 22 or 23 in this video, it's sooo good, it's crazy
He is amazing.
Holy shit! this man is actually a genius
This is straight 70s sound....nice. How have I not heard this before 2024.
60 here this song Is amazing! I like this better or as much as his acoustic stuff
My God I just "discovered" him a minute ago on 12/23/24....What hole have I been living in? I just heard some of his acoustic stuff and incredible lyrics, and it sent me down a rabbit hole trying to hear more. I love, love, love his sound!
He's blowing up fast!
Same!
This is a phenomenon! I can’t think of any artist that I’ve been this blown away by.
@@neccowaif9I really am just in awe. The only one who has had this impact on me in recent years is Teddy Swims! Different genres, but same quality of amazing talent, imo
This is by far my favorite song of his, at least as far a sound goes. This song is incredible. It sounds like it's from the early 70's
dont know why yt decided to recommend me this 7 years later but i like it
I'm hearing you.
This is great music, and his acoustic in the bush
It’s cause he’s poppin on others socials rn.
Go check out his newer stuff. Great songwriter.
Same. Its so good.
the fact that its been 7 years since 2017 is so fucked
These guys should have been huge. Absolutely huge.
The sad fact is if you dont play ball with the puppeteers they will supress your fame, I know people that have refused them and their rising stardom immediately ended. Jesse doesn't strike me as the type that would play ball.
@@M_Hawkinsonunfortunately you never know. Many musicians appear genuine and then either sell out or they were never genuine in the first place because they were given to us by the industry/The Powers That Be. The past handful of years I just appreciate the music, don't really form solid opinions on musicians anymore. Been disappointed too many times.
The way he adds distortion to his voice is natural talent
'vibrato'
@@M0053yfate vibrato and distortion are not the same thing. He is utilizing both, but they are 2 distinct effects.
Ya how is this done?
@@adamsaffron6721 its his voice, literally a gift rather than a talent.
@@adamsaffron6721
Physically, "rasp" is when a voice produces two or more notes at once, so it's exponentially more difficult to control, and basically impossible to imitate. It's why they can re-cast Morty pretty seamlessly, but nobody's Rick Sanchez is going to sound like Justin Roiland's Rick Sanchez.
One way to make rasp is to think about setting up your breath support for a slightly lower and louder note than whatever note your vocal cords are trying to make. There are other ways, and some folks can do it the opposite way around and get rasp. Jesse Welles might actually be one of those folks.
Damn Man. It just gets better discovering this artist.
Stumbled across his acoustic stuff and recognized a real talent... now this!... very impressive!
Sameeee I need more of his band and solo stuff
I just heard the new stuff and I’m coming back to this… I’m now officially a fan🎉
Most people typically have transitioned from folk to rock but Jesse has successfully accomplished the reverse. He’s kind of an enigmatic songwriter and picker.
Damn the algorithm decided to show me this guys acoustic music which blew me away, I didn’t know he was at it this long
This guy is effen amazing. The fact that he's not a superstar says a lot about the music industry now.
So much killer music out there.
When I stumble onto it I'm so grateful to not be beholden to the machine.
(Killer hard rock band btw " the machine" 💡)
Ya somehow taylor swift with her 17 ghost writers is the BEST music these days….(according to the charts). The underground is where it is at . I just wish guys like this could make bank like the mainstream people do
This is frigging awesome!!!
I'm shocked at the quality of music this guy creates.
SO good.
Im here because of the incredible acoustic stuff, but fuck, I didnt expect this. Fantastic!
I love this shit man
The front man's new music is such a funky 180 into something really cool. Very Appalachian country.
Would you have a link?
@rob9340 Links tend not to work in YT comments anymore. It's just "Jesse Welles" on UA-cam. He has like 4 songs up, "Cancer" "Fetanyl" "War Isn't Murder" and "Olympics". I double checked his site and Wikipedia page and it's the same dude.
@@TheTrueUlfhednar Much appreciated.
Lots more songs on Instagram
Reminds me of John Prine.
I am a Lady from the Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, and Dylan era...I came here to say, Jesse Welles and his band are the REAL DEAL. Buy their albums, support them. At very least they should be playing big festivals. His acoustic work is also great. To any distribution cats involved, PAY THEM FOR THEIR ART.
Binge watching Welles. Awesome talent. Love the blue grass picking he's doing these days.
His voice is just sooo good. Reminds me of Kurt soooo much. ❤ if you like this guy, check out Austin Meade
Watching this again...just for that lion scream ... and the shredding ... and all the musicianship
Yesss! I'm back again. I started listening to Jesse about 6 months ago maybe more. I love his acoustic songs while standing in the middle of a field, but ever so often I feel the need to come back to this song. It's good! It's really good!
@MelanieWeed77 Same!
@@macadi63 🌟✌️🌟
I am literally giddy with how excited I am to have found this. Jesse is an absolute treasure, so so stoked to dive into this music and be a fan
gawd damn I love finding these unknown jewels
ua-cam.com/video/nyem3gD6XN8/v-deo.html Lead singer doing a folk song
Kudos to anyone who knew about this before war isn’t murder came out this man’s a legend
same here
Used to watch him at coffee shops in 2012.
The 4 5 beat pattern went hard as hell guys great job bravo
Big fan of the notes too with the forte screams great singer solo skills too ? Wow 🎉❤
Only one thing missing . Galloping double bass kicks on the down beat like The Rev from A7X . Simplicity goes a long way - just , a little something I miss in the world ; not like the new guy trying too hard if that makes sense . He did some kind of triplet snare thing that was so perfect & so heavy . Two kicks and a snare . Then a triplet after . Maybe even another snare inbetween but it was never too much extra or distractive
Reminds me of Asking Alexandria . Sounds awesome . I hope y’all continue . Y’all are great .
Boeing song brought me here & I’ve watched 5 times in a row
brother, weve been looking for you...
Whaaaat!!!! Fug Yes!!! Dude I thought his single shit was dope but wow! I don't know how i have not heard these cats Before? Killin it gentlemen....Killin it..
Saw them live in Milwaukee. They opened for Greta Van Fleet. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
Starting to make sense why I'm loving his work
do you have any record of the gig ?
That sounds like it was amazing!!!
Holy cow. This dude is the next big thing.
Not even close
@@cjkopp1185 Sadly you're right. Most people prefer generic shit like Taylor Swift.
He's not a normal youtube person. I wish there were more people like him.
Ok well I am old enough to be their parent BUT man it is unimaginably refreshing to hear something that sounds like actual music. Like from my old person bar era 😅👍
I landed here via is new stuff. OMG this guy is the real deal. This song feels like a memory. (I'm gen x.)
Nirvana vibes!!! Gen X here! 🙌
It's like hearing Blind Melon or Lenny Kravitz for the first time but sounding like the hundredth
Someone get this dude in the freaking studio now.
Has a full album out now. Also three albums with his old band Dead Indian.
that happened
He rocks🎉
He’s out in the woods now
I thought you was going to say barbershop 😂🤣
Wow !! What depth this adds to the new acoustic stuff - quadruples my respect for you Jessie , what an amazing voice you have !! Please continue any agitations ! Soul is more important than shred - this “old” electric stuff is amazing - keep rocking in the free world !! 🙏🌏✌️🎼🎶👏👏👏
hot dang! kick ass rock and roll! lettin that voice rip.... this guy is full of surprises. amazing range of skills!
Play this on repeat and it just keeps getting better!
Jeh-sea Welles is an absolute Badass! Seen him Live, and I was Blown away by his Guitar Skills. Love his vocals & songwriting style too. Watch him, boys and girls...Headed all the way up!
This guy is a tremendous talent. Huge! One thing though, I have to ask. The melody. It sounds a whole lot like the ending to Cry Baby Cry on the White Album by The Beatles. Is this intentional?
You may recall the melody to these lyrics from coda to Cry Baby Cry:
"Can you take me back where I came from?
Can you take me back?
Can you take me back where I came from?
Brahma, Can you take me back?"
jesse’s acoustic stuff is great but oh my lord this is amazing too
I like his rock singing (this poped up after i watched the solo bluegrass stuff on the Jesse Welles channel) hopefully this band catches some traction
I wouldn’t call that solo stuff bluegrass. lol… why bc it’s in woods w acoustic guitar? Lmao
@@yateswebbhe has a banjo rolling the heck out of that acoustic in the woods though, dont think its that misguided to reference it as bluegrass
Saw Welles live in Nashville. Love em. We will be seeing more from this up and comer. Jeh-sea Welles is totally a nice guy too. Don't lose that kid!
Just pure talent. Hope he stays real.
....got to be one of the finest three pieces I've heard
I remember my first day.
Wait a godam second.. I follow Welles on TikTok. This is that dude? Dang. Cool
ik right? most of his most recent stuff can be considered indie/folk, but most bands he was with in the past were rock
Just when I thought I gave up on music. Holy hell! So damn good!
United brought me here but I stayed for the incredible Paul Rodgers\Bad Company vibes ❤
I’m glad to see him blowing up extremely sad I had zero knowledge of his band before but now I think he should really start doing both he’s got a killer sound and writing style
His vocal range, wait, everything about this track gives me chills
This man is going to BLOW.
This is my new favorite band. Jesse is talented. I like his music.
This is some fantastic grunge rock!!
Finally, someone saying something in a song worth saying. Something called The Truth.
Man! What a breath of fresh Air!!!!!!😎
I am a huge fan of the Acoustic that he's now releasing. Modern Dylan!
Wow HOW DID I JUST FIND THIS?
No idea why I’m listening to this until now - he sounds like Shannon Hoon - what a nice tone
I was hoping someone else would notice this!! That was my first thought. He sounds so much like Shannon Hoon.
Those screams are so powerful
Jesse Welles - what a talent. Great drumming and bass here too!
I hear the melody from the little 'can you take me back where I belong' outtro from the Beatles Cry Baby Cry, which really fits in his tune nicely.
just discovered this guy hes beyond dope
wow, coming from the acoustic folk style to this, wow
this guy's phucking phenomenal.. motivational grunge feeling 🤜 🤛
100%. This guy is legendary for sure. Love the Led Zeppelin/Nirvana vibes.
Scary how stuff from 2017 looks old now
Man, he's label material, even now with the forest songs.
lol the forest songs.. Just came from there actually.
he was signed onto 300 entertainment at this time, so he was label material to the labels. but tbh this wouldnt ever get popular because it is uninspired unlike his new stuff.
wow this is amazing!
Look this guy up. Crazy talented.
What an incredible song. Someone sign him up!
I wouldn't recommend that. He should get his just due without having to hand 99% to a corporation.
@@666THEMARK666 he's being cherished organically, as he should be. Arkansas babies have been loving what he has to say for years now
this is amazing
Out- Fxxking-Standing !! Why am I just now hearing about this dude??!!
I was captured by his recent acoustic stuff, but this is amazing as well!
Wow, man this man is on another level
I could have discovered (tongue in cheek, my music tastes, I indulge on UA-cam should have had Jesse Welles in my recommendations years ago) this awesomeness earlier, but having binged at least eight songs of his with this one at least I can enjoy something fresh and new at a time when everything really seems like shit.
How have I never heard this yet!!!
2 guitars, drums, great lyrics, great voice. so basic. but so f**king awesome!!
The black sabbath flavour through this is awesome 👏
Someone give this man a dollar
Payola
@@teamflanneloutdoors5631 😆👍
This song is strong.
THIS IS SO AWESOME WTF
so rare to find such clear talent like this these days
Talent!! Rock And Roll is not dead.
You guys are great!!
Wow man this is spectacular. Got an Animals sprinkled with Nirvana feel. I want more like this
Jesse Welles' star is rising!
really hope he explores this sound again and acoustic version of this song!!!!
Unfortunately, I think he might have injured his voice with all the screaming he used to do, so it might not be possible for him to come back to this style. Then again, I could swear his voice sounds like it's getting better. I could also be completely wrong about why his voice sounds different, he doesn't exactly talk much anymore (in Payola he says "My voice's gotten used", that's about it).
I love that voice.
So pumped that he played Farm Aid!!!
