I had a red 1975 XL 125 as a teenager. Loved it! Mine had the same headlight grill and front fender with mud flap. Mine also came with a factory tachometer. I added a Whispering Smith exhaust (high pipe like in the video), Elsinore (finned) shocks, and little tail light. It was geared lower for thick woods riding in upstate New York.

The good ol’ trusty XL’s and XR’s. Even the Mini Trail 70 had that distinctive “tin can fart” 4 stroke thumper exhaust sound. Extremely slow and underpowered, but they all last forever. Timeless pieces really. One dinosaur throwback I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for is the now somewhat old, rare, and short lived CRE line, the 250’s, 260’s, and there were also even some 500’s that were built as well. That’s a cold winter season project worth while. 🔧 🇺🇸

@@austinfrancis9723 When I was a kid my fathers buddy sent his XR250R engine out to get bored over, the whole package: jug, piston, rings, rod, pin, sprocket, chain, flywheel, this was back in the 90’s, back in the era of Bargain News and Yankee Swapper magazine! That bike was a monster to me back then. Now I’m 42 and have owned my 400R for years, the 250 seems so small! But of course the XR650R is the crowned thumper monster, just too dam heavy to throw around the trails, great for the desert! 🏜 I started on a 1990 XR100R, that’s how I learned to wrench on bikes. First operation was thrown cam chain. Not fun! 🔧 🤣

Pretty little bike, those little XLs were perfect for a spot of light 'green laning' here in the UK, nice and light and happy to chug along slowly for ever just sipping fuel.

I appreciate you do the description with the same high dedication on this little bike as you do with the big bangers. The little xl's and xr's are totally under estimated, they are great little machines👍

One fine ass bike, for it's age! Looks showroom condition.. Honda makes good fourstroke enduro's no doubt. When it comes to a dirtbike for me, It Has To Be a 2 Stroke. If I want a 4 stroke, I will buy a streetbike. Lol....Awesome how y'all keep the 2 Stroke Love Alive, for dirtbikes and streetbikes! Enjoy your weekend, Brother. TGIF! Nice blue bezel in Speedometer.

Here in nz they were called CT's. The XLs had a different tank, seat and suspension.. longer swig arm..
The CT went to a 185 and later a 200 auto.. very interesting how two countries got the same thing but different..

When I was 8 year's old living in southern California my family went to the Colorado River across from Yuma Arizona in 1973 and in my ignorance and mishandling returning to the camping place there was a hill right after the entrance there a 4 foot or so hill that people had been jumping and I went right over it perfectly and nobody was there to see y.

This 1975 XL125 is rather interesting since the high pipe did not come out until 1976 for the XL125 and 1977 for the XL100. I prefer high pipes for off road since they last longer and this one is tucked up rather nicely. The rear rack is probably HondaLine and rather rare or from a streetbike and tastefully done = looks OEM and/or an improvement from 70's racks.
The front fender is correct for 1975. -Those never last this long especially the Preston Petty fiberglass/plastic ones.
I had an 1976 XL100 (beater. dents in tank etc) after 8th grade and they are excellent starter motorcycles with this XL125 or XL175 being even better. The 250/350 are heavier bikes and less trail friendly (stock).
The fun per dollar of these bikes is amazing and the engines last forever with minimal work. 70mpg+

You are correct. The 75 model came with a down swept pipe. Also the frame was not red. It was black from the factory along with the headlight housing. Not the factory tail light also . It should also have a tachometer along with the speedo. So someone has changed a couple things on this 75 model. I know, I had one. I have the pics still.

the tail pipe is missing the spark arrestor and the required back pressure by the engine. One can't get a offroad sticker with no arrestor. Dual sport mc, no title makes the bike worth a lot less as you can't register the mc for the road. Titles add value, while no titles cut value substantially. Finally, almost everything from the east has major rust issues same for SE USA.
