      Too funny.... it's actually not about cheerleading. Most professional "cheerleaders" for the NFL and NBA are dancers. We use cheer/motion drills to help our dancers dance with more power. It will work for you too, Promise!

      Practice, practice, practice! This WILL get better! We always recommend you dance in front of a mirror or video yourself so you can visually see what your motions look like and how to adjust! Be sure to check out our second part on How to Dance Sharp and with Power! Just dropped this week! :) ua-cam.com/video/DOD2qlWoGjU/v-deo.html

    i really like the soft x full out version comparision! when i started to put effort into dancing as hobby i always rushed a little because i assumed that dancing sharper and dancing faster had to go hand in hand
    so yeah, its pretty cool to see an example where the person still hits the counts in sync!!

    not me watching 80 videos because i didn’t make the cheer team yesterday and this was literally one of the reasons why and i want to make it in October so i’m starting like 8 months earlier

    The ending part is blank where it says Watch This First, Watch This Next. But other than that, I was literally saying this YESTERDAY!!! I need to be more sharp with my arm movements in the dance routine. I understand how I'm supposed to go about it! Thank you for uploading this video and giving me a better visual understanding.

    • @SidelinePrep
      @SidelinePrep  4 роки тому +4

      Sorry for the blank slides at the end... those have been updated. We recommend 2 additional videos to watch around dancing and performing full out. As far as dancing sharper... even though I'm a cheerleader at heart - turned pro dancer, MOTIONS are everything! They help you with placement and power. Doing motions drills is a great place to start. And of course we're here if you need anything at all!

    Dancing with power vs without is such a bug difference!! Now I’m really tired afterwards but it’s worth it! Sharpness is key as well. Think of michael jackson/Chris brown/Omarion

      Yes indeed. If you’re dancing with power it can feel like a workout. This will help build up your stamina too. Keep it up!!

    the activity seems a little cheer-based. does this work for every style of dance?

    • @SidelinePrep
      @SidelinePrep  4 роки тому +46

      Working on cheer motions will help you dance with power for most genres of music/dance... especially pom, jazz, hip hop and pro cheer, of course :) When dancing certain choreography, especially ballet or jazz, you will likely be more fluid and graceful. In that case, working on cheer motions will help more with placement of moves but you obviously wouldn't "punch" your motions for ballet. Follow the guidance of the choreographer, but for pro cheer auditions, when in doubt, dance full out... with sharp, powerful movements. Hope this helps. Do you have any other questions?

    • @SidelinePrep
      @SidelinePrep  4 роки тому +3

      Yes! Definitely! These tips will help any and every body. Most dance moves are just a series of motions done differently. Start with motion drills... record yourself so you can see and monitor how you're improving!

      One way to control your moves is to make sure you place them properly and don't move through the placement. Hit them... keep it there... and then go to the next move. Have you ever tried recording yourself so you can see what you need to improve on?
