Surely my eyes are deceiving me!? Gilbert OSullivan and Elton John together in joyful harmony, singing Gilberts rocker Get Down!? It's amazing, it's brilliant, it's GREAT!!!!
Kudos to Elton for being a good sport and sing Get Down together with Gilbert OSullivan! The two finest singer/ songwriters of the 70s in joyful harmony!
A very sad case, that one. Surely greed was Mills motivation. He was so good to Gilbert early in his career but somewhere around 1975 things turned sour and it all ended in a court case where Gilbert OSullivan won in a landslide, effectively putting Mills out of business. Clearly that was not Gilbert's goal and he has expressed great sadness about rhe whole ordeal. I'm glad Gilbert won, though. It made it possible for Gilbert to concentrate fully on his music and making him financially secure for the rest of his life. A whole string of albums appeared between 1980 and 2018 and I love all of them. I play them as often as I play his classic 70s albums which I adore and cherish.
@@Jo_Wardy I think you maybe have the wrong information Joe ! Elton is one of the biggest selling artists ever! I love Elton and have many of his albums but there is something about Gilbert's music that draws me! Is there a better song than Alone again Naturally? Maybe Elusive butterfly by Bob Lind!
This is Amazing! Rock and Roll History! I'm seeing Gilbert O'Sullivan on July 9, 2019 at The City Winery in NYC. It's Gilbert's first US appearance in 45 years!
Fabulous duet, I saw the full show at a tv archive groups presentation several years ago - The full show is fabulous with the likes of the Ojay's appearing.
I would have loved to see Gilbert maybe record a song with Supertramp. Gilbert was childhood friends with Rick Davies who taught him how to play piano and then went on to form Supertramp.
Told you once before And I won't tell you no more Get down, get down, get down You're a bad dog, baby But I still want you around You give me the creeps When you jump on your feet So get down, get down, get down Keep your hands to yourself I'm strictly out of bounds Once upon a time, I drank a little wine Was as happy as could be, happy as could be Now I'm just like a cat on a hot tin roof Baby, what do you think you're doing to me Told you once before And I won't tell you no more So get down, get down, get down You're a bad dog, baby But I still want you around, around I still want you around Hey hey hey I don't give a damn And I'd like you, if you can To get down, get down, get down You're a bad dog, baby But I still want you around Once upon a time, I drank a little wine Was as happy as could be, happy as could be Now I'm just like a cat on a hot tin roof Baby, what do you think you're doing to me Told you once before And I won't tell you no more So get down, get down, get down You're a bad dog, baby But I still want you around, around I still want you around, mmm
OMG! I’m a bad Elton fan, used to like Gilbert too, but I cannot remember ever seeing this performance before! Mind you 1973, to me, was fifty years ago, lol! I love this very much ❤️
At the time Gilbert was rivalling Elton John with transatlantic chart success, Alone Again (naturally) was a huge number 1 hit in the US, and ended the year as the second biggest selling single of 1972 there.
Elton John would have to rate as one of the best piano players in the industry if not the Best, he has brought out a lot great songs, i can not think of any dud songs from Elton John, in this video you can really hear his voice. Elton John was well known back then for wearing some very colourful suits.
Incredible, brilliant. The two best artists ever

Yes I agree @thomasmarthinussen8978 , It's wanderderfal👍.
Yep the two best piano players of the 70s even at the start Gilbert was outselling Elton
Magic of the internet.
Add Rick Davies to that list. He taught Gilbert O'Sullivan how to play piano. He later went out and formed the group Supertramp.
Who the hell would have the audacity to dislike this?!?!
I am guessing "the bad dog" baby :-)
The good the bad and the ugly?
7 idiots apparently
my friend hates it, he is deaf
A millenial

Agreed.👋
This is insane! I never knew these two played together. I am not worthy!
Gilbert is perfoming now.. buy a ticket.
He’s just amazingly talented 😊
What a great clip! Looked like they were having fun - great vocal from Elton!
@@simonhodgetts6530 Agreed.👏
O'Sullivan more better! Elton can to rest. Excuse me please, fans of Elton John.
I can’t believe I found this. Fantastic.
What a fantastic duet.Timeless and evergreen . Bravo
Wow! Never seen this before. Two massive talents.
Wait, Gilbert O'Sullivan had his own TV show? How have I never heard of this?
Not to mention, Gilbert & Elton make a great team!
This is so good.
That's a hell of a lot of talent on the piano
One of the reasons UA-cam exists.
What a treat to see this unique collaboration!
Love Elton's little inflections here and there with the melody, I'm sure Gilbert approved!
Get Down was a very Elton like song to begin with so it’s only natural that the man himself would duet well with Gilbert O’Sullivan!
I'm lost for words.
This is truly a gem!! I just came across my 45 of this song but never knew these 2 amazing people sang it together... I Love UA-cam!!!!!
The heavens rewarded us with this privileged performance
Get Down the first ever 45rpm single I bought i was 7years old in 1971 🎶⭐
Congratulations
@@Oh_I_Willgood choice of a song!

O.M.F.G! Stars collide before our very eyes!!!!
This is magic‼
Both sound great. Happens to be the year of yellow-brick road album in 1973
Wow just awesome these two getting together 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This performance by two of the world's best was awesome! Not only do they sing good together but they can play the piano brilliantly! Awesome!
Equal piano players even Gilbert was little more successful in record sales etc

Immutable law of Elton in the 1970s: he always sang better when his rivals were present.

What was it like?
@@JohnSmith-su3ze It was AMAZING! He did all his hits and songs from the new album. I had a chance to meet with him and talk with him after the show!
@@AppleMan531 what was Gilbert like as a person after the show, from a native of Gilbert's home in Ireland
@@raymofarrell19 Regular nice guy. Also met his daughter and manager

Loved Gilbert O'Sullivan.
So nice to see this. They both dominated the '70s

I still want you around
Hey hey hey
I don't give a damn
And I'd like you, if you can
To get down, get down, get down
You're a bad dog, baby

Que bárbaro ver a estos genios atacando el piano y al vibrante tema "Get Down" Geniales!!!!
AS Jimmy Walker would say----A Dynamite Duo...!
When did he use “duo”?
Thanks!

Never seen this before but wow think he should cover this. Just really sounds like it's made for him
Great
Seen this guy 2 week ago in motherwelll BRILLIANT 💙🏴
Love it
Gilbert even had a bash at 'Disco' - and it wasn't even his 'genre' - and he couldn't go wrong with this Number One classic! (followed by 'Ooh Baby'!)
At the time Gilbert was rivalling Elton John with transatlantic chart success, Alone Again (naturally) was a huge number 1 hit in the US, and ended the year as the second biggest selling single of 1972 there.
Wow! Thank you.
Fabuloso dueto...
I think Elton wished he had written this..😉
Thank You for this
Gilbert O'Sullivan is cool. They are both so great together.

Magnifique pépite ... duo mythique... les voix s’accordent parfaitement .... les adaptations vocales d’Elton John sont purement cosmiques
Gilbert O' Sullivan's talent surpasses that of Elton John, and O'Sullivan's voice is incomparably magical!!!👍☘️😊
Both are amazing but yes Gilbert did gain more popularity in the 70s in terms of sales etc
@@Jo_Wardy In term of sales maybe in the UK. In America Elton was way bigger and lasted longer throughout the decades.
