Hugs to this outstanding lady. The Lynotts are indeed a special family. In 2012, the family including Mrs Lynott told US senator Mitt Romney to stop using the song "The Boys Are Back In Town" as a campaign anthem. The gall that Mitt would use the song as a political tool without permission was very distasteful. Philomena died June 12, 2019, age 88.
She wss such a lovely lady and a wonderful mother. It's the hardest thing in the world, to lose your son . Especially, whenever he's also your best friend. Its good that she had her grandchildren to love and to have her realize she still had reasons to live. How joyful her soul must have felt, whenever she was reunited with him again.
This is a very touching, thought provoking, relatable interview. It reminds me very much of my relationship with my own mum. She died in July 2016 at the tragically young age of 59. Like Phil’s mum, my mum had me young too (she was only 17), and she was my best friend too. A mother, a big sister and a best friend all in one. When you lose an immediate family member so young, it changes you forever. I’ve come to terms with my mother’s passing now after eight years, but it’s really hard. Especially when they die so young…in my mother’s case she died through no fault of her own, she was just really unlucky…
I know Phil was a great singer and bass player. The best as a matter of fact . Phil Lynott is looking from up above smiling. " REST IN PEACE" my friend n fan!!!
I remember when this was televised it was the first anniversary of his death I'm happy they both back together again this always makes me cry I will miss you always miss you Phyllis
To think I’ve put my own mother through things like this due to the same drug, heroin is an absolute scourge, 20 years of on and off using, I haven’t been a daily heroin user for years now, and I have it once to twice a month nowadays, I guess I still can’t shake that grim fascination with death and darkness and provoking the reaper. Sad thing to get into, 20 years ago I liked it for the escape and the peace, and in the end you do it to escape the fact that you’ve become sad and isolated, and it kills the pain of the true reflection of what you’ve become.
@MDS177 i dont think i cried as much when my father died than when phil did, anger that he`d gone so young and pain was so bad, he was my hero ,role model and hero and i love the man with all my heart,i now play bass because of him and play a few of his songs every gig, will be coming over to dublin soon to see his grave again, never to be forgotten, thanks philomena
@al66uk Sorry to hear of your loss....... "I cried the night the king died " , "King's Call ". Well I cried the night that Phil died. Such a loss to all of us. May he Rest in Peace..........

A mother shouldn't have to go through that but she's amazing for getting through that. A strong and amazing person.
