Y'all. This video just saved my life. I work at a dealer and have this as a used car with the same issue and ive been freaking out about having to fix this. This video showed me its not bad at all. And gave me some tips too. Thanks.
This week I am going to do this exact repair, so this video is great. My customer was quoted $550 parts and labor for replacement of the whole pump. In my opinion (I'm a DIYer) this is how many shops operate - replacement only, never repair. The o-ring cost is $2.50. Not faulting shop business, but it's surely nice to know alternate ways to correct a problem without having to break the bank. Thank you for this video.
Excellent video - THANKS! I did the vacuum pump o-ring on a friend’s car just now. Dealer wanted $980 but because of this video, I did it for $3 and a couple hours. NOTE to others who attempt this... if you have big hands, the rear, bottom bolt is a pain to get inserted due to firewall. Alain Gillot ( below ) suggested removing MAF and an air tube to access this bolt. I didn’t see the comment until after I finished the job. If there is a next time, I might try removing those items. Also, be careful you don’t drop those bolts or your tools. They may go down to the underbody panel or they may not.
Thanks You Very much for quick response to my questions !! PCV valve has been replaced as well, the leak is coming round vacuum pump , is there a possible head gasket leaking or valve gasket ?thanks again!
Brother same car i have a vacuum sound coming from brake booster inside the dash (the soud gone once i presse the brake pedal ) how can i make sure that is break booster failure or the vacuum pump or this sound related to the bad break pads
Thanks very much for this tutorial! When I replaced the part, I put the old bolts back on, but two aren't getting very tight. I can turn them right a lot, but they never fully tighten. Any pointers? Is the C300 safe to drive?
My 2010 Mercedes c300 started making a clicking sound and giving white smoke upon acceleration. Mercedes dealer says I have a bad Vacuum pump and a centrifuge cover leak. Any input?
I would check the cam plugs and valve covers to make sure there are no more leaks. I have videos on Mercedes oil leak and cam plugs on my website at www.howtoautomotive.com you can check out. Just go to video page and and click on search bar and type in Mercedes and all my videos will pop up. Thank you for watching!!
Kyle Mosier you can look around to see if there is a rebuild kit available online. I have a link in the description of the video for a new pump if that will help.
PLEASE HELPP!!!! 2010 c300 4matic sport CEL CAME ON! To rich to lean and misfires! I changed the MAF SENSOR & engine air filter. Light popped back on ! Thought it would be fuel injectors changed fuel injectors! Light popped back on ! NOW I scanned at autozone for oxygen sensors! I replaced all o2 sensors & all spark plugs! THE CEL LIGHT POPPED BACK ON AND CODES STILL SAY MISFIRE & too rich to lean! But everything is brand new what could this bee?!?!?
I have a 2006 MB C230 Sport. it continues leaking oil from the vacuum pump before and after I replaced the seal. I have changed also cam plugs.Any advice on this matter greatly appreciated !!
How to Automotive. I have an 08 c300 and I did replace the seal put it back on and still a small leak seams to be coming from bottom back plate of pump now, and I seen a seal kit that contains a small inner seal and a larger outer seal
Brian Green I've never resealed the Mercedes pump but it sounds like the small seal is for outer part of the Pump and the larger seal is for the back cover of the Pump.
How to Automotive Hi, yes I just replaced all the cam plugs and pcv valve. I ran my fingers under the pump and it was wet with some oil. But I will check again in a few days. Thanks

How much oil was leaking from the car
I hid changed the vacuum seal with out having any problem, in the reference to your video, very helpful !Great video!
Do you find this also will address a vacuum pump that’s low on vacuum?
Perfect video and thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching!

B Mirena more likely a valve cover gasket. Hard to say without seeing it.
That's true, thank you for your time on their matter!

Where did you buy the o-ring?

Thanks for the very quick reply. Adsit Company is quoting me the part right now.
$2.45 from FCP Euro.
I have a car like this and when I give it the gas it does not catch more than 5.5 laps. could it be the vacuum pump?
Mileage? was there a CEL or fuel economy drop? Just wondering you came to this discover this...

I would recommend you start with a compression test. Also with misfires you can plug the cat and cause additional those fires.
Nice 👍👍

B Mirena I would replace the PCV valve. It's on the opposite cylinder head. It's In the same position as the vacuum pump just on other cylinder head.
I was told there is a larger seal on the outer side as well maybe leaking from that one also
Brian Green that's for models with out a vacuum pump.

How to Automotive . what I'm trying to say is I was told there are two seals in this vacuum pump
How to Automotive. yes that's what I meant .I guess I will try it out again and see if it is an outer seal as well . thanks for the video and you help
thank you man...and subscribe
othman alshammeri thank you for watching and subscribing!
For the CGI 200
So I replaced my vacuum pump new. And it’s still leaking. All screws are tight. Any ideas anyone? Thanks
jonathan susana it may not be the vacuum pump it could be the cam plug right next to it. Also the PCV valve on the opposite side cylinder head.

remove the air mass sensor and the plastic *90 deg air tube under , this mak e the bottom screw removal easy .
Alain Gillot thank you for the tip 👍🏻
