The orchids I treated today are: Dendrobium Kultana Fancy, Burana Sundae and Burana Greenstar.
After the affected portions of the orchid are removed and everything is cleaned, I am going to repot the orchid in semi hydroponics. here is how I go about it:

Amazing video today, thank you so much for filming this! It's like I knew most stuff from your other videos of course, but you say something sometimes that makes me think differently or something I hadn't been doing right! Plus it's interesting to see you've potted them straight into semi hydro even with few roots. I'm currently trying to save lots of dendrobiums from my local Ikea that likes to try murder them but I do my best to salvage some and the rest are for learning!

I had to watch the other video on how to identify the plant...good so far, so when I purchased at the store today on sale, it was dry dry dry. I brought it home put it under the sink and just 6 hrs later, they've taken on new look..Tomorrow need to see what medium I will need to use...This video will be step 1..I am new to orchids, so I know NOTHING about them except I learned on the phalaenopisis my neighbor gave me to rescue so had to look at several videos to learn. Will do the same here. Thanks so much for the details...very important.

bought one of these from a discount bin; all but one leaf have turned yellow and wrinkly but the pseudobulbs are very firm so hopefullly it all goes fine
Hi Dani! I have a Sonia 'Bom Jo Red dendrobium Orchid that is 25 years old, maybe 30. In my neglect to learn more about these orchids, several years ago I cut off some of the canes that had the dried sheaths on them thinking there was something wrong with it. I know, I want to slap myself. Anyway I'm trying to be a better Orchid parent and take care of these beautiful plants that I have. I have one original cane left and a small green cane that came off of it at the bottom. The one large cane has two leaves on it and they have some dark edges and a slight dark spot on the end of one of them. The small newer green cane has two tiny leaves and one is kind of curled but the other id not but has a little dryness at the end. I see new growth at the bottom of the pseudobulb. Hoping to save this one. I have repotted it but I think it needs a smaller pot. Just found something around the house and poked holes in it! Wish I could send photos but it doesn't let me on here apparently. Does this sound like it has a bacterial infection like you suggest in this video? Or is there a place I can send you photos? Please help! Love your videos!

Hi Danny my sick dendrobium also got this cure but unfortunately the two leaves left felt i guess because it has no roots then after about 1 month i got the surprise of 3 keikies with roots. thnk u 😚

This happended to one of my Brassovola nodosa order. i paid 600 ruppees for a specimen it arrived late and then one after the leaves started falling off. now i am left with only a small division. A newgrowth is growing with 2 leafs it is a bifoliate brassovila !😄

How do you determine which root is rotten? In contrast to phenalopsis, the dandrobiums have white roots so I don’t know which ones to cut. Thanks for all your amazing videos!!
Hi. Great video. I wanted to ask you what you recommend me to do as one on my dendrobium phalenopsis’ new pseudobulb is growing down . I didn’t notice before so it is about an inch and a half long into the media. I thought to put it into a new pot just in the middle to see if it decides to go up eventually but it is very thick and strong. As it is the last pseudobulb to continue the surcival of the whole plant I don’ t know if another would grow out.
Is yellowing around the rings of the pseudo bulb always a sign of a bacterial infection, I just recently purchased a kingianum, and it was pretty dry, but the leaves looked great, I disinfected the orchid, but do I know have to cut away the pseudo bulbs?
This is very helpful. I purchased an dendrobium orchid online with a warm pack but still the delivery was delayed and its has significant cold damage. Soft yellowish green leaves and soft pseudobulbs. The mother pseudobulb is hard at the base. Some leaves are wilted but showing very little brown. No infection seems to be present. I re-potted (roots were good - last week) including treating with peroxide and place in a bright window. Any advice to save the orchid? My main question is do I removed or cut back the soft pseudobulbs? Learned my lesson no purchasing during the winter months. Thanks in advance Dani!
Greta video ty for sharing. If you only have one mushy cane and the rest of the plant looks good, do you need to completely unlit the orchid? Or can you just clip the one down and seal it?

I got a mini phal and it had big mushy circles on two of the leaves. So I cut them as soon as possible (right when I got home. The phal was red so I had to save it from ugliness.🙃😋
My dendrobium are very tall they have Kakies coming out at the middle of the canes should I cut the canes and repot them or leave them.
Interesting , but I wiil give you a hint about the alkohol. I have worked at a loboratorium, and we used 70% alkohol, because I desinfect better than higher percentage😉.

How can you get rid of ants on orchids plants?
Is it true that the dendrobium orchids originated from the wild? If it is, then they continue to survive/thrive despite being surrounded by various and numerous jungle bacteria since the time they were discovered and later on domesticated hence, orchids and bacteria have symbiosis relationship.
Errr.. Ok, all these orchids, or their ancestors in the case of hybrids, exist in various teritories of the world. Just like any plant on earth they will be affected by some microbes, not affected by some and get benefits from others. It's incorrect to say 'domesticated', but rather grown in cultivation. There are hundreds of thousands of wild orchid species and houndreds of thousands more obtained hybrids. Not sure if that answers your question, but I hope so ☺️

Doesn't H2O2 only kill anaerobic bacteria since they do not have catalase to break down hydrogen peroxide :0 Doesnt fizzing means that the microorganisms produce catalase to break down the H2O2 and produce oxygen as a result ?
:) you have an idea there but a bit mixed up. Not anaerobic, aerobic, they have catalase. Anaerobic bacteria are not commonly found in oxigen rich environments, such as on orchids, or in the air ;)

hey Danni, interesting video and helpful for dendrobium repotting , at the same time i've been wondering a lot about this youtuber's video , he talks about the consistency of orchid medium , his name is orchid baba ua-cam.com/video/cY46AyIVAPU/v-deo.html, i think you both say the same thing roughly about how semi hydro does give a lot of aeration but he maintains at the end of his hypothesis that combining seramis and leca is a huge mistake as it doesn't leave that much air. I was wondering since it's a video about dendrobiums and i put leca in my pots for aeration as well as growstone , i was wondering would you do your own review on this vid? And discuss about the issue of combining leca to your pot? only if you still lived in a temperate climate? is he wrong or is he right? is it harmless to add these two mediums? maybe use large leca beads only? or large seramis? I've been thinking about this for months , and i still can't decide if he is right , and maybe you can have interesting thoughts on it ! xoxo L.
Hi, I cannot review other people's opinions :) but I can tell you mine. Yes seramis diminishes air pockets, that can be good, or bad. SH relies on the air gaps, no air gaps, no proper sh, but something else. If less air is desired then seramis is an option. It's like mixing moss and bark, moss reduces air gaps, but it's not bad for everyone. I personally don't mix them, but as I was saying in today's video, I won't stress over removing all the seramis either ;)
thanks for your answer Danni! i think its probably a good idea to not get into saying if you like or dislike someone's video , but in your previous videos when you were i n Romania you recommend for growing dendrobiums to add leca to inorganic medium to provide greater aeration whereas this youtuber says combining the two cuts the air off , which for dendrobiums would make it longer to dry out between watering, its what i think... he doesn't focus so much on semi hydro just more on the physics of aerating between particles. i was wondering what your stance is , do you agree with what he says ? or still think its good to put leca ? i'm sensing you think its ok .. but i just wanted to see what you think. i'm trying to figure out still how often i need to water still in my environment!
Ok so hope I got it right :p seramis purely dries slower than leca and seramis, which dries slower than just leca. Beasides the particle shape you also have porosity and seramis retains much more water, you cannot ignore it as it would be wrong to ignore details pertinent in the duration of the.. dry out lol. More seramis = more water. Addition of leca ads air imo because of its round shape which can create gaps in combination with the straight seramis shapes (the bigger seramis that is). Rectangles (seramis shape kinda) compact a lot more if they are not disrupted by spheres.. makes sense? :P that's what I think.
yes , makes sense i thought the same thing! the bigger the seramis the more chances for better aeration ... i incidentally i use growstone which takes half the time of seramis to dry but i'm using the small kind , so on my next purchase of growstone i'm thinking of getting the chunks which are bigger and adding them to the mix.
