I found a huge problem with Valheim. First of all , once you understand the game, then the game loop is really off putting. The gameplay loop is really simple: farm resources, build base, farm more resources, than once strong with current gear from the bio, start looking for boss ( this alone can take huge time if you are not lucky, sail to different islands with boat BUILD A BASE AGAIN once you tuch land. AND PORTALS dont help much at all, because you cant transport ORE, so you have to build on every ORE farming location a smelter, forge etc.... then once the location is empty from ore, make the items you can ( with upgrades ) then destroy the stations and move on..... ( *how f tedious and annoying is that mechanic my god* ) basically on every new farming location , in MID and LATE game, you need almost to build a full base with defences etc... and you need to do it BEFORE you even know if this new land is a good farming location or not, because you can't see the whole island . ( *how f tedious and annoying is that mechanic my god* ) _________________________________________________________________________ I just stopped and started to use FLY command and SPAWN items. Its the same thing only faster. Yes i can go out and farm for 200 wood or 200 Iron or 200 Silver or just i spawn it in, and save huge time in real life. Dahhh Same with trying to find a boss location. Why move around with a boat and on foot if i can use FLY and do it much faster. __________________________________________________________________________ How to fix. Later in game once you kill let's say 2 bosses you should be able to build a device that lets you send out crows or something that can look for boss area or specific runes for you for boss location. ( saving you the time that you don't have to go look yourself and sail around aimlessly like a moron ) That way you still have to go to the rune that the crow finds, but you don't go around randomly like it is now. About ORE and new BASES that you need in every farming location. How about You Can transport Ore with Portals , but in order to do that the new ORE you get has to be in your base in a chest for 3 or 5 days and then you can transport it. Building a new base in every location or even a protal, the problem is that once you move in more dangerous , areas as soon you start to chop wood or use a pickaxe, the monsters from that bio start to come at you, making it hard for you to farm. Its all fine and good in early game, but late game this can instantly kill you with wolfs,, stone golems etc.... how about when you work at day time then monsters dont come attacking you as soon you make noice if you are not in their vision or agro radius. I noticed that as soon i start to build, chopping wood , using pickaxe then the monsters just come running from random locations.....so annoying . *They just SPAWN IN.* *How is that fair???* But i should not spawn in items??? Thats why i started to spawn in items... its faster .. and if the monsters keep spawning in, then why should i not spoawn in items??? The game should have an item or something that you can put on ground that gives you 3 or 5 days peace from mosnters at day time... this would be used in new locations where you build a base. OR once i kill monsters from lets say 100 meter or 50 meter radius , then they stop spawning in randomly at day time. At least 24 H needs to pass before new monsters show up in that 100 or 50 meter radius, and they dont show up all at once, they show up sloely. THIS WOULD BE ALSO A FIX. So the player can build a new base in relative peace. __________________________________________________ Those are the fixes. After second boss you can build device that send out crows ( or what ever ) to find the next boss location for you, or the runes at least...... and then a method for ORE transportation and base building in more dangerous areas. As the game is now, i just keep using commands to save time in real life. ohh one more thing..... FOOD EFFECT TIME is too short. considering the ingredients you have to get for some foods and they only last for 20 min or 25 min...... nah thats too short ..... i also spawn in food.... f that i have to do all the work for 3 ingredients for a food and then it only lasts 25 min.... f that .... i just spawn it.. Make combined food last 1 H or 2 H then i am willing to not use commands for it. Then it actually has value and matters.
@@tanelviil9149 you are just playing creative mod... You can play however you want but as gamers who likes challenges, this game is really great. The ores mechanic shouldnt change, else we would finish the game in less than 15 hours... Its good to have some tough obstacles on a survival game
Speaking as someone who has already mastered the mistlands and is eagerly awaiting the ashlands, having it recapped makes me appreciate just how much amazing content was added in just one biome.
Dude, this is just incredible. You made a movie long guide with every detail possible about this new biome. Thank you so much for this and I hope you keep all this passion moving on.
One note about using wisp anything in the Mistlands is it basically puts a target painter on you. Creatures can see you and see you easier, and you will be attacked much more often. I personally don't ever use any wisp items, except the sword - sometimes. Also something interesting of note regarding killing Gjall's if you have magic and a feather cape, you can just jump on top of it and kill it then safely fall.
Another tip im not sure if i missed it or it wasnt mentioned, You can put another use to gold coins giving a reason to farm more of them, With the horizontal/vertical item stand and the Dverger circlet bought for 620 gold at haldor placed onto it, it will make a never ending light source in a softer light than the lanterns that can be placed in tighter spots and hidden easier than lanterns as well. Great right above an armor stand used as a spotlight to display the armor, looks very pleasing lol
Just started out in the mistlands and thanks to this guide I've been doing pretty well took over a dwarf tower, got a farm up with both new crops going and just found a infested mine. In all that time I have only died once and it was from a 2 star seeker that flew up over a peak like a ninja and one shotted me while I was fighting a gjall. Halfway through the mines got 4 cores so far and afterwards I'm going to deconstruct the tower above it for the black marble. My own tower has been repaired and surrounded with spikes.
Thanks for spending the time to make this Nick. I've not had the chance to get into the Mistlands yet, but this video has helped me to know what to expect when I get there.
As far as I can tell you do not need to remove the sap extractors from the trees for them to recharge. They eventually go back to fresh, its not like they give a slow output if you keep them attached. EDIT: I have a farm on the border of a plains and mistlands that has 2 roots with 4 total branches and cloudberries on the plains side. Have constant wheat, and mistshrooms and I have never wanted for sap
very helpful! It means I can mention a few things I discovered above and beyond what you covered that will add to the list. I built two chicken coops, one with and one without a fire. So one to breed chickens for meat and feathers and the other for eggs without having to worry about them hatching before I pick them up. And the first two lay 16 eggs until the first egg becomes a hen. The other thing is the petrified bone, digging them out and getting them clear of solid ground/roots causes them to collapse like the silver vein.
Amazing information and very helpful for those of us that try to play with grandchildren and be more then a person running the gardens and animals.. lol being 6o + years ... I found your voice and speed of language was excellent .. easy to follow... So Yah Thanks very much for the time and effort.
Man this is the best guide anyone could ever ask for. I will be in the mistlands shortly, just gotta find Yag, kill Yag, and then its time to fear for my life.
This is by far the best explanation video that I’ve seen on any game. Ever! It was methodical and pitched at the right speed. Most UA-camrs speak far to fast for my liking and mumble their way through their content. You clear and concise!! Thanks for all your effort. :)
This guide was great, made me realise I need to do more Swamp, Ice Mountain and Plains farming for their respective metals to be prepared for the armour and weapon upgrades 👍
Chickens do eat turnip seeds. It's the main source of food I use for my chickens. Maybe it was added after the nerf to mistlands, but they definitely work
As my friends and I (mostly me) get back into valheim these guide videos you put out are truly awesome going over every single little detail. It’s clear you care abt this game and the people that play it and watch your videos. I wasn’t subscribed before and I thought I was, I work a lot and so I just put your video on in the background and listen to each detail, I then go home and use the tips in the video so thank you truly these help tremendously❤❤
Nick! You're still here! I'm back and came to you for an update on the Mistlands. Going to start my first run through after Mistlands was released. Came for the best tips from the most serious speed runner I know.
I would recommend not using wisp lights all over, just because the local buggies will smash em. Or if you have to retreat from a gjall, they target the lights specifically sadly. We torched our place up pretty well on the server I play on and they pretty much were gone after a couple days.
That seeker at 40:40 scared the bejesus out of me! Great video, low and slow is the name of the game in the mistlands. Root harnesk armor helps a lot vs. seekers too.
At 39:19, your recommendation for auto loot turned off is MAJOR. You're right that it's way more efficient to be prepared by carrying extra weapons, potions, and bombs so you don't die in the first place. However, if you do die and your body is full of loot, you'd run into the issue where you won't be able to auto pickup everything from your gravestone if you have anything on you during your naked run, ie a whisplight to get thru the Mistlands. That was the cause of quite a few deathloops on our first go round. I learned pretty quick to have autoloot turned off.
A metal cage around the eitr refinery can also contain the damage. Iron bars still take damage (but less) while the copper dwenger metal grates seem to be 100% immune to it. For getting the extractor from the dwenger camps without actually fighting the dwarves, find a gjall close to the camp you want to loot and draw it's aggro (make sure it's shooting at you and not the dwarves). Then go in the camp / tower, and try to direct the gjall's attacks towards the location of the extractor crate. make sure that the critter has line of sight with you, otherwise it changes targets. I know it sounds complicated, but the dwarves in the camps are really strong when they gang up on you.
This is literally THE BEST mistlands guide on youtube for sure, this is on par with some of the best guides ive ever seen even not just limited to valheim. Even time stamped for the people who already know some of whats up and everything. The obvious and less obvious both covered in detail... Idk if you know it but YOU just set a standard that others will need to match or their guide will be known as no good. Damn good job dude. P.S: I never knew how to say Eitr either lol, but i guessed "Eye-ter" ter being like the start of terminator.
As I learned from starting from scratch, the dwarfs only get hostile if you break stuff yourself. If you kite enough of the bugs to their locations chances are they will break stuff for you and the dwarfs don't mind when you just stand there to loot their belongings. For the dark cores however, not sure if I'm extremely unlucky but after running 3 dungeons I didn't have enough cores to build the Eitr refinery let alone the other crafting table - and I did find secret doors and what not. I have enough of the pieces to summon the final boss but yet lack enough cores to actually build anything.
Super well put together guide my man, I haven't touched Valheim since before the Mistlands update and this answered every question I had about it, great work!!
This is the best Mistlands guide, PERIOD! I could go on and on but most has been said already down below. You've got yourself a new subscriber, thank you.
Here is another Tip I just tested: Seekers and Ticks do pirce damage. Wearing the root chest peace cuts their damage in half, which might be useful for speedruns or low level entry.
Yeah I also thought that way but the gjall will catch you on fire still. If you have staff of embers and spine bone bow they work well on both plus the staff of embers is good for catching wabbit.
The Black Metal Pickaxe were available in Vanilla, they changed them to require Yggdrasil Wood now. Nice video Nick & Thank you for the info. I just returned to the game after "Completing it" in May 21'. I love this game! Props to Irongate Studios.
New boss challenge idea. All bosses beaten with magic. The challenge would be getting to the mistlands and actually getting the materials to get magic. Then fighting the bosses should be easy
So, either the vegvisir spawn rate has been massively increased, or I got the wrong kinda luck. First infested mine in my world, 6 vegvisirs, 0 cores. ayyyyy? Thanks for the in-depth video(s), always nice to see how experienced players deal with everything!
You can just use hammer on the ticks too. Hammer also works amazing on rabbits and the brood too. I just stand on their eggs and slam with hammer 3 times
Pro gamer tip: Dig under the queen's dungeon entrance for an easy fortified cave base. Probably works for infested mines as well. BONUS TIP: You can sprint while gliding with the feather cape to glide further.
You can save time by breaking a wall to the Dwarven hideout beneath the stairs leading to the queens lair. There's multiple rooms just big enough for the dwarves. No need to dig
@@simplykody7248 yeah I have the structure that was already there as an entrance. I broke the wall under the stairs and dug out a big area and have all my crafting and storage down there. So even if the outside gets attacked the main part underground is still safe.
Pity some details will be changed in the upcoming patch, but it takes nothing from the immense work this clearly took, great video! You will just have to make another one with the update :P
The game doesn't really give you *any* information outside of the raven hints. It's kinda designed for you to figure stuff out. I don't really *enjoy* that aspect and I wish we had more information, but Mistlands isn't exactly an outlier in that respect.
Thank you so much for making this! I think I shall dare venture into the mistlands now! One thing I am curious about: did start by using fire resist potions when seeing your first Gjalls? Thanks!
What are your thoughts on the update feeling like it's incomplete? The new work stations, armor sets and more aren't able to be fully upgraded. To the point where it's almost useless to make the nrw armor, minus the mage gear, due to the stats being identical or even under the previous gear from the plains. I've got all of the items to make the new carapace armor and upgrade it to lvl2 but it's basically just a cosmetic choice at this point due to it not having better stats. Seems like they got to near completion and didn't have time to fully finish it up before they needed to release it. I'll be surprised if they don't make an update that finishes the mistlands progression. Also, how do you feel about the fishing update? Seems like, other than mounting the new fish on a wall, there's not much of a reason to progress through the fishing system unless you truly want the fish&bread recipe. I've got many more opinions on this update, but won't make this post longer than it already is lol.
This upcoming patch (current beta branch) has with a second upgrade to both the Galdr Table and the Black Forge for a max of level 3 on all items crafted with them, and Ashlands is coming after that. I wouldn't be surprised if the Black Forge and Galdr Table were meant to be current for both Mislands and Ashlands.
What about beating valheim in reverse after the mistlands update? You would have to glitch into the queen dungeon the same way you would glitch into the swamp dungeons though... (or use the portal glitch)
Now i just wish they change the skill system. It is unreasonably grindy/punishing, example you play one weapontype for some time, then change it up, die, die while building or whatever and get deathsquitod. Now your level 50 skill is like ... 45? Grinding that back up takes hours, just because you didnt play optimally to try stuff out. Most skills arent even that good, why do i lose my woodcutting and mining levels, swim, run and jump + my weapon + shield + backup weapon xp on top of having to recover my stuff. Just halt my XP gain, so to be able to raise it again i actually have to use, lets say my backup weapon, actively for some time before i gain xp. It just gets more tedious.
My favorite move to fight and loot the Dwarf camps is to throw up a stone cutter and demolish their whole base, then aoe attack them while they stand shocked in a single group.
I'm not here yet, but can you put down mist torches in the Queen's area? Really appreciate the guide to the area, as I'm kinda dreading it honestly. This and Ashlands are not what I'm looking for out of Valheim. But I'll soldier through if I have to.
How do you find places to plant in the mistlands? I dugout a entire area went to flatten ground and the hoe turned the ground into stone, not dirt. Unable to cultivate it at that point. I even went into one of the gullies like you have in the video and the same thing happened as soon as I tried to level the ground. So, I’m thinking you can’t use the hoe? Only cultivate it?
lanterns so pretty, I want to make wraiths extinct for their chains. Well, I will try to work with wisps instead for my lantern spams... the wisp torches also unlimited light
Use a cart to destroy the chest! Just ram it into the chest and it will take damage. Prob need to do that to the Ward first though, but the Dwarves won't get mad from the cart
If you manage to get an extractor from an outpost that enemies cleared out (they can't heal and will eventually die) provided you don't like... actually bait enemies in to do it on purpose, you can refine Eitr. Those little orbs also shoot out radiation. Dump a bunch on the ground next to the ward and they'll break it with no aggro. The Dvergr don't care about the actual breaking of their stuff, just the ward's protection. So if you break the ward without angering them, they'll ignore you while you smash crates.

How to fix.
Later in game once you kill let's say 2 bosses you should be able to build a device that lets you send out crows or something that can look for boss area or specific runes for you for boss location.

Those are the fixes.
After second boss you can build device that send out crows ( or what ever ) to find the next boss location for you, or the runes at least...... and then a method for ORE transportation and base building in more dangerous areas.
As the game is now, i just keep using commands to save time in real life.

Easy way to farm black marble is build a stonecutter next to a Dvergr camp you've cleared out and dismantle it. No mining required
Now that the seeker soldiers are rare, yes
@@shutupshaun no, that really is the easiest way. Seeker soldier take to long.

P.S: I never knew how to say Eitr either lol, but i guessed "Eye-ter" ter being like the start of terminator.
This is the most comprehensive guide that I've seen and it immensely helped me out, thank you!
Great job. This one is really tricky to do solo. I have a feeling they designed and balanced the whole fight for group multiplayer.
Thanks! Merry Christmas Nick.
Wow thank you so much for the super thanks. Really appreciate you keeping the dream alive. Merry Christmas buddy!
This is the best Mistlands guide, PERIOD! I could go on and on but most has been said already down below. You've got yourself a new subscriber, thank you.
Here is another Tip I just tested:
Seekers and Ticks do pirce damage. Wearing the root chest peace cuts their damage in half, which might be useful for speedruns or low level entry.
Yeah I also thought that way but the gjall will catch you on fire still. If you have staff of embers and spine bone bow they work well on both plus the staff of embers is good for catching wabbit.
@@crybbysckatit Barly wine will solve that issue.
@@gromsword6984 very true.
@@gromsword6984 would be nice if crossbows where classed with bows in the bow skill, root armour would be awsome with the arbalest
The Black Metal Pickaxe were available in Vanilla, they changed them to require Yggdrasil Wood now. Nice video Nick & Thank you for the info. I just returned to the game after "Completing it" in May 21'. I love this game! Props to Irongate Studios.
I watched this entire video from beginning to end. You've done an excellent job here. 10/10! Thank you.
Ok, this is the ultimate mistlands guide out there, well done mate!
Impressive work man, still relevant one year later
One quick note if you have a tick on your back; a dodge roll will dislodge them. Useful if your chosen weapon isnt a polearm
14:53 the moment I went to like the video and comment “❤”
New boss challenge idea.
All bosses beaten with magic.
The challenge would be getting to the mistlands and actually getting the materials to get magic. Then fighting the bosses should be easy
So, either the vegvisir spawn rate has been massively increased, or I got the wrong kinda luck. First infested mine in my world, 6 vegvisirs, 0 cores. ayyyyy?
Thanks for the in-depth video(s), always nice to see how experienced players deal with everything!
I actually thought these things were immortal until I saw this. I need to try the mace and sheild combo!
@@tyburkulosis8799 very nice! Could be a cool base location
@@simplykody7248 ua-cam.com/video/KLNLlUJ5Yao/v-deo.html
@@tyburkulosis8799 nice! Looks like it'd be a lot of fun to fly off of the top of that 😋
What an awesome and comperhensive video Nick! Great job!
I found the queen area but didn't know about the torches and chicken eggs! Thanks
Brilliant mate thank you very much for doing this hope you have a great Christmas.
i literally was watching you a minute ago with 6.79k now you're at 6.8k 1 minute later
what an endeavor man, you legend!
Pity some details will be changed in the upcoming patch, but it takes nothing from the immense work this clearly took, great video! You will just have to make another one with the update :P
Best guide out there
You do a very good job on your tutorials!
Great video Nick, many thanks for the detailed and in-depth guide 👍👍
best guide for mistlands
Thanks that's really nice of you to say.
Best guide if seen in a long time great work.
Great content for this tiny guide 😜
Epic guide, thank you sir!
you know what would be really EPICLY cool? If the game designers actually gave us any of this information IN THE GAME.
The game doesn't really give you *any* information outside of the raven hints. It's kinda designed for you to figure stuff out. I don't really *enjoy* that aspect and I wish we had more information, but Mistlands isn't exactly an outlier in that respect.
if you've played the game long enough, you'll know you'll never stay at 100 in any levels
Another excellent video! looking forward to seeing your next installments. :)
To get rid of ticks you can also roll, they will then stop sucking on you.
Thank you so much for making this! I think I shall dare venture into the mistlands now! One thing I am curious about: did start by using fire resist potions when seeing your first Gjalls? Thanks!
Outstanding guide. 11/10. 3 thumbs up.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Black Forge and Galdr Table were meant to be current for both Mislands and Ashlands.
damn thats comprehensive
My favorite move to fight and loot the Dwarf camps is to throw up a stone cutter and demolish their whole base, then aoe attack them while they stand shocked in a single group.
what an epic work You done here. great work
I'm not here yet, but can you put down mist torches in the Queen's area? Really appreciate the guide to the area, as I'm kinda dreading it honestly. This and Ashlands are not what I'm looking for out of Valheim. But I'll soldier through if I have to.
Himmin Afl does lightning strikes with every attack not just secondary
Holy crap, there's so much new content.
So helpful. Thank you so much!
Thanks, Nick this is amazing!
Another great piece of content. Thanks Nick!
Well done in making this video!!
lanterns so pretty, I want to make wraiths extinct for their chains. Well, I will try to work with wisps instead for my lantern spams... the wisp torches also unlimited light
Tremendous Job on this video!!
Fantastic Nick loved it 😀
I really wish there was a way to get those extractors that didnt involve getting those gnome bros aggroed or killed
Can sneak work to get the extractor from the chest?
Use a cart to destroy the chest! Just ram it into the chest and it will take damage. Prob need to do that to the Ward first though, but the Dwarves won't get mad from the cart
Devcommands (: i only used it for this and some stone for aesthetic purposes
If you manage to get an extractor from an outpost that enemies cleared out (they can't heal and will eventually die) provided you don't like... actually bait enemies in to do it on purpose, you can refine Eitr. Those little orbs also shoot out radiation. Dump a bunch on the ground next to the ward and they'll break it with no aggro. The Dvergr don't care about the actual breaking of their stuff, just the ward's protection. So if you break the ward without angering them, they'll ignore you while you smash crates.
Such a great. VIdeo teachs most everything you need to know ..thank you
Nice quide,Already some updates and nerfs come in game.
_the sad music playing when clearing a Dvergr outpost..._ 😢
very well done Nick
Awesome guide Nick, you legend! Have you figured out a good way to defend against Gjall's for mistland farms?
Not finished testing this yet but I wanna make a video on it at some point.
I would think one way to keep your farms safe is to cultivate by a Dverger tower. Those lil wizards and rogues can inadvertently keep your plants safe
I found the queen's location with my friend before yagluths location, without dungeons
1:20:45 I only feed my chickens turnip seeds so maybe they changed that.
WELL DONE! Thank you for all the time and effort you've put into this. It was very helpful. I'll sub to get more. Thanks again.
really great guide, thank you
42:00 - To complete the Mistlands, you must first commit war crimes and engage in chemical warfare with the Dwarves
So helpful. Awesome video
