The flame is adjustable... Once the stove is burning, you can open the wingnut to reduce the pressure, lowering the flame.... It simmers beautifully. and if it's burning properly, there will be very little soot if any.
If you are squeemish, don't read the ingredients of the summer sausage. Great demo. But I've seen other videos where they demonstrated you open the air vent before lighting the alcohol cup. Them pump pressure a time or two. Once your alcohol is almost gone, close the air vent, pump the pressure up and the burner should light. I like your Indian gear ! What a great find you made. I've seen antique Indian camp stoves, that were real tall and had multiple levels, but they were very expensive.
These stoves a great at various levels. I reduce pressure to get into simmer mode. (Like for Rice Aroni, is will stay at the lowe flame level. Much quite with the silencer burner. I used kerosine stove fo 10 years on a sailboat.
Thanks for the wisdom! I am finding with practice the more that it is preheated with alcohol the better it is at starting. Even when I think I preheated it enough I load the pan up again just to ensure I have a good initial burn without sputtering.
Yeah i was watching those drippings as well. I wasnt sure if it would be normal because he didnt mention them, but i guess he didnt notice as it was going
It is! This was to show all the steps. I believe the damp spot under it was from condensation as I lit it again after the video and it was not duplicated and I touched the area and smelled it but found no kerosene odor.
@Pygar2 thanks! I didn't catch that at all...I wonder if I pumped it too soon. 🤔 I'll check the unedited footage and see. I really appreciate you pointing it out!
Wow. Thats awesome. Indian war mess kit? They havent changed to the modern era. Ihad the same thing in the 90’s in army. Id love to see you make authentic civilwar, and im sure Indian Wars. Hard tack
Unfortunately for some folks like those of us who live in California denatured alcohol (marine stove fuel) is now illegal.😢...as is naphtha and Believe it or not Everclear.😮
@@tarstakars Odd because to my understanding denatured alcohol is just alcohol products that have chemicals added to prevent people from drinking it. Pretty wild if they banned it since those products are used for so many things

Thanks! I'll try that!

Look at the low, spitting flame around 11:25! Has to be a leak! The Primus 100 *is* 100, this year!

@@lalli8152From his position, I doubt he could see it.
I think you need to have new washers and to try and stay out of the wind to light that stove that burner needs to be hot
Thank you!
Isn't this the same stove you repaired last week?

Why?
Well apparently they destroy the environment....
