    The pillow section is hilarious. This definitely describes my camp experience every single time. (The old fish out of water) I didn’t see your recommended link 🔗
    Best of luck ❤

      I don't have an affiliate link to that exact pillow but I'm working on it! It's crazy how much of a difference a pillow makes while backpacking

    Well, for the peeing problems, have a look at what the sea kayakers are using... There are option for males and females. Not having to leave the tent for answering nature call, is a big bonus in the winter or when it is raining hard!

    I had to settle for the larger Treckology pillow. This will be my second pillow purchased from them. Let’s hope this works.

    never actually slept in a sleeping bag camping. my dad has my grandpas old WWII cots so we always took those. like sleeping on a rock but they work. 😅

      I've always wanted to try sleeping on an old cot like that! That sounds like a lot of fun. As long as it doesn't feel like sleeping on rocks lol

    I partially deflate my sleeping pad. A fully inflated pad can be way too firm. A partially deflated pad can better conform to your body. Lay on it while slowly deflating and do not deflate too much where parts of your body (hips, etc) feel the ground under the pad.
    Test at home. Get used to your sleep system before hitting the trail.

    5:50 I think you're making a generalization about temperature ratings on bags that isn't necessarily valid. It's important to distinguish between bags that have a comfort rating versus a survival rating. Bags that are rated for survival would not be comfortable at the temperature specified. Comfort rated bags should be comfortable.
    I have a 20° top quilt from UGQ and I was toasty warm at overnight lows that hovered right around that mark. UGQ and many of the other cottage brands that make quilts use comfort ratings, not survival ratings.

      PS Hammocks FTW. Far less concern about level ground. No worries about sleeping pad failure. No worries about leaking bathtub floor or lying in a depressed area and waking up in a pond. No rolling off your pad. As long as you have a decent under quilt, comfy and cozy.

      @@strangerous1313 The video is called "Sleep better while backpacking". Earplugs improve my sleep while camping. I don't hear every single leaf rustle or twig snap in the forest around me.

    Hi! Did you made a review for each and every gear that you showed here? Cause I would’ve like to saw a review especially for that quilt! I’m saying this because from what I’ve heard about quilts from Lightening equipment, they are not so good; because of its baffles construction!
    The down feathers tends to fall/ move side to side inside the buffle chamber; and because of that you are forced to arrange it almost every time!
    And by the way, I didn’t expect to see someone using that sleeping pad model from Big Agnes; because it seems a pretty old version, but still good! 👍 and a little bit heavier! (And o, not to forget; have you ever slept in a hammock?)
    By the way, what iPhone model are you using; and how much does your battery last per day?

    • @AlexHatlevig
      @AlexHatlevig  3 місяці тому

      Hey! Thanks for watching! I unfortunately haven’t reviewed all of these products yet. Partially because yes, my sleeping pad is an older model BA pad and not on the market, and for some reason I never thought to review the EE quilt lol but maybe I will after my upcoming backpacking trip. I’ve honestly never used a hammock for sleeping. Since I sleep on my stomach, I figured I would be too uncomfortable. I have an iPhone 13 mini which I like! But the battery doesn’t last as long as full-size phones. With typical use I have to charge it once every day.

    As for #5…embrace the tent pee bottle. Ladies, a wide mouth bottle or pee funnel works great.

  • @tonywillingham8109
    @tonywillingham8109 3 місяці тому +3

    No no no. Pitch your tent on that slight decline, with the head end higher, and use your empty pack to slightly elevate the foot end of your sleeping pad. Sleeping on totally flat ground is terrible if you are a side sleeper. Iphone leveler? That's ridiculous unless your iPhone is 6 feet long.

  • @Avivush

    Don't forget to have a pee bottle in your tent

    With 40 years camping behind me keep away from quilts their over rated just a over priced gimmick, believe me.

    • @Tryinghardtobecreative
      @Tryinghardtobecreative 3 місяці тому +2

      Nope. Your 40 years haven’t taught you to be open minded!
      Different strokes for different folks. I sleep sooooo much better with a quilt instead of a sleeping bag. They are also much more multi functional.
      And how can a quilt be a gimmick??! They have literally been used for tens of thousands of years!

    • @michaelpenney3775
      @michaelpenney3775 3 місяці тому

      no just fully open your sleeping bag and save £200 , over rated and over priced obviously you've fallen for the quilt gimmick.

    • @Tryinghardtobecreative
      @Tryinghardtobecreative 3 місяці тому

      @@michaelpenney3775😂😂 again, depends on which bag and which quilt you are comparing.
      Most modern bags don't fully open at the foot box, so your suggestion isnt always valid.
      My sleeping bag and quilt were the same price. (Give or take). I haven't spent one night in my sleeping bag since buying the quilt.
      You don't have to sleep under a quilt, You can continue enjoying the great outdoors in your 40 year old bag. Everyone's a winner. 👌
