Wsup Vashawn, I was peeping this out today, I am glad you are on here to clear up some of the misinformation. How you been ? I hope you still doing well. I also wanted to make sure no misinformation was here. I hope Fawn is doing good.
Gracefully said young man. I really loved and respected your father. I'm also from the Chi!!! I love the dedication ceremony Chicago had for him. This is just a little of what he really stood for. He truly was a trendsetter. I'm much younger born in the sixties....I've never met your Father but his spirit resignates with in. I have him on my playlist. 😂 Shabba Doo!!!! My son is also of a mix race. I love Jesus and one day when the rapture comes. I will see him dancing again. From a Chicagoan now living in the South Suburbs. ❤❤❤ You are his legacy. 😊😊😊

Man, Breakin 1 and 2 are still my favorite movies till this day. Breakin 1 came out in '84, the year I was born. Also, one of my mother's brothers acutally knew Shabba Doo before he moved to LA. He said he was a cool dude. Had no idea he was raised a Jehovah's Witness. I read how he became a Jehovah's Witness later in life before he died!! And damn he tapped Toni Basil? Knew she had a thing for the brothers. Man, that song "Mickey" is still a classic!! Great vid!!
The Lockers also recorded a song called "Stuffing The Bird" in 1976 the instrumental version was the song Rerun Danced to in the first episode of "What's Happening?!"
Back in 1971 when Soul Train came to DC my sister's and I were hooked. I had never seen pop lockin'. My father who was in the Air Force at the time had remarried my step mother in California and got stationed at Andrews Air Force in 1972. I first met my step brother that year when they came to my mother's house and he was doing the pop lockin' dance. Little did I know that 50 years later Shabba Doo would be icon of that dance style. Those were great times.

I believe it was at the Reisterstown Rd Plaza or either at Security Square Mall, can't remember which location, They came to promote the movie and was traveling everywhere, I didn't attend that day but my youngest sister and some of her friends did, she said that she was standing right up front and she got some absolutely awesome photos, picture perfect, they ( the 3 cast members) did some dance routines and was wonderfully deeply appreciated by the huge crowd, extending their appreciation to their devoted fans and signing autographs, everyone had a great time, but yeah this was back in the 80's and she still have those very treasured extra special photos and she shared them with me so yes I have them too❤️🤗👍

@@desireecase7870 not that race and nationality matters much to me, Shabbba- Doo never said he was Ethiopian- that claim never came out of his mouth. I saw an interview Mr. Shabba-Doo gave. He seemed very insightful, educated and humble. He must've been a joy to be around. I give my most sincere condolences to you and the rest of your family.
Shabba Doo has never been underrated ...... I love that MAN,,, AND HE LOOKS FINER NOW.... He was my first crush EVER when I was a child!!! I didn't know what love was.....BUT I LOVED HIM!!!!
Shabba was known for Poplockin, NOT breakdancin. Breakdancin was in New York heavy bac then, "Rock Steady Crew", "New York City breakers". Westcoast had mostly Poplockin. Movies like "Footloose" "Breakin" was about westcoast lifestyle, with a caucasian female as the Star, smh. New York flicks were more like "Beatstreet, Wildstyle, Krushgroove ect". More of a deeper hiphop feel. Graffiti, breakin, Rappin, dj'ing ect.
Let's not forget popping and locking IS part of Breaking. Let's not down play that. And Let's not forget the movie Krush Groove showed how the Industry moved in and destroyed real Hip Hop. The only group that got paid was Run DMC
@@Kabingis Other groups was PAID was before dmc. They always PAID rappers that made records, they didn't do it for FREE. It just wasn't BIG MONEY. Rundmc just brought hiphop to the Mainstream and made it so that rapperscan wear their "StreetClothes". Before them rappers wore clothes that Parliament funk groups wore. Rundmc changed the fashion
I got 2 stents in my veins due to clogged arteries....there are symptoms...he ignored them...People of color don't go to the doctor..I'm a gay man...he was fine.
R.I.P. to the man I saw on the movie screen who also became a friend. He always laughed when I told him how he helped my teenage dating life because I had a similar look as him. He said he was still the best looking between me and him. lol Crazy story: I grew up with his niece in Chicago and when Breakin came out she was telling us that he was her uncle but we didn’t believe her…years later after meeting and becoming friends I found out that she was telling the truth after all. I’m also good friends with his son.

It was suppose to carry on from the second movie. But he said his vision saw the lead character being a woman. The World of Street Dance will miss a Great Teacher, and Locking Legacy.
This was awesome I was 7 when Breakin came out street legend we would bring the cardboard out in the 80's and get busy Rip Ozone & Poppin 🌮
Thank you for this video I turned 40 tomorrow and this literally made me want to dance. Without this movie I never would have been inspired to do so, Thank you Ozone
Thanks for doing this bit on Shabba-Doo. I recall seeing him at 6 yrs old and I have had a crush every since.
Wow what a awesome person and great inspiration. He was one of the individuals that opened the doors for a lot of people
He will be missed he a good dancer
Just started listening. Had no idea this brother was part Ethiopian. አመሰግናለሁ 🇪🇹
He wasn't. He was Puerto Rican and black American according to his son
Dude kept working and contributing until his last breath. Respect.
Word
He be truly be missed
I had the biggest crush on him. Clogged ateries? He seemed like he was healthy and ate healthy.
I got 2 stents in my veins due to clogged arteries....there are symptoms...he ignored them...People of color don't go to the doctor..I'm a gay man...he was fine.
I had such a crush on him back in the day and we was still fine as he got older ❤️ May he RIP 💔
R.I.P. to the man I saw on the movie screen who also became a friend.
He always laughed when I told him how he helped my teenage dating life because I had a similar look as him. He said he was still the best looking between me and him. lol
Crazy story: I grew up with his niece in Chicago and when Breakin came out she was telling us that he was her uncle but we didn’t believe her…years later after meeting and becoming friends I found out that she was telling the truth after all.
I’m also good friends with his son.
MY Man 50 grand! 🙏🏿👊🏿
Outstanding as always 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆He will always be Ozone to me❣️❣️❣️❣️
LOVED HIM! ♥️🙏🏾🔥💯
Thank you! for this great story on Shabba-Doo always remember him from Soul Train. Him his sister and the locker were great performers. Just bringing back great memories.
Oh wow 🤩 gotta see this one…thank you for doing it. Brings back memories of my 80s childhood when every other movie was about breakdancing.
I get emotional watching Breakin 1 and especially 2. So fresh and fun. Ozone was an excellent dancer and could really act. He'll be missed.
I just enjoy your documentaries. Be blessed 🥰
Omg that has upset me, I didnt no he was gone 😢 He truly was the Godfather of Street Dance. BREAKIN is one of the best movies made to date, it was so authentic and the blend of cultures made it great. 💛 RIP to Shabba doo...an original creater. Thank you for making history with ur art work 🙏🏽
so glad you did this. his career needs to be highlighted. I remember his crew dancing on What's Happening.
Your facts r A1 your journalism Skillz r great I love your vids keep the heat coming do one on Marvin Gaye I love his music
I was so I'm love with him,he was so freaking handsome and talented. Breakin and breakin 2 are still in my favorites. I cried so much they day I heard he died, rip.
Another great video as usual!! Rest In Peace and Power Shabba Doo!
Rest in peace Shabba Doo aka Ozone God bless your memories 🕊
My favorite line in breakin was when the the dance instructor asked ozone who he was he replied famously’ Orlando, choreographer,Dancer! Word.
Wow!!! Thanks for this!!! He was an awesome dude full of knowledge. It still hurts. One of the coolest dudes you ever want to meet. You did your research thoroughly!!!
R.i.p Popn Taco the Latino , R.i.p Shabba- doo
He was my childhood crush. I was so heartbroken when I found out he passed away. The media says he had a son and a daughter. But they also said Gwendolyn Powell had only one child with him and he didn’t have children with Lela Rochon. So did he only have 1 child or two?
I hardly knew any of these things about him. Fascinating. Thank you for the story.
You are a underrated young man, you also seen like a good dude and loyal, A friend to want forever.
That prop that Turbo used in that dance sequence was used on a Nightmare on Elm Street when Tna was murdered 😳
Much luv.. from 804.. nice work...
Legend 🥺😢
Keep up the good work! I like your documentaries.
I enjoyed this video and learned a lot about Shabbadoo. So talented, unapologetic and handsome all in one package. Gone to soon 😢 rest in peace ❤ thanks for sharing.
This is an excellent one man! Thank you!
Thx u for the story u should have your own tv show
Breakin was one of my favorite movies. I should watch back in the 80s it over and over again. I had a huge crush on Ozone in Breakin. RIP❤🙏
MANNNNN. I LOVED this movie. TFS. You know Taco just passed away. Taco was Poppin Pete's dance partner in Breakin. He was also in Micheal Jackson's video Smooth Criminal. Shabba Doo dancing was legendary. Toni Basil from the lockers get a lot of credit for her dancing, but NEVER mentions that she started in the group.🤔😒
It's a shame Toni Basil at her mid 70's still not given the recognition she RIGHTLY deserves!!
White people often steal the credit, without giving proper due to the black folks who taught them/brought them into the loop.
@@sandrasanders706 why should this white woman get credit for misappropriating black dance moves....as always they get the recognition.
Yes back with another banger video 🔥❤️
Great Stream 🔴⚫️ Shabba Doo is missed best time growing up on Breakin and The Lockers
Love love your videos!!! I'm still waiting on some videos about holidays!!! You mentioned it on the Robert Johnson video...I'm waiting!!! Patiently of course!!!
I'm just subscribing to you and I'm glad I found you. You are very good at what your doing. Excellent topics very well told. Thank you for these stories.
