Suggestion if you please. Buy a battery sawzall with wood blade. Will cut juniper with no problems. A chainsaw especially electric will dull the chain with all of the dirt in them. Trust me from experience 👍
That is what I use as well works great. However my electric chainsaw works for the bigger parts of the juniper when I have to cut the whole thing down to free the pine trees.
I suggest being liberal in the use of chain oil. And chainsaw chains can be sharpened. It helps to have a couple extra chains. You don’t want to have cutting to do and no sharp chain. 👍
I don't know about the rest of your viewers, but I personally am looking forward to seeing more videos of you developing your property. I look forward to seeing what you do with it. 🙂
I think Eric often underestimates how many of us greatly enjoy watching him do DIY projects and just taking it easy. Life doesn't always have to be about visiting quirky tourist locations
I am so happy for you! Your land and all the improvements you have made thus far are simply spectacular. I love seeing your beautiful smile, as well as the loving interaction you have with your kitties. I am living vicariously through your videos. Take care.
Thanks for posting Eric, good to see that smile again, we would sure miss you if you stop posting. Love to see you building your nomad camp and homestead. Hope to see you back in Florida this winter. Maybe we can meet up in auburndale when you get back to Florida. Love’s in auburndale has built an overnight Rv parking full hook ups, you should do a review on that lol!
Howdy Eric: I live off grid and the one thing I am glad I have. A wind generator. It is the best way to keep the batteries up in the winter and occasionally cloudy days in the spring/summer. Nothing like making full power on a windy night. Happiness is contagious. Keep smiling
Taking a break from your normal traveling seems to be just what you needed. You definitely look more relaxed. Can't wait to see what you do to the property.
I love these type of improvement videos you do. I'm full-time RVer and someday i need to think about my exit strategy. Choosing a place to land that provides all the freedoms i love. Owning land is always a great choice. Good luck!
It looks great to see you so happy, Eric. I'm looking forward to seeing you all set up at new basecamp and everything you will do to make it home for you, Tara, and Opie. Take care and enjoy.
few will appreciate all the little steps it takes in preparation for reaching your goals. You will change your mind many times and still wish you had've done whatever when all is done, so don't let your 'To Do List' overwhelm you..We are excited for you, enjoy the journey ! THank you for sharing.
When we lived in Utah I had a 300 gallon tank in the truck and a 1200 gallon sunken tank behind the home, the water would gravity flow from the truck to the big tank. The down spout in town would fill the 300 gallon tank in about a minute and a sears water pump pumped it from the big tank into the home. The system worked well cuz I went to town every day anyway.
Good video brother. Glad to see you focus on the property at this point. There you'll find and maintain your peace. Yeah, projects and problems will happen but again it's your problem with solutions you can control not a road hazard, closed business and loss of time and gas going to places so much. I don't have a YT channel, but you're doing exactly as I am planning to do in Florida. Who knows YT might be a direction I take. Me and my buddy have a basecamp (2 acres) in Wilcox, AZ, but I live in Florida and want one here too. Adventure on my friend.
I second the recip saw with a pruning blade. It works much better for pruning, which is what you are doing. Right now, Home Depot has Ryobi days going on. You can get (2) 4 ah batteries, a charger, and a recip saw for only $99.
Outstanding Progress! Eric, please post more vids on your progress on a regular basis on your home land in my home state of Arizona! I'm now in the IL and WI area...but miss the AZ sun!. How exciting to have your own land.! I did notice that most RV families are also setting up a home base off grid just like you! This should be a regular update for us in your YT family! Kudos! So Proud of You!
Take it from a country girl: Use those pavers in 2 strips to drive onto for your trailer and RV. Gives stability when it rains and the ground gets soft, and you can level them as required. I'm very excited to see your improvements to the property!
Pretty fun getting everything set up!! I used those water tanks when I was cooking for 'out in the bush' tree planting camps in northern BC. I had 3 that a water truck came and filled up that supplied my semi truck trailer kitchen with all the water I needed for cooking and doing dishes for 80! The big opening is where I'd drop my kids in to clean the tanks out every start of the season, lol! Off grid living is the best!
I think the water tank needs to be two of those blocks off the ground, just so you have a better drop pressure. For the view, you could easily build a viewing deck at height, with a sail cover, or a hard roof. Could also become an outside studio. A word of warning. Your land shows no signs of flash flooding, but there's always a danger that a wash will come through your property. I'd take a good walk around the other plots just to see if they've had washes. They look like small dried river beds. Arizona can have very heavy rains, and you have more greenery than many parts of the state.
Its fun to have your home/property to do what you want. I'm jealous that you live far away from noisey/nosey neighbors. It makes the whole experience so worthwhile. You're going to love it and so will we.
I started watching your channel in 2015 glad you are remaining strong eric. It takes alot to be able to put a portion of your life for us to see and join in. People comment and criticize yet you remain true the nomadic life and a self reliance most of us dont have. You did this all alone by yourself and many have taken inspiration from it and have done the same. But like pepsi and coke there's only one original formula. Best to you and the cats. Stay well. JA.
Love what you’re doing with your homestead. I enjoy watching you put everything in place and can’t wait to see where you put Babe the Blue Box. The kitties were so happy to see you, Opie has a very loud purr and I know they will love their new home. Good luck with the move😀
It makes me happy to see your excitement about this p r operty! Im glad you are taking Kevin's advise. He's a pretty smart guy & i think he got a lot of ad ise from his neighbors when he first got there. I was pretty disappointed that you couldn't do much with the leach field. It looks to be a fairly large area and the circle drive would be convenient. Do you think you will have several visitors at once, on the property? I think your plan will work nicely & hope you have room for everyone. Have you heard anything from Wayne? He just kinda disappeared after he got injured working on the new to him RV. I was hoping he would come out & spend some time helping you set up solar on the property. I hope he is OK. HUGS~Donna
Your property is really coming along. You have some great ideas with what to do with the place. I loved the kitty purrs. Tara and Opie really love you. I am sure they are really happy. Take care of yourself,Tara and Opie.
It's so awesome to see you building your property up so that you can find it a very livable and enjoyable space. With regards to the Rain don't fret you're not the problem this time even though you have a connection to the water spirits. It's because we're in an El Nino pattern and it's going to bring a boatload of rain possibly for the next year-and-a-half but certainly for the next few months, so expect that all of the West Coast will be more inundated and the south of the United States with heavy precipitation.
I bet the kitties would love a catio! And, now that you told them, you have to get one or they will be sad and we cannot have sad kitties.😁 ❤ I think putting your solar array over the drain field is a good way to use some of the area. Maybe you could even put it along the drive (if it will face south)as a way of making sure no one accidentally drives on the drain field. Whatever you do I'm sure it will all work the best for you. Glad to see enjoying yourself so much putting your homestead together.
Lookin good. Are you sure you have enough land. 1 acre, you might exceed that very quickly. But it does look as though you have more land nearby if you want to purchase more. I love it, and I can't wait to see it all set up just how you'd like. Great home base and very quiet too.
Fantastic Eric Can’t wait to see what you do with the land. You mention on previous video about the property next to you. Can you send me info. I have spoken to Kevin about property and are you in Sho Low as well. Let us know we are looking for property.
One step at a time. You're ahead of us on the septic (ours should be done in August). We have driveway and cinder "yard" installed, and a little shed that we have beefed up with some hurricane ties. Would love to know who you used for your survey. The guy we used charged the same amount ($900) but didn't register it with the county. He wanted $3500 to do that. ☹️ Again, good to see you looking so happy.
👋 Hey Eric, I hope at some point you have a meet n greet up there in the Concho area. I'd definitely drive up from the Mesa/Gilbert neck of the woods down south of you for a chance to shake the hand of my favorite RVtuber. Kevin is 2nd but I've been following you a lot longer, lol. Meeting both of y'all would be really cool. Why, I'd pop for burgers n a brew. Love that you're getting your offgrid on. I think its going to be informative and fun watching how you go about it... Ain't nothing beats having your own patch of ground that's all yours. Thanks for bringing us on the journey!! PS- Keep your TX residency if you can. No need paying that 3½% income thingy they want up at the AZ statehouse. 😉 So long from your Valley of The Sun neighbor.
That happened to Me with a House I bought back years ago. It was a Quiet Neighborhood when I bought The House, and then after I got it, I had a lot of trouble.
All houses have their quirks (and moments of sheer terror!) There is no such thing in my experience as a homeowner/builder over decades which is a long winded way of saying there’s no “perfect house.” The first full year you live in your new home is when you find it’s peculiarities. Best wishes!
Can hardly wait to see what you do with your base camp. You seem to be in your element when working or fixing stuff. Loved the redo of the camper and looking forward to the base camp build out.
Eric, just a suggestion, but ask the solar installer if having the solar array mounted on trackers would make sense for your homestead. You'll get more power from the panels as they follow the Sun throughout the day.
Your property is all coming together with the addition of the water tank and is developing nicely. You may already be planning this, but you might want to somehow block off your septic field area, so no one drives over it not knowing it is there and possibly damaging it.
This is a great project. All "nomads" need a base camp. The dry air is much better for everything, so good location choice. I did a base camp years ago. Traditional stuff is not for some of us.
If you could mount it six feet up you could Gravity feed you're water out and not need a pump. It must be able to handle the weight of the water 💧. Good luck 👍
Eric you better enjoy those rainy days. I'm a cat, and dog, and pigs. Which make great pets. We had two pigs before and my wife made pets out of them. She cried for two days over butchering them. Next time will buy for a pet not food. Also I'm so excited to watch you fix up your grownd.
Well, kinda glad it's raining there, because Az needs it. Know it makes it a bit of a pain in the butt for you. In spite of it, you're moving right along getting things livable. Looking good there Work smart, good idea on the chain saw. Good to have friends willing to lend a hand. Can't wait to see what's next, and the catio. 🙂👍
Congrats very cool to see the property coming together Eric! Its a dream for many people to have a property away from town. I think a lot of people myself included are interested in ideas you and Kevin come up with. God Bless.
You're so happy!!! This is so wonderful!!!! Love all this homesteading stuff ... plus learning a lot. Cool. And ..... CATIO!!!!!! Hooray -- cannot wait to see it! I remember you talking about that big catio at a Harvest Host somewhere in the south.... can't remember where now. Brilliant, very excited to see it.
Things are starting to take shape at your new home. A great big catio for Tara and Opie would be awesome - it would be great to see them able to be outside but contained so they stay safe.
MIB Edgar scene flashback when you loaded up the tank. Can you burry one of those tall water tanks to keep it cool. Underground. Geothermal constant. So cool to watch you set up like this.
it seems they want the darker color to keep the tanks from freezing. i didnt know sub freezing temps were an issue in arizona. i figured it would be the opposite and keep the tanks a lighter color /underground to keep them cool.
When you build the catio use "hog wire". Coyotes can defeat other types. I read that somewhere in comments on a catio video. There are big cats up there too.
We are a bit North of you in the 4 corners area. We are doing the same with our 40 acres. One of our first purchases was a 20 foot shipping container and shelves for all the new gear that comes along with the land. Highly recommend. Love watching and getting ideas from your journey.
Great idea! And because the government seizes them for transporting drugs etc. the “owners” forfeit any conveyance used in transporting illegal stuff-and people. Anyway, keep an eye out for Federal, State and Municipal auctions of seized vehicles/containers. You can get a great deal on shipping containers.
@@nomadicfanatic I just returned from the property (not living there full time yet) and was DEVASTATED by rodent damage in my Van and RV. Rat Bastards!!! My shipping container and all in it were 100% damage free. Another plus in my book :) We plan on getting a 40 footer and splitting it with solar set up controllers batteries ect one side, and water filtration on other... solar on top with collection. Worth the extra $$ for sure. Love seeing you diving into your project... got my views and support. Keep up the good work Eric
Eric, if you could walk us through a step-by-step on the water tank setup, that’s be awesome. I have a similar tank at home that I haven’t assembled yet because I wasn’t sure how to install the spigot.
Ok you have me concerned looking at you cutting branches WITHOUT eye protection please don't do that from grandma Cindy. I love watching your videos when I can. Blessings
WTG Eric! So good to see you happy again! It's exciting to watch step by step on your new homestead journey. Every step you make is towards your new home base. oh I have to mention the lights are cool too.
Eric, i placed my water storage i side a 20ft storage container, i buried a water line with a connection i side a sprinkler box, a 12v RV pump/battery/solar panel provides pressurized water so i can hook to my rv city water side..
I lived out in that desert for over 30 years, watch out for those coyotes they are very smart and will watch for days until they see an opening. They are smart and will dig under any fence or compound.
Congrats on ur Ryobi chain saw... Ryobi also has a 2-100 Watt speaker set w/bluetooth. I just got the 18V trimmer, 40V lawn mower, air pump & deflater, & inverter, for now.
You brought the rain with you to Arizona, Eric LOL This is exciting working on your homestead and living on it for the first time. Too cool. Good idea to put it on the drain field. I can't wait for the move :) Great homestead tips from Kevin.
Eric thank you for your great videos. I am expecting this monsoon season to be severe. This means high winds and heavy rain at times. So I would recommend strapping everything down and creating water flow areas. Best of luck with the new property. If I see you in town, let's get some tasty pizza!
Suggestion if you please. Buy a battery sawzall with wood blade. Will cut juniper with no problems. A chainsaw especially electric will dull the chain with all of the dirt in them. Trust me from experience 👍
Makes better sense, hes a chump
Glad to see you excited about your new property and all the projects which will come along. Thanks for sharing your story.
That is what I use as well works great. However my electric chainsaw works for the bigger parts of the juniper when I have to cut the whole thing down to free the pine trees.

Ryobi sawzall is bomb I have one
It is good to see you happy working on your nomad's nest.
You're looking & sounding more relaxed & happier. A good break does that. All good. Fun watching your progress fixing up your home base
I don't know about the rest of your viewers, but I personally am looking forward to seeing more videos of you developing your property. I look forward to seeing what you do with it. 🙂

I agree.
Very much agree. Would love to see more of your development if the property to give us ideas 😊
Same here.
Me too! Keep us informed on the adventure!

Just like the pause he took with his house in Illinois

Ditto, will help his channel also!
I'm watching about 4hrs later after he uploaded and, he's got nearly 22K views!
So excited for you Eric. You look truly happy. Nothing like a project to put excitement into your life.
I’m excited for the new changes! Can’t wait to see what you do with the property.
Really excited about the direction of your channel, taking a combination of a homestead and travel bad ass
I agree, both of the things I want to do.

Cats. Oh yeah. Can't live without them. Bestest little companions in so many wonderful ways.
Glad to see your move is progressing so well. Looks like your going to have an awesome setup when finished.
Basecamp videos are kicking ass.
Take it from a country girl: Use those pavers in 2 strips to drive onto for your trailer and RV. Gives stability when it rains and the ground gets soft, and you can level them as required. I'm very excited to see your improvements to the property!
I like that idea! Pavers for tires!
A word of warning. Your land shows no signs of flash flooding, but there's always a danger that a wash will come through your property. I'd take a good walk around the other plots just to see if they've had washes. They look like small dried river beds. Arizona can have very heavy rains, and you have more greenery than many parts of the state.
Your are making your own paradise looking great
I am so happy for you. It so exciting to see you so happy and looking forward to the next steps you will be taking.
Great enthusiasm, and moving forward ! Love hearing a kitty purr.Keep on keepin on !Be safe and healthy.😇🐈⬛🐈
So exciting to live off grid and independently. Hugs for Tara and Opie. They're happy when Dad's happy! 🩷🩵
Love the off grid videos Eric! A new phase!
Absolutely LOVE THOSE SOLAR HANGING and GROUND LIGHTS!!! Adds a very cool, peaceful look to your property! So happy for you, Eric!
Awesome video Eric, thanks
Property looking good. I am going enjoy watching how it goes setting up a homestead.
It makes me happy to see your excitement about this p r operty! Im glad you are taking Kevin's advise. Homesteading videos are my jam! 😅
Thank you Eric! I, (and I know a lot of your viewers )are currently building off -grid tiny homes. We look forward to your updates.
Your property is really coming along. You have some great ideas with what to do with the place. I loved the kitty purrs. Tara and Opie really love you. I am sure they are really happy. Take care of yourself,Tara and Opie.

With regards to the Rain don't fret you're not the problem this time even though you have a connection to the water spirits. A man who loves cats! Wishing you all the best ❤
Homestead coming along nicely. About the rain, I believe this time of year in AZ is monsoon season. Enjoy the peace and quiet 💕🤙
The water tank is such a great idea instead of drilling a well. It is fun seeing you develop the land.

So happy for you! It’s great to see you smiling and enjoying yourself
Great new content i also look for a homestead in portugal
Eric you look like you are much happier doing your off grid project ! I am glad for you !
Tara seems to really like AZ... I think this a very exciting time for you. Be safe and big hugs
Can't wait to see what you do .
Excited to see you develop your property.
It’s getting exciting Eric! Hey from Washington State! I hope you and Kitties are doing good!
Good luck with the move Eric. I will be nice having your own place. Keep the good stuff coming buddy.
You should get someone to dig out so you can bury your tank. Cooler in the summer and no freezing in the winter
Yeah I agree. Mine is.
GREAT! love the new land. I bought some in Seligman and all the info is GREAT... good luck!🐱🐱🌵🌵🍺🌊
DUDE, so happy for you!! Having water and sewer has to be so exciting. Good for you Sir, "Livin' the Dream".
Things are falling into place, and I love your surprise.❤😅
I love the way you are going with your channel. Keep up the good work my friend.
People who have rainwater collection setups are glad to have you around! 😂 ⛈ 👍
God Bless.

Love this video. A mix of homesteading work then travel videos is a nice mix.
You look more relaxed too. I am happy for you, Eric.
Your HAPPY face makes us glad you are in AZ at your property. Thank you for providing a very enjoyable channel!
I loving watching your videos on setting up your base camp.
Yay!!!
So excited with you Eric. Can't wait to see what you will do with your property. Hugs to kitties!
Looking forward to following your progress in renovating your land. This is going to be a fascinating project.
It's some very rocky ground in that area.
Cool video. This is interesting, nice to have a home base.
Shipping containers in this area are crazy expensive. I still want one eventually.
Can you set up a way to capture any of that rain water into your water tank. You’ll be filtering it when pulling it out.
OK getting moved onto your property. I'm excited for you!!
Eric, if you could walk us through a step-by-step on the water tank setup, that’s be awesome. I have a similar tank at home that I haven’t assembled yet because I wasn’t sure how to install the spigot.
Just down the road from you to the Phoenix area has had no rain at all in months😊
Good buy man. A lot of work but exciting right. I agree silence is golden. Fun videos and you are a great speaker.
Kevin the garden hose will leach chemicals into the water in the sun of the desert.
Could your smile be any bigger!!?? So happy for you!
Congrats on ur Ryobi chain saw... Ryobi also has a 2-100 Watt speaker set w/bluetooth.
I just got the 18V trimmer, 40V lawn mower, air pump & deflater, & inverter, for now.
Pets give us all their heart ❤️. Can't wait for you to get to property fulltime/ part-time .
You brought the rain with you to Arizona, Eric LOL This is exciting working on your homestead and living on it for the first time. Too cool. Good idea to put it on the drain field. I can't wait for the move :) Great homestead tips from Kevin.
Monsoon weather came a month early here in AZ. We are loving it in Clarkdale.
Eric thank you for your great videos. I am expecting this monsoon season to be severe. This means high winds and heavy rain at times. So I would recommend strapping everything down and creating water flow areas. Best of luck with the new property. If I see you in town, let's get some tasty pizza!
