Oh, hey, it's in University Village. I've been meaning to head down there and say goodbye to the Burgermaster before it closes, but now I have two reasons to go this weekend.
I've been meaning to check this place out since hearing about it. Those bagels look so good! I love the little "rant" about people not reading menus until they're actually at the front of line. That drives me nuts! I've lived in Seattle my entire life and I swear that kind of behavior has gotten since in recent years.
2:10 it finally happened! I was wondering when someone would recognize you doing one of these out and about vids. I would be so worried about disturbing you I'd probably just stare from a distance for too long and make you uncomfortable and then run away full sprint from the social anxiety.
Fantastic news - I have been craving something like this. Lok Smith is decent but could be better- so having some other strong choices really makes for a better community all in all
I tried them last week and thought they were lighter and maybe more bready than a typical New York bagel. Then again Mt Bagel is similar in texture. Have you tried Backyard Bagel yet? Curious to hear thoughts on them too.
just a question towards the end of the video: how can salt - that absorbs water from the bagel - render the crust soft? Seems absolutely illogical to me but I might be missing something...
The whole "realizing the menu is there once they hit the front of the line" thing around here is literally insane behavior.... Same thing when merging onto the highway. People seem to realize only at the end of the onramp that "oh wow I'm going 45 and trying to merge in 70mph traffic, maybe I should speed up."
yeah i was wondering if they had salmon cream cheese or something comparable. idk how authentic it is to ny bagels but a legit bagel place in seattle seems perfectly teed up for it.
I went to a bagel shop in Seattle once and the bloke in front of me actually got a “OH MY GOD COME ON” (oho and much more besides) from the worker when he kept asking about the menu…. To be fair? It was a tiny ass menu, font wise…. With like 500 options
Sounds good but unfortunate location for the shop. UVillage is not on anyone’s walking commute and parking requires navigating UVillage’s atrocious parking. He might make a lot of weekend sales but that’s about it.
Yum - I need to check this out. Toasting bagels are for stale bagels. I still get irked when I hear advertisements for Zabar's "toasting bagels" - like is that a point of pride? Seriously?
I had to stop watching when you started talking about getting fresh bagels made within the hour, because I got too sad that I don't have that anywhere near me. :(
Courage bagels in L.A. were the worst bagels I’ve ever had. Mt Bagels, Kenji’s previous bagel recommendation are also not great; so I wouldn’t trust this recommendation.
shut up about best this best that. all are good in their own way. i dont care about your youtube dubass algorithm. come on man, evolve out of it. youve come a long way since you started this journey.

The enthusiasm with which you ate those made me hungry! They look awesome
So happy for Hey Bagel! I loved getting Bagels from his pop ups in random spots over the last couple years.
Gotta throw the OG Bagel Oasis into the conversation
Beautiful opening crackle!

If Kenji says “wow…. Excellent.” Then that place may as well have a Michelin Star. I’m going
next time im in the city I need to go get some! Hopefully I can run into you one of these days Kenji!
We need more of these bagel shops!
Wish anyone around us had any passion for bagels. In my little town, we have a Panera...and grocery stores. Thanks, as always, for sharing.

I too love your videos! The bagels look great...
outfit looking clean as hell
2:20 "Are these the best bagels in Seattle? Maybe."

It happens pretty frequently! Usually people talk to me before or after but I don’t mind either way. It’s all casual.
oh man I wish we could get a bagel shop like that out in Kitsap
Now I have a reason to go to U Vill 😊 I wish they had lox/veggies too
Fantastic news - I have been craving something like this. Lok Smith is decent but could be better- so having some other strong choices really makes for a better community all in all
I’ve been buying these from Andrew out of the back of a truck in parking lots, and they’re even better from the shop.
Oh no! We just got back from a long weekend in Seattle and the kids are in a bagel phase. I guess I know where we have to go next time we’re in town.

I love Blazing Bagel’s Bacon Cheddar Chive bagel but I no longer buy them that often anymore (no stores near me in Lynnwood).
Enlightening
I was really skeptical of the whole "no toaster" thing until you cracked one open and it was piping hot

It pulls out moisture and also traps moisture from the air which pools on the surface and then gets absorbed into the crust turning it soft.

Eltana in Cap hill isn’t bad but damn these look really good
I need this near me.
Do they have scallion cream cheese? I've been looking for that NY bagel experience

The eh have both scallion and lox cream cheese. As well as some
Sweet one. I think Nutella. They had just run out of scallion when I got there though.

For the longest time I thought his name was J kenji-lopez alt. Now I know I'm stupid and I've been missing out on the main channel the whole time
The best bagels in Seattle
I'm not a fan of caraway in an everything bagel, too much anise flavor - definitely checking this place out, thanks for the video

I shouldn’t have watched this damn, I’m hungry now. Might try out courage bagels though!
