Flags will be a good visual, but sink metal discs on property corners into the ground that a metal detector can find. As years go by you will be glad that you have the sunk markers that are permanent. Yeah, be real careful on weight driving on Septic-especially on drain fields.
Looking good & a nice start to make your home.👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Eric Eric, my advice is to Pink tape off your septic field so that it is clearly visible to anyone who may be on your property invited or not. Better safe than sorry. All the best chop.

I agree don't have anything over the septic.

We have a septic tank and our propane tank is nearby. Far enough to not be an issue when we had to replace it (it was old when we moved here) and close enough to keep people from driving over it. Well there is space for our lawn mower to drive over, but nothing heavier than that. And our place is old enough that we have a pipe that goes from the septic tank to the drain field.
You definitely do not want to put anything major over your tank. Especially when you will have to do any repair, replacement or maintenance on the tank. Don't put anything that you don't want to dig up, move or destroy.
As for digging deep well for drinking water. My folks had to dig a deeper well when they moved their house outside of city limits about 60 years ago. Mainly because they kept hitting alkali water so they had to go deeper to get to good water. And they did have really good tasting water 👍
All in all, enjoy your new place and have fun figuring out where you want everything to go

You may want to consider getting some drone shots of the property - could make it easier to decide where you want to put buildings, etc. You've got a lot of work ahead of you but it'll be worth it when you have you own place, and a real sense of accomplishment. Kevin is a great friend you can lean on and learn from - he's a blessing in your life.

Your video was 1000% better than the previous video so keep it up and also keep us updated as far as the progress on your Arizona compound. Also, with the chance of fire at your neighborhood, I think you need to up your water tank from 500 gallons to 1000 gallons so that you can have some water to help put the fires out instead of waiting for a tanker truck to come outta put the fire out just a thought so have a good day.

You mean if he is there. If he continues to travel he could be away if there is wildfire. Best thing to do is to remove the fuel a fire needs to spread or at least create a buffer zone a wildfire can't cross.

    WELCOME HOME!!!!!!
There is NOTHING nicer than having a foundation, a home base.
The older you get the more that connection means, and you've got a NICE little property, a REALLY nice little home-base.
I hope you get a chance to build on it the way you want, and maybe eventually put a small home so you have the option of the RV and a stable home environment.
I like your area because at that altitude you're not going to have the heat as much!
Looking forward to all the cool things you're going to do to your property, so let that be a part of your videos...❤

Hey Eric. I've watched a guy on UA-cam in the past build a homestead in Arizona with his wife and a tiny home. He built a rain roof and collected all that water from the monsoons and also built a kick a** solar panel power station using used tesla batteries. His channel is handeeman. Just search handeeman rain roof or handeeman tiny house solar

Eric, I am so excited to see your new home taking shape. I must admit I've been eagerly anticipating this new chapter in your life. Yes, the travel is wonderful, but it's fascinating to see that you are embarking on yet another adventure. How fun! Just as I have enjoyed watching Kevin develop his property, I look forward to watching yours. With all that sun, solar will be a wonderful resource. BTW, I am one that did enjoy the long versions of your blogs, so even though UA-cam was appreciating, there are plenty of us that liked them! Its a good idea for you to take a break and recharge. This will be an exhilarating change for you, so live it to the fullness. Don't be discouraged or defeated by jealous assholes. You have seen enough to recognize them for what they are. As for UA-cam, put their greed out of your mind and know that you are appreciated. Toil away as you like, because the rest of us will love it. Best of luck! Kiss the kitties for me!

Eric, I'm going to mention something to keep you from having headaches later. I realize that you need to conserve water living in the desert and in an off grid situation, but keep in mind that the septic system needs fluid to run correctly. You have to have adequate fluid to deal with the solids that is dumped into the tank. My advice would be to funnel rain water into the system purposely....

  • @Agent-jj4cc
    @Agent-jj4cc Рік тому +7

Yeah, I was worried about anything on top of the septic tank. Fence it off so no mistakes are made and plant native flowers or something. This is looking to fun to watch! New beginnings!

Your property looks very nice. I would want it fenced in too. People try to cut and push onto another's property. I like the use of the pink tape so you can visibly see your property lines. In the event, someone cut them or took them down, could you spray the ground a little inside so you could still see it irregardless until you get a fence put in.
The water tank will be so nice. Maybe the area where you can't drive could be where you have a fire pit for when your friends come to visit.

A good tip for you. I started with raw land in Alaska and as the area built up I put a fence up 3' INSIDE of my true property line. That keeps anyone from putting stuff next to the fence! Worked once when a jerk neighbor tried playing games. Showed the state trooper my survey and the fence companies notes, etc. Neighbor was told one more time and he would be in deep doo. Just sayin.

The best thing you can do with a new septic is to get the biological activity started. The advice I always got was buy one of those large bags of the cheapest dog food you can find and add it to your tank. Also in future if anybody using it is on Chemo or radiation treatments add those biological additives to it because those meds will kill the septic. Good luck

  • @maryellencook9528
    @maryellencook9528 Рік тому +2

You might want to consider getting a second tank in the future. I would put it by the blue box and put a rain catchment system on it like what Kevin is planning for his tiny house.
You also will want to chip, burn or whatever is allowed in your county with all of that cut cedar/juniper brush. That stuff is a major fire hazard.

Depending on how that cleared area for the septic field sits it may be a good place for your solar panels. We did that with our the frame that holds them sits on 8 concrete piers (sonotubes that go down to frost line as we are much further north). In your case you may be able to get away with using precast concrete blocks that sit on the surface. Its a nice wide open area open to sky without anything that will contribute debris to the panels. only downside would be the length or cabling required, but you already have a nice cleared and graded area. You can even use the concrete blocks the sell at HD or Lowes for deck footing and do a pressure treated solar frame, those weigh about 50lb a piece so they wont compact the surface too badly and enough bolted to the solar frame will keep it in place even in high wind. I would also second upsizing to a 1000 gal tank.

I liked this style of vid. Would be cool to see a some drone footage of your property with the pink lines drawn out, would be a cool visual. Pretty excited to see what you do with the place.
If possible, talk down the price and buy the adjacent property, nothing worse than neighbors...it's VERY hard to find good ones, even if you put em there yourselves.
I'd consider investing in trees, shade around the house helps tremendously with cooling, even if you are planning on pure solar for power. There's a youtuber named Will Prowse who does nothing but pure solar and All-In-One Solar Inverter reviews, could be a good resource for building a 24/7 unit.
Also invest in things that can handle harsh sun and reduce sun damage, cause your area is gonna get a bunch of it!

I'd pick up some rebar, and pound four in around each septic vent. Painted brightly, to make it easier for folks to drive over them. And then find some kind of thorn bushes to plant around them, waiting patiently for them to grow in.
Works better than any fence or post.

We went through your property development over 20 years ago. The septic was $3,000, 240 foot well was $6,800. Four years ago we had 40 325 watt solar panels ground mounted, off grid. $60 a panel is a bargain. I bet SanTan was involved down in Gilbert. Eric, I'm glad your mental and emotional stuff has settled down. I bet you get a lot of viewers watching you develop out that property, Full time RVing is fun, I did it for seven years, but eventually you need a home base. I'll be watching.

Eric.....a suggestion....string from the corners...follow the string and every so often drive a 24" rebar stake below ground surface. Then if you ever need to find or re-find or prove the line and in case the corners get pulled then a metal detector will find you property line...not absolutely necessary, but can be helpful in the future...and pretty cheap to do...

We also have a couple acres there, and while we haven’t done anything with it yet, it’s sure a pretty area and I’m really happy for you! You’re making great improvements on it and hopefully you’ll enjoy that area. We have family in St Johns and Springerville, people are really nice there. Watch out for those darn cactus, they hide easy and are very painful!!

Good video. Looking forward to seeing what you do with your property. Yes, I would also put up some steel posts and run some thin rope or plastic chain between them so you can really see the property lines.

I’ve been a long time subscriber and I’ve watched a vast majority of all your videos. I think you’re making wise decisions. I just hope you don’t quit UA-cam. I actually don’t like many UA-cam van lifers or road travelers. I always enjoy your videos for your quirky sense of humor and unique travels. I’m positive you can make roots in Arizona and morph your Chanel into something more exciting.
