NIIICE!!! A “10” rating from 1-10. Great how to video. Very detailed and nothing left to chance. The finished product looked like it was a newly purchased/installed bathtub. Excellent. 👍🏽
I appreciate that!
@@DPTubs why didn't you sand after the acid wash?
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
Great video. I transformed a claw foot tub. The key is the Jasco. There was only one can on the shelf - I got 90% done with that can in a hour. The next day it took 2 cans of goof off, 5 hours additional hours and much more elbow grease to finish the remaining 10% - man I wish there would have been a 2nd can of Jasco available. I would say the 2nd most important key is plenty of fresh scraper blades - they get dull pretty quickly - I went through about 10 of them, remember to flip them over and use both sides. Once I was like 98% done I used an electric sander with 80 grit and that got all the little remaining stuff fast and easy.
Thanks again, without this video the not for tubs warning on the Jasco would have scared me away from it.

I had to come back and comment here because this video saved me. I spent a long first day super discouraged. Followed this exactly and it helped me remove the finish straight away. Wanted to help anyone else possibly doing the same. I'm so glad I didn't convince myself I couldn't do this. 🥲
If you're refinishing your own tub, do yourself a favor and get a paint sprayer. It can be done with the roller but it's challenging.
Also, consider that this might take you at least a couple days. I spent a whole long weekend doing this.
Thanks for posting this and helping me, OP!!
Great video! How many paint coats you applied? How much time in between coats? Can a roller be used instead? Pros and Cons? Thanks
Well Sir.. how many and how long in between. There's no responses to these questions in comment
Congratulations on the work! Very professional, neat, and satisfying.
After starting wrong kinda wrong I decided to watch videos (seems like 30 of them). This (and your other tub-strip vid) is the absolute BEST right down to the Jasco because my research says it's best but the product says not on tubs - Thanks for your input there, now I will usue it. Unfortunately, it's an RV tub and I grinded it down to (nevermind) before I learned just to sand. Thanks so much! I still might need to hire someone but I'll have that experience of knowledge in advance, if I do. Thanks again
Amazing! Totally love your work. I am planning on painting my kid's tub, its an old ugly green, can this remover do the job?
You did a wonderful job start to finish! Would you be able to tell me where I can locate the napco ltd piranha etch and cleaner combo?
What a good Job, looks like new 👏 ❤ love it
I like the spray better! I've used from Napco the brush on gel type stripper and they tell you to make "x's' on the paint with a utility knife before applying. So messy and I'm looking forward to trying your way next strip
Does removing reglazing from a steel bathtub damage it so it has to be reglazed again or can you just leave it off?
Great videos and I'm trying to refinish my tub. Do you have a video where you don't not use a spray device? Something with a roller maybe?
I have the same question
@@dennisjenkins4987 I don’t show a roller because I would never use one. Messy, inconsistent finish, IMO! There are definitely some DIYers who would use it and that’s totally fine because the spray gun could get pricey. You could use a spray can Homax and they have an attachment that will allow you to spray the can like a gun.
Check out my latest video as yiu could see me use it when I spray the primer around the perimeter of the tub.
Mesmerizing transformation! That is a lot of work, but such a dramatic difference.
What an amazing transformation thank you for sharing it's way better looking than what it was.
thank you so much for including the equipment you used!
Dig the video. I was thinking of reglazing my tub a bisque color. Do u think that will make my place harder to sell later on. ;)
Yes I do! White is most common especially for homes requested by real estate agents
This was so cool to see . I was stuck on the screen in amaze. I dont know why but this was really satisfying to watch something ugly turn so beautiful. Thanks for sharing awesome job Danny.
Omg I couldn't of said it better! That's exactly what I was feeling
stripping is the worst. I rather just grind the paint off
Thank you for showing how to glaze a bath tub step by step!
Do the cleaning products affect the grout or metal like the drain for example ? To prorect and maintain the shine of the new coating, what cleaning products are best to use on it and what not to use at all?
One thing I didnt hear you mention is what kind of paint you used.
Is it an enamel base?.
Thanks.
Resurface Solutions out of Texas
Only a factory put on a glaze finish. Any business that refinish tubs is only painting the tub
We “Reglaze” with a polyurethane resin. Definitely not “just paint”
Great videos! I was wondering if I use Jasco on my tub could I not reglaze with it if I liked the original tub.
Thx
Why are you in Vegas and not NY!?!? Sad face. I need exactly this done to my peeling tub. Do you know any NY people who do this job well? How long does it last? I don't want it to peel again. Also, would reglazing over tiles hold up well in a windowless and ventless small bathroom or will that eventually peel too? Thanks so much. Stay safe.
Nice work! Super clean.
No prime? No bonding agent? Top coat directly to etch tub?
Come on…lol
Lol! Silly Matthew.
Will the sanding and spraying the stuff on work if I just want to remove the cheap paint the old sellers painted our tub with? They put some sort of smooth coating on in some areas but abrasive paint in others. I just want to recover the tub underneath, that's all, no repainting.
Looks lovely, I just ordered the Jaso Paint and Epoxy remover. I can't find NAPCO Ltd Pirhana Etch and cleaner combo? any other suggestions to acid wash and dull the surface?
Surly not even close being step by step: you skipped 10:06 to 10:07 (all of the sudden the tub is white?
Ha ha ha lol!
do yourself a favor and remove the chrome drain - !! just sayin - thats where they always fail
depends on customer and what they want.
Hi where do i purchase the brown solution you used for the bathtub? Thanks
you can get from Home depot / BAthworks or shurbond acid etch. If you are a professional you can try Napco
good video. hope you can help me with a question? had tub resurfaced a couple years ago. i used an ardex silicone caulk and within a couple month turned yellow. have been putting the project off because i am scared to remove the caulk, not knowing how careful i have to be to not mess up the resurfaced tub? they gave instructions on cleaning it and a list of approved cleaners. i know i can't use a caulk remover on it because that stuff is harsh, any ideas? thanks.
What’s the average cost to reglaze a tub?
Can I use just the spray can of Krylon Tub and Tile - I don't have a machine... I also know that there is one with a wider spray top but I cant find that so I just got regular can.
I see you're doing step-by-step but what happened to the primer? You just did the etching and then painted right on top?
Also wondering why he skips sanding and primer
Is this actual paint that is being removed or a refinishing coating? We rent a house and our landlord insisted on her handyman refinishing the tub. I dropped my razor about a week later and a chunk came off, it's a couple years later and it's like a third gone. I tried to take an actual bath once and came out with bits of it stuck all over me! lol I want to take it off.
What exactly brand and type of paint you using, please let me know I'm just waiting to mine but I'm not sure what kind of paint I need
My bath tub is one of those kits and when i first moved in i sprayed it with rustoleim paint to cover scuffed spots it doesn’t allow my shower mats to stick. Do you have a video or instructions on reglazing those bathroom kit bathtubs
what type of paint you use to paint the tub?i have a tub that seems have been painted before should apply something before the paint or is ok to just use the paint?i just dont know what type of paint to you
Krylon Tub and Tile...however..follow the steps I show in the video and strip off the old coating first.
Oh yeah buddy it's a lot of effort how much can you possibly get for a tub?
What paint to use for bath tubs
one of the best jobs I've seen, congratulations, one question: what type of primer do you use?
I have some scratches on my new tub after remodeling.
How can I get them off?
Thank you 😊
is there any way to remove "drips" off of a previously reglazed tub without reglazing the entire tub?
great work ! what do you use to reetch the non slip etching to the floor of the tub
If the customer wants they have an option for a non skid coating application. I use shark grip
Thanks to your step by step video, I feel so confident with fixing our bathtub now! Thank you!
Previous tenant also painted over the white subway bathroom wall tiles. How do you suggest I strip the paint without damaging the tile glaze? Thanks 🙏🏼
The same way
Thank you, DP. It is a professional job. Question, When do you remove the protective tape from the drain hall? After completely dry, or right after spraying finished? And how?
I donut right after but you could also remove it after it dries to be safe not to touch anything when wet. Poke a hole in the middle and then peel off from the center out.
@@DPTubs So you do remove it right after ?? or you wait until it is dry??
Hello DP, I am wondering what product you sprayed as the finish. Thx.
If paint remover gets on grout will it ruin it? I have a tub sink and wall to do. The wall is old tile with the grout
Why does it literally say on the can not to use it to strip bathtubs...? 😢
I think it’s more of a protective measure to avoid it going down drain and not being rinsed properly.
Great job mate...What did you charge for this job. Thanks from NZ
Can you use an orbital sander? What paper woukd you recvomend?
How much do you charge for the stripping of paint? Then how much for the whole job?
Your video gave me the confidence to attempt to diy it. Thanks for these gems. Shit I'd hire you to come do it.... chances you live in central FL are slim. I'll have to get my supplies tomorrow
Do it! Let me know if you have any questions!
Please what type of paint you used?
Thanks

Hi. great video. how do you scrape the four inside corners in the tub? they're too concave for blade. Thanks.
Hi can you tell me what product you use to glaze and what setup as far as tools go when spraying
Wow, to see it step by step I know the questions to ask my contractor to verify he will be thorough. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Wow!! love your instructions. Looks fabulous and hope I get the same result.
Excellent video. Thanks!
Do you ever get to Michigan? 😃
Maybe one day!
Do you use a tac cloth to prevent dust particles from getting in the finish?
great job!!!! sanding and cleaning are all. these dirty works you must follow. its the most time consuming part. nice step by step video
You ever use gorilla gripto strip tubs, im using it with this company I work for but I'm starting up my own business for tubs repair and lvp/hardwood flooring...so my question is do you need anything for napco to order their products i know some places won't allow you to unless you have types of licenses and so forth... im in Ga so for a small businessI don't need a contractor licensejust a business and something from tax department here....I use rhat piranha wash also good stuff to clean tubs and so on..... that jasco you use can you use that on gel coating tubs as well ??????
No jasco on fiberglass or acrylic tubs. Just metal pressed steel or cast iron tubs.
ok. I have a 1980 garden step in tub in my master, Its made with ABS and backed with resin. I sand and sand and sand. It feels like it needs to all come off. Im very upset as it is 60x50 and I don't know what will stick to it. I have used epoxy and it still was not working. I have been told pool paint too, help please
You can use an epoxy but before you apply the epoxy resin you would need to apply a bonding agent to the surface. I use BULLDOG adhesion promoter to help with bonding and adhesion. Test a small area first for compatibility.
Just want to clarify - what you put in the Capspray is the Kyrlon Tub and tile 2, right? Thanks so much for the products and the video. Amazing transformation
Yes for DIY users I would recommend Krylon Tub and Tile...for professional Resurface Solutions
@@DPTubs where to purchase the professional resurface solutions?
How to find the scrapper you used? Did you do just one coat of spray,
Great work! Any advice on how to remove your stains from an old cast iron tub?
Try water and 800 grit wet dry sand paper...if that doesn’t work try a little lacquer thinner and sand paper to see if that works.
@@DPTubs i will try that, thank you!
It always looks nice when it has been done recently. Soon it starts to crack and peel. Those solutions never last. Better replace the tub right away.
Not true! Depends on who does it, material used how thick of coating, and the type of care.
Also keep in mind that we are always Reglazing a bathtub that was once new that didn’t last itself.
PLEASEEE COME SAVE MY TUB NOW 😩😩😩 OMG U DID A GREAT JOB I BEEN WATCHING SO MANY VIDEOS CUS IM HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH MY TUB IMA TRY MY BEST TO FOLLOW THESE STEPS THIS WEEKEND CUS I NEED IT BAD
Good luck keep me posted and make sure to ventilate, wear gloves, and wear a respirator.
Nice work Danny
Boss quick question. Do you use a primer before go to epoxy and spray the tub?
Can you use automotive paint to re-glaze your tub?
he never says what kind of paint he's using.
Automotive paint a no go.
Its in the description for what he uses for the re finish
Do you have advice if the bathtub was like a plastic material I don't know what you would call it. And has had a hole developed in the bottom of the tub it's been fiberglassed but now the fiberglass has come off? Can't afford a new one.
Yes I have a couple videos on fiberglass crack repairs just search “fiberglass repair DP tubs”
Would the Piranha be ok on fiberglass shower/tub?
Yes!
Great video! I have two questions. There is a terrible coat of the rustoleum tub two part refinish on a fiberglass tub and surround. Will the Jasco spray work on this? And or what would you recommend. The existing location is still slightly soft.
I recommend 120 grit sand paper with and orbital sander to remove and loose areas and feather edges. Patch with bondo where needed and then spray a primer coat.
Thx, I think you talk abt recommended primer but would you mind refreshing my memory. Also, are you still using the krylon kit?
I am using the Resurface Solutions. Krylon is great but they have limited supply and is not always available. It can yellow a bit over time I have noticed when used with hot water within a week after application.
Hey bro!! After you scratched it all with the etchin, did you washed it with water? Or you just wiped it up with paper towels?
Completely rinse with cold water then dry
Cant stand music added in educational videos. Headache causing ... sorry had to say it. Nothing like the soothing quiet behind the voice.
Moving on ...
Appreciate the feedback
What the name of the spray please
Resurface Solutions High Gloss ISO Free White
We have a lot of rust around the drain. I can chip little pieces out. Is there anyway to fix that issue or is the tub gone? I was told by a realtor that it would just need refinishing. This looks like it might be more involved or is it no big deal? Thanks
You can fix it
Which HVLP do you use make a review
I am a DIY guy. I do not have access to all the acid which you guy have. I am thinking of buying muriatic acid for acid wash my bathtub. My tub was reglazed 6yrs back and I have removed the old paint. Should I buy muriatic acid? Or are there other product (Zep, etc.) which are equally effective?
If yiu use jurisdiction acid you have to be very careful with ventilation, hand and eye protection and make sure to dilute it with water as well
@@DPTubs Thank you sir for the reply. Yes, I have bought industrial level gloves, masks and eyewear. Plus, my bathroom has big window.
Hopefully I get etching with muriatic acid for the paint to stick. I am gonna prime it with 2 coats (zinsser 123) like what you suggest. And then top coat RustOleum Gloss Enamel.
My landlord did this to my tub How long does it last? What products should I use to clean it? Is it safe for a child to take a bath in a refinished tub? Great work!
Yes if the proper material is used
What are you spraying ? Enamel paint...
Just beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I will be looking forward to your next video until then I am keeping you and your's in my thoughts and prayers please stay safe, take care and God bless!
Hey Danny, we had our tub sprayed and noticed the mist travelled into various parts of our bedroom. There is a white mist on our laminate now. We tried everything including paint thinners to remove it but no luck. Can you recommend something to clean up this mist on the floor? Thanks so much!
This is my recommendation: I would use lacquer thinner. It’s different than paint thinner. Try a spot with lacquer thinner and maybe a blue non scratch pad from the cleaning aisle at Home Depot and test a small area. If it’s on glass or a hard surface I would carefully use a single edge blade to scrape it off carefully. Do not use lacquer thinner or blade on wood flooring or cabinets. Always try a small area first. Also, have you contacted the person who did it?
It’s nice to see someone take pride in their work!
great veidos however normal homeowners can not buy the napco products what can we use to etch cast iron/ thank you porcelain
Normal homeowners can look at Home Depot and order Bathworks etching solution
What do you charge for a tub like that?
Close to $500
How much would it cost to hire someone to do this?
$500-$600
Would the process be the same if the material that is chipping off of the tub is not thin like in the video but alot thicker? You can tell the reglaze was done properly the first time but I'm just wondering if your process would change at all!
I would test an area, maybe a corner with the Jasco and let it sit for about 10-12 minutes. Sand it with 60 grit first and then apply the Jasco in that spot. If it bubbles and is easy to come off then strip the whole tub.
If it does not come off easy I would sand the whole tub down with 120 grit, patch fill the chips with bondo and then sand smooth, primer coat the entire tub, and then spray 2-3 coats of the top coat.
Love your Videos! Can you tell me what size tip you are using with your gun (Capsrpay HVLP Maxum II)? Is it the stock tip that comes with the gun?
Yes a #3
Sent me and email I have 2 bathtubs that needs refinish in San f
FRANCISCO THX DENNIS
I am in Las Vegas!
Dang!!!
This is a lot of work
If there was never a coat to remove, do you still sand it down?
Yes...I have that process and another one of my videos you should go check that one out it may help out more
Uh huh.
AWESOME VIDEO. I CANNOT FIND Napco PIRANHA Etch ANYWHERE. DO YOU KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND IT?
Napco LTD
Nice job I can see your a pro hope I can even get close
They painted a nice white tub yellow....
Loved it. YOU'RE A PRO!
Danny how long does it take you to do a job like this from start to finish?
With stripping or removing an old coating it will take about 4-5 hours
How much extra do you charge for this type of scraping. I seen you charge $300 for the reglazing but this seems like a pain
Boomanik Boomerangs the stripping is an extra $75-$100
What a transformation! Awesome!
Yeah I like the white better than the Almond color!
Looks amazing, what's the model of the sprayer that you're using if you don't mind me asking?
Capspray Maxim II and Titan 75 Compressor
