Those Robins are gonna be a rockin around the Christmas tree, they are astounding and the settings are just so perfect for them, I would say au naturel for the hole but I can just see the inside of the pot gilded and glowing. Amazing! 🤩 either one will just look right at home on my shelf nudge nudge, etc.
Love these cracking little birds, so well thought out. No gild on the log one and definitely gild champagne gold on the pot. Another project absolutely spot on.
I have just watched the making of the Robin, it’s impressive as normal, again you make it look easy. To think the Robin starts with 3 separate pieces of wood. There is so much detail and so much craftsmanship. I often wonder how you get these ideas. Do you suddenly get an image in your head and just safe it? I often watch the Robins in the wild but could never do a painting or any artwork as I can’t picture them in my mind, that would be aphantasia which I have. You have a gift and I am glad you use it. Look forward to your next piece. Well done mate.
Thank you my good sir 👍 ALOT of the ideas come from the wood! That Macacauba I was lucky enough to get some off, reminded me of the colour of a robins chest, and the idea is born! Mull it over a bit, maybe sketch it on a scrap bit of paper and start it when next convenient! I’ve got a wonderful idea of a female and a male turned humanoid sculpture, I’ve got the wood, the strong idea, but need to finished some other works that are currently in progress before I can start them 😔
Beautiful, and I really enjoyed watching the method of creation, very interesting. As for the gilding, I'm not sure, thinking about it I would say no, leave them natural, they are distinctive enough as they are
I’d say unguilded by hey are stunning as is. If guiding was something needed maybe half the back of the “pot” on the second piece shown to bounce some light and still keep the plain wood more visible. Or an interesting pattern inside the pot. Not sure how would do that. Maybe using the cutting tape they use on car wrap so then could feel off after and crease crisp lines after guilding. But still thing plain is best in this occasion. Superb work
Every one of your videos I think to myself "OH NO don't gild that beautiful wood!" But after I see the final project complete with the gilding it's clear that it was the right move. So gild away.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thank you! Alas I think the no gilding is winning out! Though there is support for the plant pot inner to be gilded 😁 so that may still get enough votes 😁 🎅🏽
Hi Doug. English or Irish Bog Oak isn’t available in Canada? I imagine it is somewhere, but it’ll be as pricey as Ebony I’d imagine 🤔. It’s a shame, I was in Vancouver a few months ago, I could have packed some in my suitcase 🤣 Might try a white wash next time I make one of these 🤔 Thank you 🙏
Great craftsmanship beautiful and very well thought out I loved them, just the wings are all wrong for me those sharp edges don't sit well with me, please take this comment in the respectful manner it was intended tastes differ, so from one craftsman to another grat job and another subscriber
Hi Frank, totally understood sir. Twas my first attempt at making birds. Had the idea in my head, the angles etc from looking at pictures of robins, I worked it over in my head before sketching it out on a bit of paper. The wings could do with some carving, but they represent for now. May make some more and change the wings next time 😁👍 Thank you for subscribing - I look forward to future comments 😀
Wow thats a Amazing the Robin you made very beautiful.
Thank you Lee, I am very pleased you liked it 😁

Hey Mike thanks buddy! You’re the first to comment on the gilding 👍 Vote counted, it’s still very up in the air if they will or won’t be gilded 😶
Wow that’s amazing Dick, you have some talent 😊
Awwww shucks! Thanks James! You gonna make one in the new year?

I think you may be right! Thank you sis 🤗 ❤️
I’m often told that 😜oh or was it the part of the comment about it fitting in perfectly at my house, Christmas pressie me thinks ❤
Love these cracking little birds, so well thought out. No gild on the log one and definitely gild champagne gold on the pot. Another project absolutely spot on.
Thank you Super 😉 Your vote has been counted - speak later today mate 👍👍❤️
These are fun! Leave them without the gilding, in my opinion.
Pretty little things me thinks! Thats 2 for no gilding 👍👍👍
Hi Richard. Absolutely amazing. Such a beautiful pair of robins so life like. Cheers 🇦🇺
☺️☺️ Thank you John, one of Lenore’s favourites! 👍 🏴
They both look beautiful, I really can't make up my mind about to gild them, maybe it would make them look less natural, if you know what I mean 🤔
That was Lenore’s thinking! 🤔
Putting you down as stuck on the fence!
Thank you for your kind words too sir 🤗
Amazing work again Rich, in love with these!! I would say gild the inside of the pot but not the log.
You’ve been talking to Suzi clearly! Cause he said the same! Peas in a pod you two 🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️
Richard! Amazing work as usual! Out of the box work!
I like to stay outside the box as often as I can, it gets a bit stinky and claustrophobic in there otherwise 😉 🤗
Absolutely gorgeous Rick. Top video 👌🏻
Thanks Joe and a Happy New Year 🥳 to you!

One of my favourites, but then my most recent makes always are 😁❤️
Also....wow on the teeny tiny turnings of the eyes and beaks.
It’s just what I normally do, but a bit smaller 😁👍
Impressive, and great quality of wood!
Thank you kindly Mulder Project 😊😊😁
Utter genius!
🤣🤣🤣👍❤️
Just perfect as they are
Awww, thank you 🤩 👍
No gilding - natural . Great bird!
Thank you kindly 👍 I did end up gilding the inside of the pot, but none in the other one 😁👍
Brilliant work my wife has been asking me to make a robin for years hopefully you don’t mind if I borrow your idea and make her one ,if I can
Not at all! If anything I’d be honoured if you used this design ☺️☺️☺️ Best of luck 👍👍
@@WoodWithD thank you very much
Love it, no gilding for me
Cheers Tim 😁 🎅 😁

I’m tending toward gilding the inside of the plant pot too! I’ll give a few more commenters a chance at voting 👍❤️
no guilding. They look great
Thank you Mike 😁😁👍
Beautiful, I love it. But I the wings I think would look better if you rounded 😊 not the end though.
You are right, someone else suggested the same. To be fair, they’re the first I’ve made, and defo room for improvement 👍😁👍

Too late now but a white wash might go well inside the big oak. How would we get something like that in Canada?

How CUTE!!!! Please do NOT guild. They are perfect without the bling.
Looking like you’ll get your way with the votes as they currently are. Just needs some wax then 😁👍
@@WoodWithD yaay!!! I get my way for a change.
птичка сделана на отлично , но крылья , что мужику женское платье - вообще не личат .
Yes, I agree! The wings need to be much better 👍👍👍
