  • This legendary instructor is about to teach you everything you need to know on how to burnout like a... well, you'll see. In this video, each of the fundamental steps of how to do a burnout will be taught, as well as what not to do.
    There are a few common mistakes that people make when attempting to do a burnout in a car, and I want to make sure you avoid these potentially car damaging errors.
    In my video that teaches how to burnout, the first thing I explain is the traction control settings and how you will want the traction systems set to burn rubber. I then teach you how to drop the clutch in a manual transmission to do a burnout. Make sure that when you drop the clutch the RPM's are high enough to get the wheels spinning, and be 100% sure that the clutch hooks up and is not slipping.
    After the clutch hooked up and the wheels are spinning, press on the brake hard enough to keep the car stopped or moving at a slow crawl. Make sure you don't press the brake so hard that the drive wheels stop spinning and the clutch spins.
    There is a big difference in terms of smell, and cost of labor/parts to replace a set of tires vs replacing a clutch.
    After the tires are spinning and you are doing a burnout in your car, make sure you don't smoke the tires too long. I point out a few things that can potentially go wrong when doing a burnout, such as the tires popping, the brakes heating up, and the tires hooking up and launching you forward after you let off the brake.
    If your tires are in bad condition and you burn them too long, they could pop and cause serious damage to your car or even potentially injure a bystander. If the brakes get too hot they could not only wear significantly, but they could also catch on fire and lead to more problems than you were asking for.
    When you want to end the burnout, you can let off the gas and keep your foot on the brake and/or press in the clutch to take the power away from the wheels so you don't launch forward or send the cause veering off course and crash.
    Make sure you are aware that the engine won't be able to cool down as well as if you are driving fast. Wind will not be entering the engine bay under the hood to blow all that smokin' engine heat out of there and give the components a chance to cool down.
    I hope this video has been helpful in your quest to learn how to burnout like a bad.... :). Share this video on forums and with friends, Click like, and subscribe for more great videos, thanks!

    You put your left foot in
    You put your right foot in
    You take your left foot out

    And you blow your trans out
    That's how you burn a clutch

    Have friends watching who, if the tires aren't spinning, will yell out "STOP!" instead of just sitting, watching and laughing as your clutch melts. (3:52)

    LOL 7.6 mpg

    • @TailHappyTV
      @TailHappyTV  9 років тому +40

      lol, i captured that "7.xx MPG" intentionally, it averages 12-13 MPG with my "normal" spirited driving. I pretty much always let the engine run between 2,000-3,000 RPM when cruising. If I tried my hardest to keep the MPG "good" it would probably do 14-15 in the city, but would take almost ALLLL the fun away from driving it. It will actually do 22 MPG on the highway in 5th or 6th, not bad for having 550HP on tap. At the end of the day we're talking, at best, the difference of one or two car payments in gas money at the end of the year. Don't buy a car like this unless you are 100% cool with; Never looking at gas prices when you re-fuel, and spending an extra $1,000 a year on gas. It's a driving mans car, and as far as I know, ya only live once :)

    @sermerlin1 8 років тому +14

    Now fellas, This is a real good tutorial how to do a proper burnout! Just gonna give a bit of basics for the FWD guys.
    What you should NOT do when you hook the clutch is slam the brakes this is a NO GO for FWD cars. All car brakes (if not modified) have more brake power on front then on rear (it's aprox 70% - 30% for front-rear and it may differ greatly for some cars). Therefore if you hit the brakes as soon as you dump the clutch what you saw in the yellow corvette video will happen to you too!
    What you have to do fellas is lift the E brake (you can either lock it or press the button and hold it until you're done with doing a stationary and bad ass motherfucking burnout and just fly away!) and rev high enough then just dump the clutch. Your rear brakes will lock the rear tires and you guess what happens next... You do a FWD burnout! FWD burnouts are even less hard on cars then RWD burnouts because your brakes won't be heating up since there is no force being applied to the front brake calipers! So all you have to worry about is your engine being heated if done a prolonged burnout and your tires. Also FWD burnout is less hard on a clutch then a RWD car because again there isn't braking force applied to the front wheels and that way wheels rotate more freely and less force is being returned to the clutch. Oh i almost forgot FWD burnout also has less chances of you swirling into side of the road but you still have to pay attention to the feedback from the wheels and counter steer accordingly!
    I hope this helps.

I immediately searched for a burnout tutorial trying to figure out why so many people screwed up. This video answer the question: they pressed the brake pedal too hard.
      There was also quite a few ignorant drivers who were failing at doing burnouts on AWD cars...

    i have a question!
    i have a mustang V6 2013 automatic, and i want to make a bournout but..... i'm afraid to broke something important inside the car, like the engine etc, do you know if there is a risk doing this with my car! ! ! ?

  • @213andrewzhang
    @213andrewzhang 8 років тому

    i did exactly like he said. the rear tires were spinning but i could also smell a little bit of my clutch burned. does that mean i have a bad clutch? or was i holding the brake too hard even tho the car was moving when doing a burn out.

      ***** Yea....my $2000 '88 mr2 does seem pretty extravagant to most of the 3rd world, but since you have internet access I'm sure you could afford a used rwd vehicle, you just have to want it.

    • @shobin05
      @shobin05 9 років тому

      Bob Hope of course I want one, just so you know, a used s2000 costs $33,000 where I live and im talking about a beat up one, with many miles on the clock. old mr2s or miatas are great cars and are indeed cheaper but nobody in my place is willing to go through the nightmare of looking for spare parts, if you can actually find one that is in good condition is another massive thing to consider. Also mr2s are not practical cars. Old rwd lexuses or bmws are out of reach for most of us due to our ridiculous tax based on engine displacement (meaning the bigger the engine the more expensive your road tax)
      Simply put, Malaysia is the worst country to live in if you're a car guy. That said I do plan to get a used brz when I have the money, just not anytime soon, till then, I will happily settle for any fun well sorted fwd car.

    • @bobhope4288
      @bobhope4288 9 років тому

      ***** I'm sorry, but my best advice is to go pick up truck early, I know there is a lot of FWD car-trucks, but you can find some older small used pick up truck and learn the fun of RWD, the light rear end makes up for the lack of power. A cheap truck taught me a lot about FR driving dynamics and how great they are.
      P.S. It rains a lot there, so practice in the rain, in the rain with a pickup truck, you can drive it like it's a 500HP monster spinning the wheels everywhere you want. Accept the drift, be one with the drift. :)

      I can do burnout with my audi A4 b7 1.9 tdi man. It's all about the traction. It's -2 C outside and at 60 km/h my ESP screams if I floor it. I bet I can do second gear burnout if it's slippery like this. On dry, with my pilot sport 4 it's almost impossible to get slip without some breaks applied. Oh, it's FWD, not quattro ^_^ and it has a bigger turbo on it (around 180 hp and 400 Nm).

    So burning up the clutch will only be from if you pressed the brake all the way down to keep the tires from moving in any way? I saw in one video that how you dump the clutch can give you problems as well, by dumping it way too quickly, and recommending feathering it the slightest bit as you slam the accelerator?
    I got a Miata a month or so ago, so I've just been having fun in it now, and have done a couple take-off burnouts, and didn't want to risk stalling the car by trying to do a standing burnouts. This video definitely helped me out with that!

    • @keithroberson118
      @keithroberson118 9 років тому +1

      he went from fully depressed clutch and accelerator to fully depressed brakes and accelerator. That is why the wheels broke lose for all of a second and then everyone out there watched an idiot behind the wheel. Also behind the camera because he walked in front of a Corvette under power( lucky the brakes didn't fail.)
