Great video and very detailed. As a side note/anecdote: I found the open hands not to be as common as some "muay thai nerds" may wanna make us believe. It's often taught like that especially in the west (and probably the most common one in the west like you said) but most Thais I've seen and trained with will immediately go for a gable grip or another hand lock once they get both arms on the inside. Back during the golden age the open hands were more common as clinch was generally more of a flow while exchanging knees and elbows. Nowadays they lock up pretty quickly and refs separate fighters much quicker as well.
You mentioned how to use this clinch in breifly another video a long time ago, and it really helped me get a lot better in this position. I'm glad to see it covered in more detail.
Great stuff. Finding someone who likes to clinch to practice with is key. Then you can work on snaking between different clinch positions so that you're always one step ahead of the captured.

lol, grab anyone testicles and you can bring the biggest guy to their knees unless you one off those guys who can take a kick to the nuts. There was a UA-cam video I saw were a guy had taken hundred of kicks to the nuts he had developed a nutsack that was incredible strong. The sack was so strong he could taken a kick from a 6 ft 5 man who was 300 pounds. Here is the video if you want to watch it just past it on youtube "World Record Kick to the Groin [Documentary]" With this guy grabbing his testicles won't do any good since he can literally take a kick.
Good explanations that all the clinching positions are good as long as they apply enough control to the opponent. One thing I want to point out though, the control is not by applying force through squeezing. The clinch is to break the opponent's structure with your structure enough that you can manipulate it. The control should be established by having a good body structure not muscles. Once good control is established, manipulation of the opponent's body is through projecting power through the grapple (again with structure and gravity not muscles) and moving your entire body. Once the proper clinch is established If the opponent doesn't have 100 lbs over you, he or she should feel like a rag doll every single time, because his or her structure is broken, so no power can be used. This is how golden age muay thai fighters could clinch and tossed much bigger people like it was nothing.
Wrist watch to elbow, lift from there with the wrist, go the direction they take you and change levels then either shove or strike depending on the distance they create by attempting to counter! 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Someone once explained to me that it's called the "plum" because you're holding the guy's head in front of your face the way a monkey holds a plum when he eats it. Elbows bent and down, two hands on the plum, close to your face, etc. Protecting the plum so another monkey doesn't take it. I have no idea if that is remotely accurate, but I thought it at least made some intuitive sense.
I don't remember where I saw this, and I haven't been able to find anyone talking about it, but I was under the impression that it's not actually the English word 'plum' at all, it's a Thai word that's pronounced more like the English 'plume'. Idk what it actually means, though.
Funnily enough, my instant reaction was, that is a muay thai clinch, wtf!!! But then, yeah, took a split second to think, and you're right. The "traditional" idea of a muay thai clinch is rarely utilised by pros. You see the back of the neck clinch in amateur fights a lot, and it usually descends into a sh*t show, but the pros control the arms through underhooks and overhooks etc., to land knees.

Eight years of Muay Thai here: I don't mean to be rude, but you are not doing it completely right. 1. Lock four fingers to your open hand as close to the thumb on as you can. 2. Don't grab the neck; grab the top back of the head. You'll need much less leverage to control your opponent. 3. Rest your elbows on the collar bones 4. Squeeze your elbows tightly together 5. Always keep your opponent off balance (twist, turn, bend to avoid counters) and land knees To get out of the clinch: 1. Never ever try to duck out of it. You'll duck into a knee. 2. Straighten your back and keep your hips close to his. Never give him distance to land a knee. 3. Open your hand, lay it across your opponent's eyes to take away his vision. Just give him a good push with your open hand, and he will let go. 4. Give him a good teep or a flying knee once he lets go. Keep your hands up if you try the latter. Don't drop them on the way in.
it's called Muay Plum /Plam because that's how the Thais call it, Plum means wrestling/ pummeling ... all gribs u showed are part of Muay Plam, best advice was don't lean your head towards your opponent, always head up, shoulders back, knees slightly bend, legs parallel and on the balls of your foot, the double collar tie is the best position you could get but a skilled fighter won't allow u to get it, in my opinion best hand position is grabbing my wrist and my thumb of the other hand on the back of ya head, my head under the chin, strong arm pulling down with forearm on your shoulder or let's say between shoulder and brest, palm facing towards me that's very important, also it's very important to grab the back of the head not neck if you do it with both hands, with one you grab the neck on the opposite side for example using left hand your fingers are on the ride side the other hand is controlling the left arm of the opponent... love your content Mike keep it up... greets from Germany (+20 years in Muay Thai) 😁✌🏼🙏🏼

Once youre in the clinch you dont just stand there. The knees work and elbows work too, as well as trips. Muay thai fighters are more dangerous in the clinch then on the outside. You do not want to get full power knee into your ribcage. Its game over.
