    I agree with some of the guys that it would really look much better with about two or three more coats because your coats were kind of thin coats. It would be excellent after that. Also you are a very young guy so make sure you protect your lungs with a very good mask for long and happy life.

    I had a process like this done on ceramic tile bathroom walls. They were PINK and done when the house was new back in the late 50's or early 60's. Tile was in good condition, no broken,cracked, or missing pieces. Just wrong color. I wanted an off white. Two guys came and taped off the walls and woodwork. The tile only cover the first four feet up from the floor. They finished the job ans cleaned up and gone in less than 4-5 hours. That was over 30 years ago and still looks great. Never chipped, faded or pealed off. You'd never know it wasn't white ceramic tile. Shiny like new tile. Was some kind of special paint technique that was new at the time. Very pleased.

    What kind of Bondo did you use?

  • @bkentrepreneur7145
    @bkentrepreneur7145  9 років тому +3

    i did this to 3 bath tubs,
    it lookes great for sometime, but not for over a year of use.
    i agree with eric burns.
    in the future i would pay a professional to put a THICK layer of epoxy paint,
    2 of the tubs are looking ok, but one of them has alot peeled off after one year of heavy use.
    my advice if you want to do this, do the paint on roller NOT the spray, OR change the tub OR have a professional spray the tub that will last for 5 years or more.
    i will NOT EVER waste my time and money using a spray.
    the bondo repair works GREAT.

      That is far from looking great, but it does look better than before.Bottom line is, you get what you pay for. Plus a wet sand would of gave it a uniform and consistent finish.

    Great detail! Thank you. Does the kit have everything you need in regards to cleaning and painting the tub! Would you have liked to had another can of paint to smooth out the finish? The tub looks great.

    I have been refinishing bathtubs for 25 years. If you use one of these repair it’s to save a few bucks, you are going to pay thru the nose to have a professional strip off your mistake and do it correctly. Refinishing a tub is something you should definitely spend the money to have it done correctly or pay far more when your repair kit starts peeling.

    hi.
    i used Bondo Lightweight Body Filler, its a clear or white plastic top, with red and black metal can.
    it has a pic of a red older american muscle car with white stripes
    you can buy at advanced, autozone, homedepot, lowes, etc.
    but any bondo body filler will work.

    What do u do if the tub have a little bit of rust

  • @Glorious_Kim_Jong_Un
    @Glorious_Kim_Jong_Un 8 років тому

    Bottom line with tubs is nothing beats the factory where they put them in essentially giant ovens that bakes everything together.
    If you get this stuff, eventually you're going to have problems thus you'll buy it again to make it look new again until it happens again.. in the long run, just get a tub on sale at Home Depot... might need to wait for a good sale. They're easy to install, just need 2 people.

    I would have replaced the wall tiles prior to refinish the tub. And the Air conditioner off. The last thing you want to do is redistribute the paint fumes through the house via AC recirculation.
    Tub looks good though.

    • @rogerbettencourt9654
      @rogerbettencourt9654 3 роки тому

      I agree about keeping the AC off, however more importantly than fumes is getting the paint on the evaporator coil.

      hi,
      if your tub needs repair then use bondo,
      i used bondo from advanced auto parts, but you can buy from autozone, lowes, home depot.
      sand paper, you can buy from any of those stores mentioned above
      i bought the tub refinishing kit from lowes, but home depot should have also but diff brand
      i would recommend putting fan into bathroom window to remove the smell and paint particles in the air
      and put drop cloths on every surface so that the paint particles do not stick to floor or toilet or sink.

    Can natural cleaning products take enamel off the tub? Because I used method products and now my tub has rough spots when I wipe over it, it now makes holes (it tears apart) in the cloths like old rags. And I live in a complex so I need to let them know. But I'm curious to know if the cleaning products could of done that. Because if it did, then I would have to pay for the damage that I didn't know what not to use on my bathtub. Thank you for sharing this and hope for an idea of what could cause this roughness to happen. ☺

      Jacqueline Peters your tub is wearing out, they don’t last forever, when the porcelain on the steel tubs wears thin it will start to feel rough.
      Fyi: steel tubs are coated with porcelain, you may want to look at getting your tub professionally reglazed DYI kits barely last 3 months before they start to fail and peel, a professional reglazing job will last over 10 years if you can find a real pro.

      Go with someone like miracle method. A lot of the stuff this guy is doing is going to fail within a year. Have a professional do itm miracle method guarantees at least 10 years though most last longer, give a 5 year warranty where they will fix things for free and will not only do all repairs and refinish it the first day but they will come back for a 2nd day to wet sand and polish your tub to make it look brand new. It's about 500 but you get what you pay for with things like this. They provide excellent customer service as well

      Mike Fix its not perfect like from manufacturer, but im satisfied with the way it came out.
      one problem i had was that a tenant moved in before the 7 days of drying was up, in certain places near the drain the paint chipped or came off.
      i can not redo until tenant moves out, as the unit only has one bath and tenant will not be ok without a working bath tub for 7 days.

      +Billy BK lol. yea you could do it with Tennant there. get a professional to do it with real materials not this cheap crap that peels in a month. you will regret using it trying to save a buck because you will have to pay a professional to strip that crap off once it starts peeling and then reglaze it professionally. those kits don't even give you most of the stuff you really need. you need real 2 part epoxy primer and real 2 part urethane topcoat and you can use the tub the next day. they use the aerospace epoxy primer my company buys on oil rig drill bits and silane adhesion promoter, acid etching is the old school way. but very dangerous not many professionals use it anymore and it is now obsolete

  • @zachnelson2150

    There are many things wrong with this video. As a professional refinisher from a very good company I can tell you that we come and fix these all the time plus the final product of this really didnt look good. Your bondo mixture also needs to have a lot less hardener in it. Faster isnt always better especially when it comes to bondo. If you want it to dry quicker, put a heat gun on it, flash it with cold water and then hear gun again. Never put too much hardener in it. Save yourself the hassle and have a professional do it.
