Did Frankie really ever have any kind of a childhood? He was extremely talented but the underbelly of his story is actually incredibly sad. So much abuse, sa, and neglect. It's sickening that this part of his story has been glossed over and normalized. Sick world we live in.

That part of the story when he threw his girlfriends puppy out the window, that’s when I thought, yes, this person may have had a rough life, but hurting helpless animals or children, is something I can not stomach. The actor did a great job but that was that.

Now, this isn't entirely on Mr. Tate. The majority of the responsibility lies with the Director and Executive Producers. And any "reward" that was withheld was withheld rightfully. Long before there were groups such as the Jackson 5 and New Edition, the music world had Frankie Lymon and The Teenagers. I became interested in Frankie's music through the film "Why Do Fools Fall In Love?", which got me discovering 1950s music - the pioneering era of Doo Wop and Rock n' Roll. Had it not been for the turbulent life he lived, he would've been one of the biggest music icons in the 1960s. The music industry is a cruel business, especially for those artists who broke out at a young age as Frankie did. He's truly missed.

This is one of the best online documentaries that I've seen on the great Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers. You covered most of key elements that defined Mr. Lymon and the Teenagers influence upon Rock & Roll's early development. While i found the film starring Larenz Tate as Frankie Lymon entertaining, it really didn't delve into the heart of the groups development and the major impact in which they had in helping to launch what would be known as the popular boy and girl singing groups. Which would define the 1950's, 60's and beyond. Hollywood really needs to invest in producing a feature length film on this multi talented, good looking group of male youth. Who contributed towards popularizing every all male and female vocal group which has flourished since their inception into the music industry!

He has a beautiful voice and a talent that ended short due to not having the best guidance in his life and the environment he lived in. Also, Frankie (2nd oldest) only had 3 brothers names are Lewis, Timmy, Howie, and no sister. Not sure if their father had other children elsewhere but it was just Frankie and his three brothers. I have been a Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers fan for many years now. I have all of their recordings as well as Frankie's later recordings. I met and spoke with Jimmy Merchant, Herman Santiago, and the late-great Louis Lymon. All great guys. My late-great friend, Timothy Wilson of the 1958 group "Tiny Tim & The Hits" was singing lead for The Teenagers in later years before Timothy's death from cancer a few years ago. Louis Lymon was also with the group at that time. The late-great Ronnie "I" Italiano, president & founder of the United in Group Harmony Association (UGHA), was a good friend of mine, and I was a member of UGHA from 1980 until Ronnie's death from cancer in March 2008, which is when UGHA came to an end. The organization did raise money for a nice headstone for Frankie's grave by hosting a show in 1986. I also helped induct The Teenagers into the UGHA Hall of Fame in the early 1990's. When Ronnie's store closed in 2012, the stone went to UGHA member Pam N. Years later, the stone went to a museum in Michigan. "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" is a great movie. I have it in my vast VHS-DVD collection and watch it on my theater sized movie screen, using my Naxa Projection System and surround-sound system. This is a great story about the group. Great job well done. MAY FRANKIE LYMON, SHERMAN GARNES AND JOE NIGRONI ALL REST IN HARMONY. I always play their songs on my internet radio shows at youtube/anthonyjamroz.
